Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
It truly was... still my favorite golf game of all time! I was able to play it on my Windows 8 gaming PC from a DOS Bos app and of course had it maxed out at 1080p and ultra res and it played beautifully. The only thing that really stopped me from playing it long term was the overly blocky polygonal golfers. I'd forgotten about how crude they were in construction, relative to the environments. They looked like lo-res mech warriors, as a matter of fact, and even through they flowed at a relatively quick and fluid frame rate, they still looked and felt primitive.
If you could somehow plug the Tiger Woods 12 - 14 golfer models and anis into PGA Championship Golf 2000 today, you'd have the runwaway best golf game on the market, provided you could translate their "True-Swing" swing interface to a controller reasonably well!Duke Football? Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
Once one gets some experience with this game one has to move to at least Master. I played Pro for a while, then moved to Master, where I usually score under par. I shot a +2 on Master at Riviera, and could have scored better. But make no mistake, I do have bad rounds.
Legend is the place I want to get to, eventually.
Speaking of the swing tempo, I've noticed, on and off and lately more so, that on the PC tempo has slowed down considerably. Before, I would really have to jam the stick up to get something other than slow. Now, all I do is ease the stick up and I am often a tad fast or perfect. To get a slow-- which, of course, is sometimes needed to take a little off the ball-- I have to go very slow up with the stick.
It seems now that I do have to take a few practice swings before I start a round to gauge tempo speed. It's really weird, and possibly is just in my head, now that I've played a good 175 rounds.
All in all I'm nowhere near some of these Master players scoring in the low 60s. But it's fun, nevertheless.
My Steam name is ABER. Look me up if you want to play a little multiplayer. I'd love to start a Society with a few who play Master. I don't play with the reticule-- I'd play "book only" but that display isn't very good. I also only play percentages (for putting, really, which I may soon discard) for shots: no dumb distance bar. I think my multiplier was x2.02 when playing with "book only" and somewhere around 1.9x with the "Y" key without the reticule.
I wish 2K1 would add stroke play and abandon the Pro only. Ghosts are broken too. I've looked at some of the stats of some of the ghosts, and most show a crazy amount of birdies when compared to pars. This is probably correct, as most play to get in the 50s on some dreadfully easy level.
The problem with ghosts, from what I can tell, is that the ghost will hit the ball in the rough, and then its next shot will be out in the middle of the fairway. Or miss an approach wildly right and then be setting up a short putt on the next shot. This is almost universal, which makes playing a ghost meaningless. Something is dreadfully wrong.

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
I bought the PC game last week, and first I was very excited to be able to play nice looking golf with good gameplay. But the game modes are a huge disappointment. I only play against AI, so the only meaningful game mode is Career. And that has some absolutely horrible bugs.
Earlier today I finished my first PGA Tour event. Surprisingly, I won it. My score was -4, and I was tied 1st, but as this game does, I was declared the winner, received 500 FedEx point and a nice trophy. I exited the game with a big smile. But when I returned to the game later, I found that the results had been revamped: My score was still -4, but two players had scored better than me. So my position was third, and my points had dropped to 190. WTF!? And to make things even more strange, I still had the trophy in my trophy room. This is silly.
I wonder if those are the final results of that event, or do they change again, when I exit & return to Career? And are there any tricks to avoid this bug? E.g. if I start the next event right after the previous, would those original results be cemented?Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
There are lots of other leaderboard bugs as well...AI scores change between rounds, cut lines are way off or glitched when playing events (especially the Legends Championship, due to the low number of players in the field), etc. Career Mode is a buggy mess and is killing the staying power of this game for me.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
I have played two more events in PGA Tour. After both events, I immediately went to the next event and played a couple of holes there. After that I went to check the results of the previous event. And they hadn't changed! I don't know if this works everytime, but this might be a way to prevent the results changing after events. But there's still scores changing between rounds.Comment

If I buy this on Xbox One X will I have to repurchase this again to play on the new Xbox Series X?

I believe they said the game will be compatible with next gen systems, but will not have any additional optimizations.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
Holy crap. This game feels 100% different on PC. I have a great gaming PC and bought this on xbox X and PC.. The xbox version is a stuttery and muddy feeling compared to PC. They should have made the game 1440P on xbox x and do 60FPSComment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
I wondered why HB Studios didn't at least offer a 1080p/60 FPS performance option for the One X, but that doesn't seem to be their thing. I'm now eagerly awaiting their next update to see if they at least offer an option to disable vsync for the XBox Series X version, so that at least 2K21 can run at 60 FPS + at 4K. It would be almost criminal not to do this as much as this game improves at 60 FPS!Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Amen brother! It's like a different game at 60 FPS on my PC, versus the 30 FPS to which it's locked on my XBox One X. You can really get a feel for what they were trying to accomplish with the tempo swing at 60 FPS. I just noticed today that my scoring average is about 3.5 strokes lower on the PC, in a Society which is set to Pro difficulty, compared to the same Society's XBox One version, where mostly the same courses are played at Pro-Am difficulty.

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
I pretty much only play 2K21 now for the course creator (working on making Whistling Straits - Irish Course right now) and for one-off rounds. Career Mode is just too wonky with scoring to get any real enjoyment out of it, not knowing what weirdness will occur each round.
For example, check out the 29:39 mark of this ApexHound video - he just finished the final round at East Lake for the Tour Championship:
Take a look at that "interesting" Top 10:
His MyPlayer, -14
Justin Thomas, -12
Patrick Reed, -10
Graeme McDowell, -2
Kevin Kisner, -1
Cameron Smith, E
Gary Woodland, +1
Andrew Putnam, +4
Adam Scott, +5
Bryson DeChambeau, +7
I know the Tour Championship has a crazy starting scoring format to begin with, with the FedExCup leader starting the event at -10 and the rest of the field given a lower score based on their place in the Top 30, but that's some insanity right there.
A 21-shot difference between 1st and 10th place! 8 shots separate 3rd and 4th! Just wild...
To compare, here's what the final top 10 scores were at the real-life 2019 Tour championship:
-18
-14
-13
-13
-9
-8
-7
-6
Three tied at -5
And 2020:
-21
-18
-18
-17
-14
-13
-12
Three tied at -11Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 11-03-2020, 02:51 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

I hope I’m wrong but we now have HDR support on the XSX? Just fired up the new system and the HDR logo popped up
