I KNEW IT.

I said I would record all the "CPU AI" Pro shots I witness, and that after recording 1000 of them, I was bound to see some 100% identical "canned" shots.

To my SHOCK HORROR.............I only had to record 30 shots, and found 2 identical pairs of shots, 100% identical ball starting place, ball finish place, and even the position on the texture of the grass where the ball ends up, can be seen as the exact same.

I said they would "can" the shots and add different Pro players to the shots to make us believe they were all unique and being organically "played" in real-time........I was 100% correct.

I am repeating this post on Reddit, Operation Sports, 2K-HB's official forum where the devs ignore all my posts where I queried the "possibility" of this being the case, and Twitter.

They have cheated every single customer because to put a CPU Skill level slider in the game knowing the shots we see are not even played for real in the background in this steaming pile of ***** is shameful.

Such a pity, because if it had been real AI going on, this would be the best sports game EVER.

Disgusting behaviour.

£59.99 to be treated like this.

I'm not surprised, nor am I the least bit outraged by this. I also don't think the sliders correlate to an animation in a cutscene. They are literally the simmed (i.e. not seen) scores that the CPU affects the leaderboard. If they were that linear, I'd expect the leaderboard not to be affected the way it is on Korn Ferry tour - which has no animated tour player cutscenes.

I'm fairly certain most video games do this where they simply replace a couple of details and swap the NPC to accomplish the cutscene.

They allow you to turn off the pro highlights...not sure why anyone would expect them to be anything but canned shots that are repeated over and over again. I think it was the same way back in NFL 2K5, when they showed "highlights" from other games during the in-game weekly recap show.

I'm not trying to excuse it, but I have to say that it's not surprising that this is the way they did the clips. I don't really feel like anyone was cheated...these highlights are about what I assumed would be in the game. If anything, it's more frustrating that the scorebug on the highlights is glitched and shows a different shot than the one the pro is hitting half the time. That, plus the leaderboard inconsistencies and the overpowered licensed pros, are bigger issues, in my opinion.

Yeah, it was discussed for months they would just replaced the rivals in TGC 2019 by a pro in this game. This was totally expected. The biggest issue is still the bugged leaderboard after all those years, that's the biggest complaint I see everywhere and I can fully understand it. It's frustrating.

I'm not sure what the outrage is about, although maybe I'm missing the key point? Of course they're just stock canned shot animations and they change the pro hitting them. I wouldn't have expected anything different.

OP of course they are staged. It's meant for some immersion. It doesn't impact the scores overall. I have the highlights off and see no issues with scoring.

Sadly, I am really into CPU AI in Sports games, and normally avoid the games that have poor AI or none at all.

Multiplayer seriously does not float my boat, lol.

You wouldn't expect any different from HB? Would make sense after no AI in the previous TGC games. If you mean you wouldnt expect any different knowing its just highlights we see popping up, that does make sense, and it was clear as soon as we knew we couldnt see all their shots that this would 99% surely be the case. But the build up to release made out something different.

You would expect real CPU AI to be in a Sport games from all the other companies producing sports games, and this isnt 2K's fault really because all their other sports games have great AI, and I include the recent NBA 2K21 in that, which has amazingly lifelike AI in it.

Its just HB have no interest in AI but have decided to collude with 2K with this pretentious Pro's nonsense.

Are you not the same Matt10 who does the FIFA sliders?

Your last sentence implies that most sports games have just stats AI and no thinking going on, and if so, how come we all these brilliant sports games covering all sports now, with proper AI in them, or AI that is decent and we (myself included), mod that AI to make it play more like a human.

Cannot believe I am hearing various people making it seem like we are in an era where we have weak AI and systems we play the games on that cannot handle/include AI. Its 2020.

Only HB games, right now, are refusing to include CPU AI for opponents in a Sports simulation.


EDIT - Ok Matt10, maybe you meant non-Sports games, there being many that do similar with NPC's, I can agree with that of course.

I've got to admit, this thread is very entertaining. Even more that I've read the exact same one in other message board. It's outrageous that you ended up paying £59.99 for a feature you didn't like, when we've been discussing in 3 different message board for months it was going to be working that way, HB was just replacing shots from the rivals to those 'pro'.

And it seems you already knew from other HB TGC games how the AI was working in those. Absolutely outrageous. It would have been a lot simpler to do what I did and save you all that outrage, just not buying the game.

They are canned highlights for effect

The actual simulation of scores is unrelated to this and is more akin to Franchise mode in a sports game simulating stats for us and posting the numbers

If you remotely knew anything about game development this would have been a given. What game shows you live action of the CPU's shots that are happening off screen? Besides the NFL 2K games (Which used canned animations and just replaced the teams to corrospond to the announcer, btw) there are none. And even if there were, they would use canned animations and replace the character model with one that makes sense.

This thread is non-sense. Not only do these shots you see not affect the scoring in anyway that is different if you were to turn the shot showcases off, they're working competely as intended
