Is it legal to ask someone to compare their initial impressions of this with their impressions of The Golf Club? Not to start an argument, just an opinion.
Thanks to people that checked on season mode calendar. This game sounds like nhl last year. What gives me hope though is that they might update and add stuff similar to ufc.

My big knock on TGC is the game can be brutal when it comes to hitting 0-70% shots. PGA Tour feels like it just guts that whole system and tries something a little different which feels more shallow.Comment

The game looks great, but honestly as an owner of TGC I was pretty much only hyped about the added immersion of creating myself (gameface on previous versions was amazing) and going through a career. But the player creator is so laughably bad it completely removes that. You get 11 faces, most of which don't even look like a real person, I think six hairstyles, and some different skin tones. That's it. Not even facial hair. At least 99% of people who try won't be able to make anyone that even passably looks like them. It's pathetic.
However, facial hair is there, you have to go through all of the options to find it.
There is no "calendar" per se and this I agree should not be missing either.Last edited by DivotMaker; 07-09-2015, 10:23 AM.PC / Xbox One X

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Trial Available Now on EA Access, Post Your Impressions
I got a full round of 18 in at Sawgrass this morning. I only played it on the arcade settings simply because I was rushing before work to get a quick round in and I didn't want to waste time playing with settings. That's tonight's mission.
As for Sawgrass. I thought it looked great. The visuals are spot on. When there's some motion and camera panning though, things tend to look a bit... grainy? Maybe that's the right word. It may be my TV also though. I'm not playing on the greatest. It's a 2 year old Samsung 5 series LED. However, it's a big improvement from last gen, and big improvement from TGC on the X1. Frame rate seems fine with me, I didn't notice any issues like I did last night while the game was still installing.
I enjoyed the round I played, even though I was rushing. It's got that same EA Golf feel, that's for sure. I missed I think only one fairway, I hooked a shot to the left and into a bunker. Chipping I was fairly close to the pin most of the time. Putting was a bit of a struggle for me to get used to. That might take a bit. In total, I shot a -12, bogey free round. Now, keep in mind, this was in straight up arcade mode, with only 3-5 mph wind setting because I was in a rush.
I'm happy with what I saw in the play now mode. Kind of sad to only see stroke play, or match play as an option. Hopefully all those original TW game modes like skins, stableford etc. all come back as content updates down the road.
Later tonight, I hope to get in another round using the tour difficulty settings, and mess around in the career mode. That's where I'll spend most of my time with the game.
One thing that concerns me, I didn't see anywhere in the menu for Stats. I really HATE that EA has gone away from personal user stat tracking in it's games. I assume inside of Career mode it will keep track of my golfers stats (can anyone confirm?), but I'd like to see a universal stat tracker, to track every single round my GT plays, offline, online, everything.PC / Xbox One X

I'm not a regular player of golf games. I played the demo of TW13 I think. I played this last night on Access and it seemed easy on tour difficulty.
I figured I would be terrible since I'm not at all and experienced player but, I was at even par after 18 on TPC sawgrass.
I used Rory. Not sure if that matters.
The game looks great. It was fun to play.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Trial Available Now on EA Access, Post Your Impressions
Early impressions for me are that it's the same dang game they've been putting out for years. With few exceptions, it's the same mechanics, same flow, same angles, same power-swing slo-mo, same cut scenes, same camera, same courses, and somehow, somehow, they even managed to take a step back in some areas (golfer creation, putting, number of golfers, number of courses). Just baffling.
The graphics look nice, it plays faster, and the announcing is good (although glitchy, I've noticed a few times), I'll give it that.
I said this in another thread, I don't know much about programming, but to say this is written from scratch seems awfully thin to me. It's JUST like every other Tiger game.Comment

That's not the solution. Once you get use to the motion, the accuracy will come back.I am the lesson after the fall.Comment

A few thoughts while I'm downloading...
I'm just curious if the overall freedom and constant updates and tuning for TheGolfClub have ruined this title for alot of people. People also need to remember that TGC wasn't a great product at launch either.
This brings me to my second point... With the addition of another course being added in Sept for free (even if its already available for preorders), is there any chance EA keeps interest in this game and gives us more patches, gameplay updates, and even more courses. I've heard they did something similar to this with a UFC title.
And back to TGC....have they implemented there $10 season mode download yet? I've actually been playing lots of real golf, so i've been off of the TGCtours for awhile.
Thanks everyone for all the updates and critiques.
Thats the benefit of games that take a 2 year cycle. They have time to update the old game for a few months before moving on to the next version.Comment

Ea access is clutch and saved me 47.99.
Presentation is awesome and everything else is incomplete or terrible.
A really strange product.Comment

Or 9 if you do the pre-order and get Scottsdale. You'll get Scottsdale free in September otherwise. Two of the so-called fantasy courses are pretty realistic though. Lighthouse Point and especially The Wetlands, are courses I wouldn't mind playing again and again. I just hope that over time, EA Sports will enhance and tweak this game to make me want to play the included courses and the ones they will be adding. Right now, I'm not exactly stoked about the gameplay, and in some areas, the presentation.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment
