It's a short course, coming in around 6300 yards from the blue tees, but it does have a few holes with tight, narrow fairways, as well as massive greens that are well protected by bunkers. Once you find the putting surface, you'll be greeted with medium-fast green speeds, but not too much in the way of undulation. It's a resort-type course that's designed more for enjoyment than for a real challenge.

As mentioned in the OS Golfer's thread, I have recently played this course, and it presents a unique experience - double greens are the norm here, and shared tees and fairways are also common. Only two holes (Nos. 7 and 16) are stand-alone holes that have their own tee, fairway, and green.

Par 5s are very reachable for any long hitter, so scoring should be low. But watch out for when that strong east wind blows in off of Lake Superior! You'll never know what scores you might put up!

Anyway, give it a play if you're interested...good luck, and hit 'em straight!
I played this course last night and enjoyed it tremendously, even though it made me play more of my least favorite shots in 2K21, the dreaded pitch shot! I should have just layed up on a lot of the holes and left myself a full lob wedge approach instead of the 45 to 70 yard pitches.

It's a great looking course and uses its available space in interesting ways. I liked the double greens for parallel holes, as a change of pace. I can imagine that sets up some interesting situations in real life there? You did a great job with the planting and the texturing. It looks like you've captured the atmosphere of the real course quite well.

I like playing and seeing real life courses in the game that aren't major championship caliber challenges. Well done!

Sounds good. I updated the second post. I will give it a go. Sounds like a fun course.

Thanks for playing, and for the kind words!

The course is very interesting, and it does lend itself to interesting scenarios. For example, I was playing the back nine, while a group was on the front. Yet we crossed paths at holes 4/13. Back nine players have priority, so I was able to play through, but it is rare that you have to deal with groups playing through when you're 9 holes ahead/behind!

Just noticed that my Madeline Island course was published with an incorrect par on hole 10.

For future reference, please play Madeline Island GC (V2) to play the course with the correct setup of Par 72.

          Thanks!

Can you find these custom courses, and build your own courses on the Switch version? I’m considering buying this game.

I've created two courses on PS4:

Mystic Ponds - A risk/reward course, probably best played on Pro-Am, black tees, random pins. Water on every hole.

Cactus Lake Golf Club - a hybrid desert/resort/city course, again best played on Pro-Am, black tees, random pins.

Sounds like a couple of fun courses. I added them to the front page.

Re: PGA 2k21 Created Course Thread

I'm working on a real-course recreation of the Irish Course at Whistling Straits. I played this course back in 2016 with my dad, and it was an amazing experience.

The Irish Course is inland from its more-famous sister course, the Straits, which has hosted the PGA Championship three times and will host (fingers crossed) the 2021 Ryder Cup. Wind is still a factor on the Irish, even though the course is a farther away from Lake Michigan. Sand is the biggest hazard to deal with, as well as several ponds and creeks that meander throughout the property.

Here's a look at the par-3 third hole, called "Sleeper", to get a feel for what the course looks like in real life:

I don't use LiDAR or anything like that, so I'm still a long way from even considering sharing a screenshot of my progress. But it's been fun to work on the course so far.

It's in the game as "Whistling Straits (Irish)".

That was you over there on that "other forum"?

I played it earlier today; enjoyed it much. I see there is a V2 now. I'll be teeing it up tonight Any plans for the sister course?

Haha...indeed it is me over "there". Glad you enjoyed it! V2 is exactly the same, except the heavy rough is a more burned-out, linksy looking yellow.

No plans for the "big course" as of now...but that could change. There was a really good version on TGC 2019, and it's a shame it has not been ported over.

For my next project, I am thinking about creating a local municipal course that used to hold a PGA Tour event.

Great course MAB. I played it two days ago on the PC version and it's really pure and plays sweet. I'll be setting up a Society tournament there soon... nice work!
