I would have sent you one, thinking you might have this EA version, but I saw your status was offline.

Anyway, to answer your questions. There is only one par 3 course and that's Paracel Storm, an over-the-top fantasy course. There are 12 courses available at launch (13 if you go with the pre-order offer where you pick up Scottsdale along with it, although Scottsdale will be free to all on September 14th). What's pretty cool is that two of the so-called fantasy courses aren't really what I think of as fantasy courses. They're fictional courses, but ones that I could see existing in real life. The Wetlands is a fantastic Florida wetlands course and Lighthouse Pointe is a course along the Maine coast that is a little bit edgier, but one that's playable.

I tried to play the other fantasy course, Coyote Falls I believe it's called, but quit after the ridiculous 3rd hole. I didn't even try Paracel Storm after watching the video featuring it... just not my cup of tea.

I'm not really that juiced about this game though. It just doesn't feel finished. The online multiplayer is really lacking and is something I wouldn't want to bother with right now. I think EA Sports will continue to refine this game since they're no longer on an annual new game release cycle, but I'm going to hold off until I've seen enough progress to make it into what it should be. I think the Frostbite 3 engine is a good one to build from, but it's going to take time to get the refinements done that this game needs. It is sorely lacking in feel right now, IMO.
John, glad to hear from you and I do remember that user name from years ago. I have been away from the forums for about 5 years now. Real life, work, a divorce, a new marriage all played a role. My son uses the Badgun account and I mostly use Cowboys59 on Xbox live these days. I will send you a friend request. Thanks for the info about the game. I am definitely picking it up on Tuesday and maybe we can play a little bit.

No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

Not sure how he came up with that unless he withdrew from each one or has played through. If so, I do stand corrected. Tiger 14 definitely had FAR more licensed tournaments. My apologies to that user and everyone else if that information is confirmed.

I do expect EA to add to that sometime soon, but not sure how without updating for next season.....

I have always found EA strong point being their presentation of sports games as being a representation of reality. They seek to immerse the player in the ersatz real world. I am a massive fan of the FIFA series and am currently playing career mode on the ps4. It's an amazing experience because it's so accurate and real in many ways. The presentation in the UK is from our Sky sports perspective even using their commentary and studio teams.
PES is simply ludicrous at the side of FIFA as it uses rediculous team names. The great draw for me with TW was that it did exactly the same as FIFA. Now it appears EA have slimmed down their approach and one must ask why?
I remember playing pointless rounds of golf on the PC on games like links. They looked marvellous but the game was boring. The same has to be said with TGC. It's a derivation of all of those endless boring PC golf games. There is nothing on TGC to immerse the player in.
I have preordered RMG as I love golf games. I only hope that EA can get their act together and provide the immersive experience that FIFA does. EA really don't seem committed to this game at this stage. F1 2015 on the ps4 is an unfinished game. It's unpolished and not really up to next gen standards. I really want RMG not to be the same.
I can see what you are saying and don't disagree. However, since they are moving to a non-yearly release model, I think they came in slimmer with RM than intended, but plan to build it from launch with a mix of free and paid DLC. Agree with those who feel it should not be $60 as well.

What I don't understand about the scoreboard / playoff / non-licensed players: if you can put their name up on the board and a score derived from some sort of algorithm without ever showing them or their swing....why can't they post a simulated score hole-by-hole in a playoff till it's decided?

They had that in one of the versions of Tiger and got so much feedback that it was not enough for a playoff in that users wanted to actually play against a likeness of the AI. What you describe may be the only way to do it. Need EA's thoughts on this......

What I have done to counter the absurdly easy-ness to strike straight golf shoes is to force myself to hit a slight draw or fade on every shot, other than on close approaches. It can be the slightest draw/fade, just enough so you force the use of the diagonal swing.

This is no help online but makes career more fun.

No need to apologize, I just knew I wasn't crazy. In fact I was hoping you were gonna tell me this is wrong. If not, is there a way to cancel a digital preorder?

-ps4 version has the same draw in issues. I don't know if it's the difference in color palette that xbox uses but the game is way more clear and vibrant on the ps4 in my opinion. That washed out and graininess people were commenting about in the early access version I'm not experiencing on the ps4. I has a little time left on my access version so I switched back and forth a few times to be sure but ya in my opinion the game looks better on ps4.
I'm going to be eventually put in the position of picking between the PS4 and XB1 versions of RMPGAT. I played the XB1 EA version and I'm little disappointed in the graininess and occasional blockiness of the textures. Do you see the same degree of "graininess" (for lack of a better term) in the PS4 version?

I don't have any scientific basis for this, but it looks to me like the XB1 version's native res might be 720p, and if so, I was thinking the PS4 version would likely be 900p. However, when you say 'way more clear and vibrant' on the PS4 version, I'm left to wonder if it might not even be 1080p? It doesn't look like EA Sports is going to be forthcoming on this until after both games are released on Tuesday, but I am very curious about it.

Finally, did you feel any difference in the swing interface between the two? I thought the XB1 version animated reasonably well, but as twitchingly sensitive as the current swing interface is, I'm thinking every additional frame per second one could get above 30 FPS would be a plus.

How is the multilayer? The only thing I hated about last year was that if you miss one birdie and part you pretty much lose the match because it was so easy.

Any ideas why there are absolutely ZERO reviews out for this game two days prior to release? There's not a peep out there ....

Good question. Makes you wonder. I paid $19 for Perfect golf, $35 for the Golf Club, both on PC, no way Roy Golf is a $59.00 purchase. I'm really torn because the other two don't have PGA players, which I enjoy using. It's gonna be a stressful next couple of days.

Yes and I also change the default shot to "full" and adjust the distance by my swing (and club choice)alone. judging backswing distance and custom ball height. The game defaults to an automatic distance meter for each swing making a full swing more or less the correct distance. Hitting the x button changes that preset shot to full (unless I am chipping or other custom need).

There used to be an option that you could tell the computer to not set your club or distance for you. This is similar to that since that option is gone.

Is easy to do and adds a natural challenge to setting up and executing shots. It's a little tricky to get the swing dialed in to adjust for ten to twenty yards difference in distance but the result feels much like how my real rounds play out without bending over backward to add difficulty.

Thanks for this! Was driving me nuts because all I had to do was swing when the circle was green and it would be damn close on distance. Even if I had a 100 yard wedge with 17 to the hole, just swing forward when the circle was green and bam, you're within feet. Was becoming too easy. Been spending some more time with the game today and I must admit, it's growing on me. No other game can give the great broadcast style presentation of pro golf like this one. Also really enjoying the crowd noises when you hit shots. Makes me feel like a pro.

Someone else also added a tip of using the overhead cam when trying to line up shots and then going back up behind the golfer when it was time to hit. Much better than using the unrealistic zoom function. Seems to be a fair share of simulation oriented people on these boards and that's a good thing. Keep the realism tips coming 😀
