Tiger will always have a shot at the Masters until he's at least 50 years old. I'm one of the biggest Tiger doubters around (as some of my posts on this thread will attest), but so long as he stays healthy - which is a HUGE caveat - he will always be able to contend at Augusta. The other Majors, I'm less confident about.

Re: Jack's Record Is Safe
He was working with a new putter that was actually longer than his previous one so that could have been the big issue. Changing your sight line can cause a problem with reading greens. I would imagine with another bunch of practice with the new putter he will be fine. I felt like he easily missed about 8-10 putts throughout the weekend that he would normally make, which would have put him in contention.
He was missing putts before he even addressed the ball though. That’s what was frustrating. I loved the extremely low camera angles on the putts they were showing. That angle really tells you what’s going on with where they are lined up and how it comes off the putter face.Comment

Re: Jack's Record Is Safe
I don't care what Tiger's world ranking is he is still a great player. I'm watching the last round and watching all of these great players and some new guys and I'm thinking TW ain't getting to 18. These guys are machines you have relatively young guys who were gonna set the world on fire just a few short years ago and they just can't quite get back. Rory Spieth Day guys like that. Seems like a new bunch appears every few years that steal a major here and there. Very few guys can make putts in their 40's like they did earlier in their careers.Comment

Re: Jack's Record Is Safe
I'm not sure why anyone expects him to truly compete if he's playing once a month.
Hopefully he can ramp up for more tournaments. His putting was bad just like it was at the Memorial, but this round he had some really poor wedge shots.
A lot of that is just feel and consistency. Well, that's going to come from playing more tourneys.
The thing is, he's Tiger Woods. Any tournament he goes into he's going to have a chance.
For now I'm just going to enjoy the ride. Some of the hate toward him is so strange to me. He completed the comeback and got another green jacket. From here it's just gravy. I just enjoy watching him play and love seeing the red come out on Sunday.
Some people just loooove wathcing him fail. Bizarre in a sport like golf. I really only dislike two guys right now. Reed because he's a cheater and Dechambeau because he's a cry baby.Comment

I think the Bison version of DeChambeau is fun to watch. If he ever figures out how to hit his short irons consistently closer look out. His combination of distance and putting makes him contend even when he’s spraying the ball all over the place.Comment

His game is magnificent. He’s so unique that I want to like him.
But he has the personality of a cactus.Comment

Re: Jack's Record Is Safe
I'm still holding out hope, even though winning three majors is a career for most players. If he does get to 18, it'll be through 3 more green jackets. His game is perfect for Augusta. I almost hope he misses the cut at the U.S. Open for his back's sake. Chopping out of that heavy rough on every other hole is going to be rough on him. He should focus all his energy on Augusta, because that's his best chance at picking up major wins.There... are... four... lights!Comment

Re: Jack's Record Is Safe
Birdie at the last. Very tough course. Unless he is perfect he can't win on a tract like this anymore but you could probably say that about all of them. Odds of back to back at Augusta are slim. Send out an APB for Jordan Spieth.Comment

Who cares if he gets to 18 majors at this point anyway? He completely dominated the sport for more than a decade, has an almost incomprehensibly deep resume, is a global superstar and icon in a way Nicklaus could never be, and still overshadows the tour when playing despite being a physical wreck. And now he's embracing this late career elder statesman role in a way no one ever expected.
I feel sorry for anyone who considers themselves a golf fans and can't just appreciate how amazing the Tiger Woods experience has been to watch.Comment
