You play with all aids off? How are you able to judge the wind?
I play with no aim marker, use Master swing difficulty with all swing meters off, but do keep wind meter on with the specific wind speed. I have the elevation set to the same as in the post above, with it showing in the HUD. I also keep on the lie grid and putting grid. I think my XP multiplier is something like 1.92. I basically use the same settings in all modes as the Challenge Circuit uses over at TGCTours for their tour rounds.

If you choose to turn off having the exact wind speed in the wind meter, you can judge the strength of the wind by how filled up the wind meter's circle is. The more full the circle is filled up, the higher the wind is. I believe if the circle is half filled, the wind is about 12-13 mph. Here's some info about the wind meter if you play without the specific wind speed shown: https://youtu.be/8ZReS69KnO0?t=226

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
I see that you've done a swing calibration, so my next step would be to reduce the screen res to 1080p, and lock the vsync at 60 FPS. Doing that with PGA TOUR 2K21 made that version of the game play a lot smoother, with a swing that was more consistent. Seeing the game at that sale price tempted me to buy it, but after reading your report, I'm having second thoughts.

I'm really disappointed at how the game is performing, on average, on my Series X. It's gotten worse since the patch. The only way I can get consistent, smooth performance out of the game on my Series X is to boot the game up in offline mode and play it that way. The problem is that you can only play local games on official courses, so it's really not a solution.

I watch quite a few people on YouTube who I believe are playing on PC. The game looks infinitely better than what mine looks like on PS4 and they don't seem to be having any problems with the game running poorly.

I play on an xbx in performance mode and to me the game runs smooth. I know visuals can be a personel thing but for me at least it seems as smooth running as 21 was.

ive updated my opinions in post after that one. I was swinging to hard. Once i mastered the tempo it plays great. I have a 2070 and playing in 4k with no hiccups. Just hate how bouncy the ball is

If you feel that way play with soft fairways and greens. I don't really see the ball bouncing like it did in 21. Use backspin on approaches it might not seem so extreme as it does to you now.

Mostly its drives that land in the rough and bounce out. Also chip shots feel like a roller coaster sometimes. Something with the physics feel off, could just be me

The drives bouncing out of rough has been an issue in previous 2K/The Golf Club games, too. The chipping is new this year, as they made greens much more slick and speedy. In 2K21, chipping was overpowered and it was easier to chip in from off the green than it was to hole putts.

If the game played as smoothly and consistently in online mode as it does in offline mode, I'd have no complaints about it. There are times when it plays quite well online, but even then there will be one or two inexplicable tempo sequences in a round.

I was playing a Career mode round this morning... (yes, I actually am playing a season in Career mode for the first time since PGA Championship Golf 2000!) and I got an out of the blue, off the chart "Very Fast" tempo. The ball never got more than 8 feet off the ground and went 97 yards... didn't even make it to the fairway. My next shot suffered the same fate... it was a 3 Hybrid that went 90 yards, off the scale on the Very Fast side of the meter.

I quit the round, exited to the main menu, quit the game from the launch icon, restarted the game from the menu, and resumed my round. There wasn't a hint of any inexplicable Very Fast tempos for the rest of the round, although there were a few shots that were sluggish.

Could a person get around this by turning mulligans on?

Played a bunch tonight, including with my friend on private match. Totally have the pin placement and tee box thing worked out. All good.

Also played 4 1v1 9 hole matches. I remembered, being a full time pro singer, guitarist and drummer, that the way to get the tempo down, is to count like a drummer on the back and down swing. "One-eana-two-eana" as I'm shooting. I did this in 2k21 but forgot about it. Really helps me. Shot under par all night and won every 1v1 match. Rhythm, baby. Loving the game.

Last thing, using a flop out of green side bunkers instead of splash (since they removed chips) is sooo much more forgiving than splash shots. I'll never use a splash shot again unless they tune and patch them.

That's awesome. That's basically what I've been doing. 1 to initiate the backswing, 2 for the pause, and 3 for the follow through.

It's funny how this game mimics some of my real life golf ability. I've always had a knack for a splash and flop shot in real life but struggle with consistency everywhere else.
And I'm exactly like this in game.
