EA PGA - AI difficulty and putting

Two questions -

1) What difficulty setting for AI scoring are people using and seeing realistic results!

2) Putting unusually use no grid or grid with no beads, but how do I access different cameras when putting to view the break?

AI scoring at the default 50 seems to be accurate scoring.

R1 on PS5 to change camera angles.

You can hit zoom and then left stick to rotate around and zoom in on the green around your ball.

Does not allow you to get as low as 2k does but gives you a decent idea

Can’t zoom if you play with shot aim off. This is a big miss with this game when putting since the camera angles are awful.

I had it at 90 for the US AM and someone shot -12 and -5 was the closest.

Played first round of Masters and had some guys taking it pretty deep. A few -7s -6s. Would be curious as well what others are using and what results they are getting?

One issue. On 50 Ai scoring you see round roughly at -6. Problem is players are not consistent so after round 1 the leader is -6. But then in other rounds other players score -6 and the leader may score +4 so he falls away. AI scores seems totally random. That means the lead score stays around -6/7 as people simply move around in rounds 2-4. There is no consistent scoring from the same player. I appreciate on real life the same player doesn’t score low on every round but I’d expect to see the leading score increase in every round and it isn’t.

Look at the Masters:

Round 1 was -7
Round 2 is -12

Not seeing that in game.

Do I need to increase AI scoring? May have to play around with settings and start my career again.

Did the US Amateur - leader was -6 after round one. After round 4 was -3, still the leader. I could understand if it was the US Open. Same happened my first tournament in Korn Ferry Tour.

Though in real life leader after 3 could be -14 and wins at -11. That happens. So who knows.

There is an intelligent algorithm working in the background. If everyone posted their results for the same tournament you would see a variety of outcomes/results. I played tourneys where I won by double digits and others where on quick play it would have taken near perfection to make the cut.

I personally love the variety of outcomes and have never seen it yet where the results seem ridiculous in either direction. I think the more you play the more you will appreciate what they have done.

That said I do believe as players get better they may need to tweak when the AI is set to 100. I have been playing on that and am not quite challenged enough unless I handicap myself past the point I would like to play on. There may be other things coming in gameplay that will solve that potential problem too.

Good to hear something is going on in the background rather than the AI just assigning random scores.

Been playing with AI scores and levels.

At 100 most tournaments need a score of -20/-25 to win. At 50 it’s usually in the teens.

Using this years Masters and the cut line an AI level of 50 seems close to real life scores hence the reason it defaults to that as the cut was around +2/3. When I simmed at 100
AI the cut was under par (not realistic)

I am doing 75 AI. On default Tour difficulty. On pga tour. Just won pebble Beach on playoff with 2 other players, man so tense. My first win. Shot a -15 after 72 holes. Absolutely loving career mode. Cannot stop playing.

On pc the ai is once agon broken. This have just ported over the Rory golf ai to this game.
The only way to make the ai in career mode actually work properly is to have it on 100.
Any lower and it's absolutely ridiculous.
The npc first round leading scores are always the final round leading scores, or worse. Their scores never move forward. Just as it was in Rory golf.
I have tried the game at various settings. 60,75 and 90 and everyone has the same bug.
But I've just tested the game at 100 and finally the scores move forward after round 1. However I don't know what happens after round 2.
I also doubt the ai is actually responsive and that it's a basic algorithm that pushes the game forward in a very computerised manner.
EA never bother to implement ai properly in their games as it costs too much money and cuts their profits.
And judging from all the comments over the years, hardly anyone seems to care about such things as ai.
I actually aired my concerns about the ai on here prior to release.
So if if want a golf game with brilliant ai then you'll have to go back 25 years to a little game called British championship golf. Nothing since has compared to that games ai.
The game flopped because it was deemed too realistic anc difficult.
But if proper ai could be done 25 years ago then it can do done today.
Unfortunately hardly anyone cares about such things. Maybe they never did.

First event of the season, The American Express at La Quinta.
The best AI score was -19 (T1).
Needless to say, they weren't -19 after Thursday.

I currently have it set at 80 and seeing good results (might have been 75 at the event above).

For putting, I use the "no beads" setting and for elevation I only have direction. I find it both enjoyable and challenging and can't see myself changing it any time soon.

I play on PC if that matters.

Im using Sim with no beads, full elevation, direction only wind, and shot shaping on, with zoom but only inside 50 yds (house rule) and im getting super realistic scores for myself. Just need to dial in the AI

Can we change the AI scoring between rounds in a tournament or set it only once at the start of a tournament?
