I don't use specs so not sure. But I found irons 4-7 to be tough to get ball to stop. 8 and 9 irons create less spin? Ball doesn't roll off green so quickly though. I use 7 wood over 3 iron.

Round 2 started off weird with bogey, birdie, bogey. Then I got hot and finished the front nine at 4 under. Back 9 was okay, but the double bogey on 14 cost me. Finished with even par on the back 9 cause of that.

So we stand at -10 and tied for secobd with Matthew Fitzpatrick. Matt Kuchar who lead coming in still leads at -7. Very fun playing the game. Would be awesome to win the tournament for my first major.

I'm in season 2, I won the players in very exciting fashion, only my 3rd tournament win total. Then I get to the Masters, and again missed the cut. I finally shot even on the 2nd round but I was 5 over on the first.

I love Augusta, but I hate trying to play under par on it. It's soo soo hard!

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Round 3 at the Player's is complete. Finau shot a 63 to jump into 3rd at -12.

Kuchar shoots a 69 and total of 14 under now.

I shoot a 34 on the front 9 so not bad. PIN location changes definitely has made each round progressively more difficult.

Back 9 shot 34 as well. Some really good putts to save par on 17 and 18 to save my round.

We are TIED at -14 with Matt Kuchar to end round three. Sucks I can't have him as my playing partner. Instead it will be Sungjae Im, who is tied for 3rd with Finau at 12 under.

Weird that the leaders tee off at 1130, 1136, and 1142am. Is this right? I assumed tee time would be around 2-3pm at the earliest for a major.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Anyone feel like playing partner turned on creates the AI to play horrendously?

Round 2 Finau shot a 75 (+3) playing alongside me. Round 3 Xander Schauffle shot a 76 (+4) playing along side me.

I can't remember my playing partner for round one, but I know he pretty much sucked as well. I'm probably just going to turn them to final round only even for majors. It's what I use for quick play and I like it. But part of me thinks it would be best turned completely off.

They never make a putt past 6 feet it seems. Bunker play is atrocious. They always underswing their drives. And all par 5s they hit 3 wood off the tee. It's pretty awful golf to watch to be honest.

Quick play I can handle it cause final round is always holes 14 or 15-18. But for all 18 holes they seem to shoot well over par.

I do have scoring difficulty at 50. I'm not raising it just so they play better. If that even works. It's hard enough to contend so no reason to raise it. Plus the scores are realistic when compared to real life at the course playing at.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Final round at The Player's Championship!

I start off great with a birdie at 1 to take the lead at 15 under. However a shot in the water at hole 4 meant a double bogey. I am all of a sudden two shots back from Tyrrell Hatton who had a crazy good front 9.

Matt Kuchar chokes and away after a +2 on the front 9, taking him out of contention. Meanwhile we fight back and birdie holes 6 and 9 to finish the front 9 at -1. We are two back headed to the home stretch.

Hole 11 I make a great approach shot to get it on the green in two. I make the 13 foot putt for eagle and we are now at 17 under! Hatton bogey on hole 10 and we now lead by one stroke!

Hole 12 it was unfortunately given back after a missed 5 foot putt for par. Tied at 16 under with Tyrrell Hatton to begin the par 3 hole 13 here at TPC Sawgrass. Hatton unfortunately is one hole behind me somehow. Don't understand how he tees off before me being two shots behind me to start the round but whatever.

12mph winds blowing in from right to left. I hit a tremendous shot on the par 3. Get it within 5 feet. Sink the easy birdie putt and take the lead once again!

Hatton birdies 13 as well and we are TIED at 17 under as I begin the 15th hole. Hole 16 we get it on the green in two, looking for a lag putt to get the easy birdie. Easiest hole by far as I have birdied hole 16 all four rounds. 18 under and a one shot lead headed to the historic 17th hole at Sawgrass.

Hole location on right side making a birdie near impossible with winds blowing out from left to right at 10mph. I hit a nice wedge shot to get it close though and have a 14 foot putt for birdie. Can't make it unfortunately though.

Hatton bogeys hole 16 somehow and I head into the 18th with a 2 shot lead. Hatton has to birdie 17 to have a chance so it looks good for me so long as I don't hit the water. A perfect tee shot to begin. My approach shot from 150yds I'm just thinking par to win it. Leave myself 26 feet for birdie. A steep downhil putt but straight. We go out in style with the birdie

We WIN the Player's Championship! Shot a 67 and needed every bit of it. Hatton pressed us shooting a 66 out of nowhere. He would've ran away with it if he had one other round that good.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Darth, thanks for sharing all of that. Very well written and I read every word. Excellent.

