I'm a long time professional musician, and I've run a recording studio for the last 20 years. I'm an audio guy, big time. Maybe my ears are too audio-orientated, but one thing that has really annoyed me about 2k21, is how incredibly poorly recorded the commentator audio is.
You probably don't notice it when listening through your monitor or TV, but when you put buds or phones on, ALL of the Luke and Rich audio sounds like it was recorded while they were wearing headsets with cheap condenser mics that wrap around to your mouth. You can hear all of their breath, plosives (Ps, Ts, Fs, all of them) on every recorded phrase. It's vocal recording 101 type ****. The worst example are the few times when you hear Rich Beem get really loud and animated when a long putt appears to be going in (which almost never does whenever it triggers his response), when he yells, "Looking reeeeally gooood noooww!". It is so obviously over compressed and sounds unlike any other audio clip in the entire game. Again, audio recording 101 type stuff.
My point is, at this point in the development of any game, sports or otherwise, it's simply ridiculous that sub par level of basic voice over audio recording exists, in any format. It's that bad. I'm not talking about their performance, or how they "sound" as announcers or what they are saying. In fact I love Luke Elvey and John's commentary, and still leave it on most of the time. But the basic audio engineering blunders on the PGA Tour Career Mode with Luke and Beem are just awful. One of the many things I'm rooting for HB to fix for the next one.
