I've had an absolute great time playing this these first few days of release. Never played any of the previous iterations that led up to this release, but in college the Tiger Woods franchise was probably my #1 played game in my lifetime. I've been highly anticipating this game for months now, and it hasn't disappointed. I'm still fine tuning various aspects of Settings, which seem to range back and forth between too easy and too difficult, but I'm having a great time, and am certain I'll land on the perfect combination soon enough.

That is one of the great aspects of this year's game is there is so much tuning you can do with the difficulty. Love that a total noob can jump in but you can make it really tough too...even as challenging as real life golf/hacking IMO.

I think my other concern with a game that is so server-dependent like this is: how long will this game be viable? Obviously I hope it's wildly successful and supported for the foreseeable future, but at some point, the game will simply not be playable because the servers will be shut off. That makes this game (and many like it) essentially a long-term rental. Presumably, it won't be an issue for some time, but I fundamentally don't like the concept that the game is only playable for as long as 2K feels like keeping it playable.

Obviously I hope it's wildly successful and supported for the foreseeable future, but at some point, the game will simply not be playable because the servers will be shut off. That makes this game (and many like it) essentially a long-term rental. That is a concern for me too but I think I will get more than my $60 worth by the time they decide to shut the servers down. All previous games are still up you know.

If servers are still like this after a week then there’s a problem. Give it time. I think it’s a good sign there overloaded. Means 2k will support this game until it’s next release. I don’t think they’ll forget about this version with post launch support after six months like they did with TGC2019

I haven't had a four player match start in three attempts now. It comes to an end on the launch screen, with the connection icon flashing continuously and the spinning circle icon perpetually rolling. I have to hit the XBox Guide button on the controller to go back to the game launch hub, and shut it down there. It always boots up and comes right back, but if I try to play a private match or a Society round during prime time hours... it's a no go. I guess the servers are getting hammered.

I have played two successful public matchmaking matches, but they both came between 12:30 AM and 1:00 AM EDT. I went with the 1 Vs 1 match, got an opponent withing 20 seconds, game launched and performed without a hiccup from start to finish, with both going to the last hole. So, it can be done... I guess I need to try to hit up some matches in the morning or afternoon? They'll get this server thing figured out eventually.

This is just my favorite golf sim ever. I've been playing in Master to play in the TGC tours preseason events and it's surprisingly playable. I shot a + 6 but was even through the front 9. You really need to play a shot shape, never play a straight shot.

Two things really bug me.

It's way too easy to hit horrendous hooks and slices with your wedges and short irons. Just the amount of backspin you get from a wedge limits the amount of sidespin so this feels ways off.

I love the new putting system but the putter faces are so dead. You should be able to adjust your putter's power in swing calibration. There's no feeling of impact and feel is so much more important in this new system.

I wish Divotmaker were around today because I think he would've really enjoyed this title.

RIP Divotmaker.

One thing they could do is to make the shorter clubs easier to hit. There's just no way even the worst hacker could slice a GW as much as you do in this game. I feel more confident hitting a 5 iron into greens than a pitching wedge.

I actually wish it was like the oooold PGA 2000 where the backswing was 1-1 with your motion. You could literally stop your backswing at any point and make a downswing or even just hold it there. Lol. It was cool. The first true analog swing that I remember


Also... When you say Divotmaker Rip... Has he passed away? Or banned?
