I know people are knocking the graphics, my opinion get the foundation going with deep content first. Then take the leap with a new engine. More times than not have we seen a jump with graphics but sacrifice content with that.

They can add tons more content to this game, but as far as I’ve heard, once they switch to a better graphics engine, it’s all gone.

Which is why they’ve yet to switch.

This foundation goes back to 2014 actually with TGC. This is NOT a game that 2K made.

I think it might be safe to assume that's why they're holding on to the existing engine - that if they switch the engine, the previous created courses will not be available.

So, it does boil down to this...do they want to release a game that will have an insane amount of user created content basically right off the bat (or as soon as designers port their courses over) that looks underwhelming graphically?

Or do they want to disregard over 5 years of content and start brand new from scratch to have an improvement in the look of the game, while also requiring a likely overhaul in how the game plays, too?

It's a tough call...eventually they will need to get on the same page as other "next-gen" games with their graphics. But right now, with such a still-strong base of players on last-gen systems, I think ensuring they have a lot of content and such is what keeps each version of this series being played for years, and not needed an annual release.

Hopefully this is the last 2014 game engine game, and 2K25 comes out with true PS5 visuals, the graphics are really holding this game back in my view. If this game looked beautiful , it could be a classic.

I'm trying to follow Crazy Canuck's the the official press release about the game's analog swing changes, and I'm having a hard time envision what, if anything, has changed. Here's a snip about it from the catalog page on the official website:

To begin the motion, pull straight back on the analog stick and time your push forward as the power meter reaches the sweet spot for a silky smooth shot laced down the fairway.

Tempo and timing are crucial with your windup; swinging too quickly will hook your shot and being too slow will cause a slice. A seamless, fluid follow-through will produce quality shots—and a rush of excitement.

Doesn't that sound like what we've got now? I've never heard the "seamless, fluid follow-through" stressed before. I was hoping that the swing path would now be the primary determinant of hook/slice in 2K23, but I honestly only held about a 5% degree of hope for that happening. This new analog swing might be something that has to be experienced to appreciate, so I'll hold off judgement until I get a chance to describe. Everything I've read, seen, and heard about it so far seems have those commenting on it at a disadvantage in trying to describe it.

Just watched a reaction video from JimGem, who's been a community guy for years and highlights courses and such.

He specifically calls out Justin Rose being one of the playable pros multiple times in this video...Rose was not mentioned in anything previously:

He also shows quite a bit of B-roll footage that shows off what the course designer will look like...seems it has a new UI that shows off more of the screen with less clunky menus.

Just re-read the Clubhouse Report blog that 2K posted...and I totally missed this bit yesterday:

"[Michael] Jordan is just one of the many of the playable celebrities in PGA TOUR 2K23, but you’ll have to wait for the rest."

First off, the grammar could use a bit of work...haha

But more importantly, it seems they will be adding some playable folks outside just the pros...I know this was a discussion point last week. Interesting to see who else they add (I would assume Shooter McGavin/Christopher McDonald would be one, given his massive presence in the marketing), and what the purpose of them will be in-game...just playing in offline modes, Topgolf, or what.

You'd have to think Happy Gilmore and Shooter McGavin (which, btw, would bring A TON of people to the game I bet).

I'd love to see Jake Owen in the game though, but it's not happening.

                      That would be hilarious!
But maybe Bill Murray, Tom Brady, Barkley etc.

If they have The Round Mound in the game they gotta replicate that old swing of his.

I see EA adding Brady. They already have him scanned and everything.

I respect 2k for putting Tiger on the cover and in the game. I really felt a way that EA abandoned Tiger like that due to some personal issues that had nothing to do with anything pertinent. EA turned their back on Tiger for a "right-now" pro that really can't come close to what Tiger did for the sport. He is the G.O.A.T and should be respected as such. I think 2K did that just to send a message to EA. Now, 2K should sign a deal with Nick Saban or Mike Ditka and make a football game to take a shot at John Madden.

To be fair, EA stuck with Tiger thru 2013. His personal issues began in November 2009. Most sponsors dropped him immediately.

                              From Wikipedia:

"Accenture, AT&T, Gatorade, and General Motors completely ended their sponsorship deals, while Gillette suspended advertising featuring Woods. TAG Heuer dropped Woods from advertising in December 2009 and officially ended their deal when his contract expired in August 2011. Golf Digest magazine suspended Woods's monthly column beginning with the February 2010 issue.

"In contrast, Nike continued to support Woods, as did Electronic Arts, which was working with Woods on the game Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online."

EA kept Tiger as face and name of their golf series for TW 11, 12, 13 and 14...all came out after his issues were made public.

I do think it's awesome he's back on a golf game cover, but it's perhaps going a bit too far to say that EA "abandoned" him.
