I have not heard this story before, but I knew Andrew and a few other were working with perfect golf. I think one of the main problems was at the time Tiger Woods was huge and MS could not compete or have the licenses that EA had. It is definitely horrible that they could not be bothered to find the code. Surely they had it on some type of electronic backup that was not that difficult to find. We cant even get a new mario golf on the switch right now I have no idea what is going on.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
I’m mostly fine with the price increase for truly AAA games.
They really haven’t kept pace with inflation as one might have expected.
That said, to me now EA and 2K need to step up these offerings a bit more for the next console generation. For instance it’s time for EA to truly reimagine the NHL games.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
I don't disagree, considering games were $50-60 as far back as 20-30 years ago already. But if they're going to up the cost, I do think that will signal to consumers that they need to up the quality as well. I'm not confident that will happen.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
I would imagine it costs a lot more to produce AAA titles now than it did 20-30 years ago but rarely did a studio release a game that wasn't finished unlike today. Graphics on the whole are a lot better of course but in most cases the quality of the experience has gone down.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
Someone on the HB forum commented about this in much the same way I think about it..
Essentially, there is too much "release it at 80/90%" and "maybe we'll patch it later". Even worse, one wonders/worries that they end up deciding "how much to do" in patching based upon sales once it's already out.
It's a complete path to nowhere.
You have people waiting for patches for functionality/issues before buying the game and the company itself watching initial sales to, at least partially, gauge how much effort to put in moving forward.
At least way back when, patching was much more challenging post release and thus the care that went into the released product was much higher.
I can imagine some would use the above as a rationale to defend "pre-ordering"... I would look at it exactly in reverse in that you'd be "pre-rewarding" HB for, to this point, showing us a rather underwhelming product given that they want a completely new full purchase all over again -- instead of just a $15-20 DLC pack for 2019....which many of us have argued is what 2k21 really is/should have been.Last edited by scagwi; 07-04-2020, 11:45 AM.Comment

I'll buy a $69.99 Forza 8, MSFS 2020, Virtual Golf 2 (Perfect Golf 2, if it ever gets beyond Trackman launch simulator use) and a MLB 2021: The Show (the only team sports game going right now that I think is worth its salt). The rest, I'll wait on the first or second price cut.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
I know you're joking around ..... but springboarding off this to say that the build up has been so long, people would probably pay $79.99 and $99.99 if it included a single blade of "grass" from this past SB.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
I just noticed this little nugget on the PGA 2K21 website that I hadn't seen before, or seen anyone mention...bad news for all of the aspiring course designers that have a Nintendo Switch:
"BUILD YOUR MYPLAYER & DREAM COURSE
Create and personalize your MyPLAYER with equipment and apparel from brands you love. Design your ultimate course with 1,000s of custom options.*
*Course Designer is not available on the Nintendo Switch."
Even better? The Switch version is still listed for $60 on the site. Fewer features, same cost. Nice.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 07-06-2020, 10:50 AM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
The only way I see them showing increased sales on this game is a move to turn off the servers on the older games. Caught between the $hit and the stink here. User created courses is the biggest selling point but once you dump the archaic engine its game over. Sports gaming is not in a good place now.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
Someone on the TGC Tours Forums posted a great question to go along with the lack of the designer on the Switch:
What courses the Switch users will get to play on their version of the game? Will they have access to the courses built on Xbox One, PS4, and PC? Or will they just get to play the "official" courses?Orbis Non SuficitComment

"There will not be any crossplay, but courses designed by our community can be shared across all platforms. Users will be able to import their courses from The Golf Club 2019 and edit them with the new tools and assets available before publishing them in PGA TOUR 2K21."Duke Football? Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 Gameplay Video (IGN)
That's at least a sliver of good news for the Switch users...even though they are still being asked to pay full price for a game missing one of the features standard on other consoles.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 07-06-2020, 03:08 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment
