And it's perfect for them when players struggles in bunkers and takes 5 strokes to get out of there.

But the biggest challenges for devs, it's for customers to keep buying the next game. So if it's the same game over and over again (swing mechanic), there's no real reason to buy a new game aside for contents / graphics. And if there's not enough customers buying a golf game, it means stop making golf game again like EA did.
That's why I constantly make fun everyday of people who beg for realism in sports games. "B-B-But Drexel golf is tooo exxpeeensive I don't wanna do real golf"Nah dude if you want realism that much in a video game go play the actual sport and stop coping like a drug addict who can't get his next fix.
Yes that is to all the lames that want you to struggle shooting 80 in a ****ing virtual game instead of having fun while playing it.
I can't imagine being the guy who wants ****ing perfection and changes every sequel to make **** different. If the mechanics are not broken do not fix it.
I mean to be fair, EA made the biggest mistake of their life dropping Tiger who carried the franchise since TW99 for Rory. It's no wonder why sales for that trash *** game were so bad. Well guess what, when those game devs who **** **** up(Swing mechanic included)that did not need to be fixed to make **** "fresh" they should not be surprised when their game flops in sales and people like me stop supporting them.

I've made my feelings on this abundantly clear many times over the years so I won't belabor it again, but I don't feel that a really good console-based golf game has been made, perhaps ever, but at least since Links 2004 on the original XBox. That game was far from perfect and was a little light on content, but the core bones of the game were about as good as golf on a console has ever gotten IMO.

If 2K just reskins the last game and calls it a day, I have no interest. I played the last one quite a bit for a while, but then my interest sort of dropped off a cliff after the million little issues finally mounted up enough for me to cease feeling compelled to play.

            Well...this is from CrazyCanuck1985, a well-known course designer/content creator/2K NextMaker:

"Another week begins without an announcement of a new 2K PGA game.

Writing is on the wall, we aren't getting a new game next month.

And that's completely fine. I've shifted my expectations to late fall or Early 2023. Take all the time you need HB to make this game amazing."

It's in no way an "official" announcement or anything like that, so we could still see a release happen sooner. But I'd imagine this might be a strong indicator of when we could expect a new 2K golf game...

There are at least 3 pros now at LIV in their last game. Further, it must be a pain to have a PGA license and have a bunch of pros at LIV on the leaderboard and it's changing constantly. Must be chaos having a PGA license and trying to make a golf game right now.

2K also had the added set-back of having Tiger get seriously injured right before they announced their big exclusive deal with him.

Timing for both these new PGA Tour games could not have been worse.

A bit of an add-on to that previous post:

I did find myself in a Twitch stream today in which CrazyCanuck joined. He offered just a small bit of context around his tweet. He said he didn't have any official word on anything, but did know that LIV is likely affecting development, and also that HB was hit by COVID at some point, which also slowed down production of the new 2K golf game.

Yeah, everything is on the table now I suppose. The one thing that keeps me assuming that it would be out before summer would be that Take-Two had it listed as being released prior to April 1, 2023 on their most recent quarterly investor call.

I think the next call of theirs like that is early in August. I would expect more info then. But I'd really like more info before that.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the developments MAB. Your information is the most direct that I've heard thus far, and I'm sure that CrazyCanuck is definitely in the loop regarding it. I can't help but think that the state of flux the PGA is in right now with the LIV movements is giving both 2K and EA a fit. It makes my head hurt trying to come up with a solution as to how to resolve it. I've definitely written off August, 2022 as a possible release of PGA TOUR 2K23 because of it.

Popped into another CrazyCanuck1985 stream today...there was no "official" talk about when 2K23 might release, but he did say he had a "feeling" 2K23 might be coming out in/around October. That was the first time I had heard anyone mention a more specific time frame in that sense.

Again, it could have just been conjecture or his best guess/personal gut feeling, but at this point that's all we have...haha

That's about as good a source as we're going to be able to hear from at this point. I'm sure CrazyCanuck1985 has some inside skinny that would make him at least feel that. I'd guess that 2K is going to simply avoid using the names or any player likenesses of LIV players, at least at the time of release. I don't know how they'll have to handle players that migrate to the LIV after the game is released though?

Volt, have you seen or read (just have a feeling?) that he won't be? Not sure what you mean? Can't tell if you're being sarcastic haha. Unless something has changed and he's pulled out, how would he not be on the cover of 2k23?

I'm just hoping that he has advised them on improving the finer aspects of the game. It sure makes sense that at least HE will be playable, if so probably the only one that is. But something tells me that they won't even do that. I don't really care, I'm not interested in playing as a pro, but I think a lot of casual fans that are drawn to the game because of his name will be somewhat shocked and insulted if he's not playable.