I had a very similar experience last week, at the same event. I had only won 2 minor events in a season and a half, and went down to the wire with a very nail biting finish at The Players and won by 2 on the last 2 holes. It was awesome.

I have to admit though, it's getting frustrating not being able to win a couple more tournaments here and there. I don't want to win all of the time, or even most of the time, but having 160 hours in the game on Tour mode for a season and a half and only having 3 wins is a bit...humbling lol. Both seasons I've been in the top 10 in the cup standings, lots of top 10 finishes, etc. But damn it's frustrating to be near the top or even in first in the final round and then hitting the water or whatever and losing by a couple of strokes. Such is golf. It's a blast.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

What kind of % of tourneys do real golfers win? If anything, me winning two early minor tourneys seemed like a problem, and I considered raising difficulties.

I would not have minded going a season or two without a win, as long as I'm improving.

I admit, though that after winning two, I started my next tourney +2 after seven holes. I was kind of frustrated and decided I was not in the right headspace, so I saved it for later. Came back a few days later and finished the round -1, which is now the projected cut line.

Technically, golfers have to play through their bad mindset days, as that is part of the challenge. But, man, I love how easy it is to play partial rounds and come back, and you still get the XP for what you did finish.

Really don't know the percentages, but I can't imagine your better pro golfers winning anymore than 3 or 4 tournaments in one season. And 4 would be very difficult as you're against other professionals. I would think on average your top pros win 2-3 in an entire season. Of course you have your Tiger Woods who probably won 5-7 in a year before.

                      Here's a list from a 2016 article I found.

These are guys that have won at least 10.

                      And yeah, Tiger is absurd.

Phil Mickelson: 42 wins in 542 events -- 7.75 percent
Vijay Singh: 34 wins in 584 events -- 5.82 percent

Ernie Els: 19 wins in 420 events -- 4.52 percent
Jim Furyk: 17 wins in 551 events -- 3.09 percent
David Toms: 13 wins in 607 events -- 2.14 percent
Adam Scott: 13 wins in 259 events -- 5.02 percent
Zach Johnson: 12 wins in 330 events -- 3.64 percent
Justin Leonard: 12 wins in 583 events -- 2.06 percent
Steve Stricker: 12 wins in 459 events -- 2.61 percent
Dustin Johnson: 11 wins in 194 events -- 5.67 percent
Rory McIlroy: 11 wins in 111 events -- 9.91 percent

Awesome find! Yeah if I was winning nearly one out of every four tournaments like Tiger I'd feel like I need to increase difficulty somehow. That is crazy what he accomplished.

So I skipped the next tournament regrettably now lol. Played Carolina Ope. At Kiawah Island and it was really bad. I do quick play btw. Round one I play holes 13-18. We are +2 already and I finish round even par with a very lucky birdie at the par three 17 on a pitch shot off the green.

Second round we start and play holes 5-9. Well we decided really suck and bogey the first four holes. Then unfortunately I was unable to master the crazy winds so I bogeyed holes 5-7. I birdie 8, then bogey 9. Truly a disgraceful performance on my part. Missed the cut at +8.

So now we have reached The Masters. Idk when I will get this finished. But hopefully by end of this coming weekend. Turned playing partners off cause it was hard to watch them play so badly.

I turned the zoom aim off for the final round of The Player's and really like the bit of extra difficulty. Masters will be a lot of fun. Goal is to finish top 10 but idk. It's not going to be easy of course.

I’ve been playing 18 holes and 4 rounds. I’m just taking my time, playing just one or two rounds a day. Then I either mess around with challenges or tourneys, or I play something else for a awhile.

Welp, just absolutely blew my first season.

Going into playoffs, I had a solid 4-500 point lead on #2 in the FedEx rankings.

Missed cut on first playoff round

                              T36th in second round

Going into tour final, I was in third place now. Finished in 5th but it was too late by then... Heartbreaking way to go out after playing some of the greatest golf yet in the three weeks leading up to the playoffs

This was my initial idea and way I began. Shortly realized I'll never finish even one season if I did that. Using quick play and I still may not lol. I still have so long to go.
