I've been apart of OS for a long time and even the Madden one has more optimism. The doom and gloom around here for a game that we've seen very little of is pretty intense.

You've misunderstood the context of what I was replying to there ^^

It was a comment about civility of the OS forum and the different sections.

Positive or negative feelings aside, per user and per situation, I do feel we have a very civil and open and accepting space here in the golf area, which is really great! (I think)

In 2k, I believe a fast swing always goes left and a slow swing always goes right (correct me if I am wrong). So maybe in EA PGA if you swing slow or fast, it could go either direction depending on your swing plane and swing speed.

In PGA TOUR 2K23, a fast swing hooks proportionally to the degree of "fastness", while a slow swing tempo fades/slices. The swing path determines push or pull. Their implementation is, IMO, opposite of what it should be. The swing path should be the chief determinant of hook/slice and tempo should be the chief determinant of push/pull.

I tend to be fast with my tempo at times in real life golf and it causes my hips to rotate prematurely and close the clubface at impact. If my swing path was true, I'll pull the shot, but it won't hook. It's the opposite in 2K23. I understand why HB Studios did this... it's a countermeasure against cheaters who alter controller tunings to negate off axis swings. An off axis swing in 2K23 is less punitive than an off tempo swing because HB decided to correlate the more difficult to negate tempo to the more potentially punitive hook/slice component... even though it's counter to physics.

I thought I understood the mechanics of the previous game but was informed that EA made them random so not sure what to think.

I could never figure out why a miss in Rory went where it did and to what degree.

Other sections aren't as bad anymore as they used to be. Twitter and other social media outlets have really done a good job at driving trouble away.

But this section has always (and still is) a safe sanctuary for me and is head over heels better than any of the other big game sections.

The analog swing and its results are a little hinky. 3 click is perfect and the dispersion is excellent. First click is power. The second click is the swing path straight left and right and to what degree. The third click is open or closed face. Works really well. If you're really good and I am not you can hit a myriad of different shots.

Don't mean to be overly pessimistic, but my gut tells me they would have delayed another 6 months if they could but are contractually obligated to release by the start of The Masters, in a similar fashion to how Madden, NHL, etc need to be released by the start of their respective seasons. We've seen very little from a game that was supposed to be released less than 3 weeks from now

Unfortunately true.

If the team was confident in their product, the marketing machine and hype would be in full swing. Instead this is coming in hot, required to be live by the Masters. This late delay gives me Cyberpunk vibes. Pre-order cancelled.

I've got a feeling only some casuals will like this game. Both Sim and Arcade players will hate it just like Rory. But I'm sure the game will have very good reviews by game critics... in large part because they will compare it to Rory 15 for contents.

Can’t say I see the similarities but I picked CD projekt reds game up a year after it released for a great price & thought it was a top notch game.
Maybe if you come back in a year & do something similar you might be surprised. There’s plenty round here that’ll give an honest impression in the coming weeks.

How long before launch does a game go gold?

Can’t say I see the similarities but I picked CD projekt reds game up a year after it released for a great price & thought it was a top notch game.
Maybe if you come back in a year & do something similar you might be surprised. There’s plenty round here that’ll give an honest impression in the coming weeks.

That game ain't my cup of tea but they fixed it so yeah getting it after a year was smart. I don't see that with EA Golf though what they release is going to be what it is save for adding 3 click and maybe some online player options. If the game plays decently in 30fps they won't bother to do anything about it. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

With the whole 30fps backlash, I’m wondering if the two extra weeks they are optimizing it just enough to where 30 will look good to the casual gamer.

I don't know for sure, but I believe its around 4-5 weeks prior to release date that a game goes gold. That gives them time to produce the discs and get the game out to retailers in time for release date.

The 1-2 weeks would allow them time to add more content to a/the day 1 patch.

I will agree 1 trillion percent that people are definitely way more civil with their criticism in here. I do appreciate it.

It's just every thread is full of post after post of "this is just Rory." Or some other pessimistic take from such little information that really can't be that well informed.

Anyways I don't want to fill this thread with complaints about complaints either so I'll leave it at I truly appreciate everyone's passion for Golf games.
