    TPC Scottsdale

Are we able to use this course in our career mode? I have been working on levelling my player up as much as possible.

I'm nearly up to the 75 point with my golfer and I would hate to have to start over.

Plus, all of the people who did not pre-order will get the course free in September, will this then be added to their career mode schedule?

It would be nice if we could see the schedule on career mode. It's kind of like asking my magic 8-ball, will I play TPC Scottsdale next? 8-Ball says "outlook not so good"

I have it in play now but it hasn't come.in career mode yet, very dissapointing. I've actually been keeping track of which courses I've been playing lately. Right now I'm in year 3, my golfer is level 67 I believe and about a 78 overall. Here's the breakdown from my last 13 tournaments:

      TPC Sawgrass (Twice)
      Wolf Creek (3 Times)
      Royal Troon (Twice)
      Bay Hill
      TPC Boston
      Chambers Bay
      Lighthouse Point
      St. Andrews
      Whistling Straights

      In No Particular Order

It is not in the career mode. I preordered, and have Scottsdale for play now. I'm presently at the season finale tourney, it's at Sawgrass, and Scottsdale was nowhere to be found on the schedule.

That's a bummer, but not really surprising since it wasn't available for everyone at launch.

Really hope there's a career mode update coming that allows for customization of the schedule. If their DLC plans, and future support plans allow for new courses, they better allow them for use in career mode, because that was a brutally boring career mode schedule to play. I was tired of playing Bayhill and Sawgrass over, and over, and over.

It's a bit of a snoozer to play a season. I've played three seasons using the shorter rounds. I'm just trying to build up the golfer.

I hope after I build up my golfer, maybe by then some of these mythical updates and DLC's will actually come true. If not, I'll hope for the best on NHL 16

I am in no particular hurry to unlock it if we can't use it in career mode. Unless they use the particular course for online tournaments.

                Totally agree with you.
If the new courses not included in career mode I will not pay for them.

Finally got around to "downloading" this course only to find out that you need to be connected to the internet to play it. This is a dealbreaker for me with the DLC courses and if the content upgrades are like that too then I'm done.

I know it's unusual to be offline most of the time but when I buy a game I expect to be able to play it offline.

                    Re: TPC Scottsdale

this whole TPC Scottsdale issue seems, at least to me, to fly in the face of conventional wisdom.

If you want a good price, seats, and times on a flight, you book early. If you want a better price, and possibly better location for a hotel, you book early. Stores have "Early Bird" sales, not " when everyone can join us" sales.

So, the fact that some of us pre-ordered the game to get the course seemed fine, until we couldn't really use it in any meaningful mode.

Remember, NCAA 11 and 12, I believe had a pre-order incentive, for the Nike Pro Combat uniforms used by 10 teams the previous season? I did that, got the code, downloaded the uniforms and guess what, used them in my seasons and Dynasty mode right away, not two months later.

In some of the TW versions, there were downloadable courses. Most buyers probably downloaded them, some might not have, and we all did our own thing.

It kind of sums up the issues with this game. Things the company has done in the past on a lesser system on different installments of their games have not been done on this seemingly half-hearted effort.

So, in this case it appears that the early bird gets no advantage whatsoever. I could have gone to the store whenever I wanted or whatever purchased the game and had exactly the same experience as those who ordered in advance.

Is this what we should expect going forward with the potential DLC coming from EA?.

Not sure I am understanding what the issue is. I think most game developers/publishers expect users to be connected to the internet in this day and age. I don't have Scottsdale for my PS4 as I bought it late, but I do recall playing Scottsdale on my Xbox One with zero issues. Did not look to see if I was logged into EA or not, but my consoles are always "connected" as I think most are these days.....

As I said I know it is unusual / archaic to not be connected in today's world but I only hook up to download patches. This is the first instance where my 'configuration' has cost me any functionality. This took me by surprise, especially since all prior DLC courses in the series worked fine offline.

Over the years it's been a blessing to not be connected; I never had any freezing issues with my PS3 games that others occasionally had.

Can't comment on PS4 version of Scottsdale, but I just launched the course on my Xbox and was NOT logged in to EA. However, my Xbox and PS4 are connected to Xbox Live and PSN respectively and I never plan to play this or any other game not connected.

                            Direct reply from HANDSWARD:

For the pre-order the client needs to be connected to Nickel to verify that you pre-ordered the game. After the course is unlocked for everyone it should be available offline.
Nickel is an online client to verify the preorder. This situation ONLY applies to the preorder course, not future DLC.

IMO, that's totally unnecessary to use a client to verify a pre-order. EA should trust their retailers to only give out pre-order codes to those customer who actually preordered the game. As of right now, there is no way to even get the course because a code is required to unlock it. Either you have access to the code or not and once you have used the code, then you should be able to use the course in your career. Being connected to the internet should not be a requirement.

His response simply doesn't hold up IMO.
