Sadly, I am really into CPU AI in Sports games, and normally avoid the games that have poor AI or none at all.

Watching the extensive preview videos and analyses, it was blatantly obvious to me that 2K21 wasn't going to have any AI at all, let alone poor AI. You're playing against a bell curve spreadsheet, not a leaderboard of of player, course, and condition attribute generated, stroke-by-stroke scores. If the spreadsheet determines that Bryson Dechambeau should be assigned a birdie on the 16th hole, the game code is going to find a canned video of a golfer making a birdie of some already determined fashion, and put Bryson't face on the golfer. It really has no contextual basis that's reflecting anything that was generated by AI.

Multiplayer seriously does not float my boat, lol.

Yeah, I can see where multiplayer not floating your boat would be a real side splitter I actually like the multiplayer in this game, even though it struggles in anything above 1 V 1 in public matchmaking... it works really well in private matchmaking, so far.

This seems like a very weird complaint.

Maybe it's because I don't personally really care about the highlight videos.

I didn't feel cheated because I'd already figured out how it was going to work before buying the game. It's not an issue that was going to be a make or break purchase decision for me personally. I've still only played one tournament in my fledgling Korn Ferry career, so I haven't even gotten to the point where these are going to be shown. I'll watch maybe three or four of them when and if I ever get that far, but even if they were genuine AI generated and played shots, I'd probably still turn them off in short order.

I tried to last as long as possible with the pro cutscenes on...they're the only way to actually see these guys in the game after all. But I just couldn't take it anymore.

The cutscenes slow the rounds down to a snail's pace. I like being able to churn through 18 holes in 15-20 minutes. Waiting on these highlights to boot up and play adds several additional and unnecessary minutes to the round. So they are off for me now, and probably will be for good. Nice idea, 'meh' implementation.

Although as I've already posted don't think this is a big deal, one reason is I turned the clips feature off day 1 as it takes way to long to start and get back to action and because they were mostly pointless

In fact in one match I was on same hole as JT and we were tied and I turned it back on just to see what they would show and while it did show one decent JT clip it wasn't relevant and neither were the others so turned it off immediately.

They need to show your pairing partner in the background as part of all your holes. And make the clips much more effective

I had to turn them off as well. They slow down the game way too much.


I'm more annoyed with the leaderboard - Justin Thomas shoots 6-under every round of every tournament. You need exactly 24-under to win, and if you beat him, he's the only player within 10 strokes of you. It would be more interesting if your "rival" was the one challenging you each tournament, but instead it's Justin Thomas every single event.

I KNEW IT.

I said I would record all the "CPU AI" Pro shots I witness, and that after recording 1000 of them, I was bound to see some 100% identical "canned" shots.

To my SHOCK HORROR.............I only had to record 30 shots, and found 2 identical pairs of shots, 100% identical ball starting place, ball finish place, and even the position on the texture of the grass where the ball ends up, can be seen as the exact same.

I said they would "can" the shots and add different Pro players to the shots to make us believe they were all unique and being organically "played" in real-time........I was 100% correct.

I am repeating this post on Reddit, Operation Sports, 2K-HB's official forum where the devs ignore all my posts where I queried the "possibility" of this being the case, and Twitter.

They have cheated every single customer because to put a CPU Skill level slider in the game knowing the shots we see are not even played for real in the background in this steaming pile of ***** is shameful.

Such a pity, because if it had been real AI going on, this would be the best sports game EVER.

Seems like a "non-issue" to me. Personally, I don't play video games to watch cut scenes. I've been gaming since the early 80's and have witnessed the entire evolution of all aspects of presentation in video games and haven't found a game yet that I enjoy or look forward to watching a cut scene of anything. Matter of fact I actively look to turn that stuff off. Would it be cool if that stuff was 100% organic and would that change my perspective on cut scenes? Maybe. Deal breaker? Nope. IMO this is the best console golf game I've ever played and I've played most of them.
