Picked this up for the Switch, and have to say so far, it's been a disappointing experience in portable mode. The timing for the swing is really tough to get down consistently with the sticks on the Switch Lite. I think because there's not enough travel distance, you wind up with either slow/really slow or fast/very fast follow thru's, causing the ball to spray all over the course.

I'm sure this would play fine in docked mode and using my Pro Controller, but I would've just picked it up for the PS4 or XB1 if I were going to play on my TV.

Wanted to show off my first round, and how I play without aids. Once you start owning your swing, this game becomes an absolute joy to play.

May not be "sim" but makes the game more enjoyable for me.

Been playing random courses while I get my settings dialed in. Some amazing course designers out there.
You just described the best part of this game and that's the ability to have the game be what you need it to be difficulty wise.

This game is just like real golf for me. I'll be humming along and next thing you know I'm hooking everything. Get that figured out here comes the slice. Get that figured out and I cant sink a putt to save my life. Very rarely do I have it all working but when I do it's so rewarding cause this game punishes you if it isnt. Honestly that's how it should be and Tiger Woods games could never replicate that. Any given day I'm -5 or +10.

I would be destroyed if they had to patch the game to be easier because it didnt cater to the casual golfer. Luckily they dont have to with all the options available and we can all get the game we want

I honestly wish the pace off the putting stroke was the same for every shot. To me it's the smoothest and most satisfying part of the game.

            Most likely an unpopular opinion.

I am not a fan of that either. I love this game but I honestly haven't followed much news on it. Has anyone said that was intentional by design? I can't for the life of me think of why it would be but I haven't seen much talk of it being a bug either. Its really the only thing that bugs me about this game. Missing a 3 foot putt only because the meter is a different speed is annoying.

Idk, I just feel like the swing mechanic, outside of putting, is just way too fast and janky. This is just my personal opinion.

Putting is a slow and consistent backswing, followed by a slow and deliberate forward swing, with a big emphasis on the follow through.

I've seen and read a lot about how driving, iron shots and the short game around the green requires a good follow through, and that the quick-flick forward doesn't work.

For me, unfortunately the quick-flick DOES work, like with previous TGC games. But not because I'm trying or because I want it to work. I wish it didn't. But for some reason it just feels "natural" somehow, with the backswing being as quick as it is.

Casually for the old Tiger games, you're absolutely right but with aids off, Tiger Woods 14 does exactly what you say in that one round off, something on, etc .. for me anyway.

I haven't played this game but that's great news for casuals that it can replicate this without it having to be a hardcore sim.

I know they got rid of the forward flick (which i never knew about before in other games lol) but dont know if many noticed but you do not have to pull the stick all the way back on the backswing.

You can pull slightly back and hold and the backswing will continue and then you push all the way forward. Helps a bit imo

Played 2 tournaments so far. Getting the difficulty settings tweaked just right is what makes this game so fun. I had to turn the downswing timing off because I could not get it right even after lots of practice. Loving it so far. Great golf simulation game.

I've logged over 50 hours and I don't have my timing set. If you're looking to get a perfect hit each time, then maybe it is best you turn the timing off. Generally, I'm a little fast (Master), so I try to compensate. Let's say you get about 45 swings a round. I might get five perfects out of that.

I wouldn't care if I continued this way. But I'm surely not going to disable the hardest part of this game simply because I can't hit the tempo perfectly all the time.

I would imagine that without the swing tempo this game wouldn't be fun at all and would be well too easy. To each his own, however.

I understand. But getting the downswing timing perfect is almost impossible because of the power meter transition. From stopping at the top of your backswing at the transition to your downswing, it's almost impossible to do the forawrd flick slowly because it will throw all your timing off. The best way to do this would be to have an option for a power meter in which you have to hit a button 3 times (start, power transition, ball strike) ESPECIALLY for putting. The putting stroke in this game is unrealistically jerky and it looks terrible IMO.

Just got the game. An avid TW/Rory player but I wanted to check this out.

I went with the True Sim Tour settings (or whatever it’s called) and jumped into the Korn Ferry Tour W school.

I shot 84 in the first round with an 11 on the last, so was sitting at 77-78 range.

Next round (playing 4 round events), I shot 108, not a typo.

And I love the fact that with those settings I can’t just free wheel it. Really looking forward to playing more.

It's been almost a month, and my verdict on this game is that it's very good. I haven't even tried creating a course yet; I'm a little nervous about how much work that will take. But playing through Career mode is really fun, especially in four-round tournaments that make you grind out every last par. There's one thing this game lacks, and that's the pros. If you could play as the pros, it would be absolutely brilliant. Nevertheless, it's a great game, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.
