Either you guys are gods with the stick or I suck. I use the same settings, but with the right stick. My best round is a -4. Maybe I'll get better, but for now, I'm ok where I'm at. Glad some of you have found an option for you to enjoy.

It's not even that I find it too easy ..... I just hate analog swinging. It feels awkward and brings nothing to the plate. It's why I stopped playing TGC. I can do well with it, but it always feels like such a chore. I use anaolg for MLB The show and NHL, but for golf I just can't stand the feel of analog swinging. It just feels like a big bag of poop.Comment

Re: 3-Click is the new sim mode (Rory PGA)
One thing that I'm hopeful for with 3 click is, if the devs do make an Expert 3 click lobby or tourneys, I don't see how you could cheat like you can with an analog swing.
I'm sure some guys would still get really good at it and shoot low scores, but I don't think they'd be anywhere near what scores can get to with an analog interface.

I'm not knocking anyone for using analog, it's just not my cup of tea for golfing games. Thank god we have 3-Click as an option.Comment

Re: 3-Click is the new sim mode (Rory PGA)
My opinion of course, but 3-click always has been and still is the best way to play golf games.
In fact, it's the only reason I finally purchased this game after several years off. It's also the reason that Hot Shots continues to be so damn fun and challenging.Comment

Re: 3-Click is the new sim mode (Rory PGA)
For those of you like myself that find the analog swing too easy or clumsy I suggest you give the 3 click swing a go. At first I thought it would be too easy or primitive lol ..... but man did it ever change the game for me.
Gameplay and fun factor are near perfect using 3-Click. If your timing is off even slightly you get punched in the face for it. Making the perfect swing is far more rewarding using 3-Click and for me seems more immersive for some reason.
I recommend 3-Click over analog with all aids turned off and if you want to up the difficulty even more just change swing difficulty to hard (I don't recommend this at first) I went from finishing a round with a -25 to finishing with a +5 when I changed to 3-Click. Much more realistic results and for me 3-Click is the new sim.
ps. putting is much, much better with 3-Click imo.

Re: 3-Click is the new sim mode (Rory PGA)
I wish I could catch the 3-click wave with RMPGAT, but I can't... it's easily the most challenging way to score in the game, I won't deny that. I went double-bogey, bogey in the two holes I played using it, but there's something about the nature of the 3-click interface that takes me out of the moment, and makes me engage in meter regulating exercise that feels separated. I just can't get past that, even though I've tried since I was first steered away from it by Front Page Sports Golf, and its real-time, true-swing interface back in 1998.
I'm glad it's there for those who enjoy and prefer it, I sort of regret that I'm not one of you at this point in RMPGAT's evolution... (sigh)Last edited by OnlookerDelay; 07-20-2015, 12:45 PM.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: 3-Click is the new sim mode (Rory PGA)
There's another neat aspect I'm finding when it comes to 3 click but it's totally optional. I see a lot of guys using the Tour mode interface talk about hitting Square (PS4)/ X (X1) to make it more challenging and no doubt, it does. Mainly because that interface is not precise enough to consistently differentiate between a 3/4 swing, a full swing etc. I just don't think the analog swing in this game was designed to NOT move the marker up and down as well as left and right.
The beauty of 3 click is, even though it wasn't designed to do that either, it's versatile enough to handle it. I'm always going to full swing and this has added another element to my course management...how much yardage do I want to leave myself on my second shot. It's really quite amazing what 3 click has done for this game for me. And because there's also an option to hit a shot choking down on the club, you have the tools available to hit every shot you can imagine, while keeping things like hazards and yardages in mind.
Par is a good score with 3 click and though I feel like if I put together a few good holes, a round in the 60's is entirely possible, so is a round in the mid to high 70's. I'm even finding I think like a Tour pro after a round. I played Chambers Bay and after seeing +2 on my scorecard, I felt like a played better than that. Then I saw I took 72 shots and thought "you know what, getting around this course in 72 shots is really pretty good".
Can't say enough good things about 3 click. Hot Shots is my favourite golf series of all time and this interface puts the same smile on my face when I execute a good shot.

Re: 3-Click is the new sim mode (Rory PGA)
Ha! Total vindication for us 3-click holdouts! Now where's my metamucil?
So I detailed my thoughts on this in a prior post somewhere in a another thread, but I don't think that 3-click is in any way a more 'primitive' or less realistic interface for a video game golf input. I would actually argue that in many ways, it's more realistic than an analog swing. Without re-hashing my entire post, I think that a golf swing is basically about timing and precision, and that is pretty much what 3-click is all about. Analog swings superficially 'seem' more realistic because there's a back-and-forth nature to them, but given how loose/imprecise analog sticks are (it's really not a 1:1 motion by any stretch) and the fact that there's no real 'timing' involved, as well as the complete inability to differentiate between a 50% and 75% swing (which in real life is clearly obvious), I think 3-click is at least as reasonable, if not moreso, of an interface for a golf game as is an analog back/forth.Comment

Re: 3-Click is the new sim mode (Rory PGA)
I'm glad I checked this thread. I was feeling guilty about going back to 3-click. I haven't played a golf game in a few years. I tried the analog and it just didn't feel right. I always try to keep up with all the improvements on games though because I don't want to be the old guy who can't get with the times.
Also...I've only been playing for a couple days so I didn't know I could change the settings. Thank God because with the default I was shooting -40 for tournaments. Going to turn off zoom and the green thing.
Is there a way to increase the inaccuracy of mis-hits? I still seem to drive the ball straight down the fairway even when I miss my target line by a good margin.Comment

If EA would allow us to play Classic Custom Online tournaments, that is probably the mode I would play most unless the new TOUR swing improvements coming out make me sweat every shot like 3-click Custom does.....PC / Xbox One X
