Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Gameplay Walkthrough Starts in 5 Minutes
Pros:
Courses and ambient environment are fantastic.
Seems like the online system works well. (this probably was closed server tho)
The gear selection is fun and varied, albeit a party trick.
Love the shot variety.
Cons:
Player models look last-gen.
Club/Swing sounds are all over the place
Difficulty looks really bad. MAKE GOLF CHALLENGING.
Presentation is lacking in post-shot, etc. It feels like Rory. I thought we'd see a fresh take on this... the quiet stale focus on the last-gen player models is tired.
I'm pretty confident that we'll be able to make the game as hard as we want. My main concern now is how AWFUL the putting stance is, with the toe of the putter pointing up. It looks like they are taking a sand shot, both the stance of the golfer and the putter angle need to be addressed immediately. It's really ugly.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Gameplay Walkthrough Starts in 5 Minutes
I have to say my heart sank watching that. Waaay too easy. I'll mess about with options to try to make the game a challenge but it might come down to waiting for 3-click. I've never been able to master the hardest 3-click levels but I wouldn't be surprised based on today's evidence if they make those too easy as well. Apex didn't look too enthused. What little excitement he managed sounded contrived. A depressing experience.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Gameplay Walkthrough Starts in 5 Minutes
Apex chimed in on the youtube comments that he's going to be releasing a full review on all difficulty settings and options soon. He said "after I play it for awhile and not immediately after my first 18 holes" or something like that.
Really looking forward to that to quell the fears we have that this will be too easy even on Sim mode. I'm pretty sure we can tweak it how we want. Hopefully tournaments and societies come up with a standard "sweet spot" for difficulty so everyone is challenged, even the guys that will end up shooting 18 under on the most difficult setting you can create lol.
I'm excited, but a bit underwhelmed. But looking forward to burning many hours next week either way.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Gameplay Walkthrough Starts in 5 Minutes
Definitely the 3 big issues for me right now are, speed up the swing tempo a bit, smooth the swing animation transition right when contact is made, and FIX the stance of the golfer and angle of the putter.
I was also really hoping the wind was blowing so we can find out for sure if the trees are indeed totally static. That would really suck if so but I can look past that if they fix the above and the right difficulty can be dialed in.
I definitely didn't notice any issues with drawing in of grass in the distance, so hopefully that was an anomaly from the past videos.Comment

I agree with all of this, but reading comments from the youtube screen, Pro is only the 2nd highest level, then Tour, and Sim. They are saying you can even make Sim mode more difficult than the default settings.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Gameplay Walkthrough Starts in 5 Minutes
I think the game played much smoother than I expected it to play, based on how choppy previous videos and trailers looked. That was a huge improvement.
I will say, and I think someone else mentioned it too, that it would have been nice to have the tour atmosphere on for one of the 9s, like especially at Sawgrass, to see what that looked and sounded like. I love being able to play the courses with no crowd and tourney objects, but it also makes the whole thing feel lifeless. And Sawgrass was made to literally have massive crowds everywhere.
There will be no doubt that the game can be made more challenging, but it seems like a lot of tweaking will be needed to do so. Then, I would assume all the weekly events will be set to "stock" difficulties, like they were in past EA golf games. That's one thing I don't like about 2K23, is that all ranked online play or official society play is only stock Pro difficulty. So hopefully EA will have a Pro event, a Tournament event, and a Simulation event for people who want to play on different settings.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Gameplay Walkthrough Starts in 5 Minutes
On one hand Apex is right to point out he's on his "first 18 holes" of the game...but by the same token, he's never touched it before and he's doing so well it's drop dead boring. I question whether that should happen on any difficultly level at all honestly.
You'd think the folks even watching a YouTube presentation like that are defacto golf game diehards -- which is a group that, at this point of the release cycle, would probably mostly liked to have seen something other than "auto birdie golf"Comment
