Glad they're adding the PGA rotation now but disappointed it's not including courses already in the game that hosted majors in the past. I get Whistling Straits and Chambers Bay being in because they were in Rory, but why add Kiawah Island and not put it in a PGA rotation? The only reason I can think of is using it for Ryder Cup challenges we will probably get. It's not a huge negative for me anymore, but I still want 4-5 courses to rotate between for the US Open and PGA, realism be slightly damned.
These should be the major rotations they have at some point down the line, based on courses that are already in/will be coming and which evens these courses have hosted or will host:

      The Masters: Augusta

PGA Championship: Southern Hills, Oak Hill, Kiawah, Whistling Straits, Quail Hollow

US Open: The Country Club, LACC, Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, Chambers Bay, Olympia Fields

The Open Championship: St Andrews, Royal Liverpool

I went back into Tiger Woods 14 Masters Historic Edition on my X360, which I have no extra paid DLC for. I can have the US Open played at Oakmont, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst No. 2, or Torrey Pines. The Open can be played at St Andrews, Royal Birkdale, or Royal Troon. The PGA can be played at Oak Hill, Atlanta Athletic Club, Crooked Stick, Kiawah, PGA National, or Valhalla. Crazy how that game still blows these new ones away in some areas.

I fear I'm going to be going back to playing Tiger Woods 14 again, because there's just not enough variety of courses in this game. I think it's a great game, but needs more courses. I'm willing to buy DLC for more courses, like I did with TW14. I was genuinely hoping for more than one extra course in this "big" update.

I think the only courses they have mentioned as being released in the game will be this year's major hosts (prior to each event), Olympia Fields before the FedExCup Playoffs, and Marco Simone before the Ryder Cup.

          Per the official website: https://www.ea.com/games/ea-sports-p...-community-faq

What is the current live service timeline?

The 2023 major courses including Oak Hill, Los Angeles Country Club, Royal Liverpool as well as Olympia Fields as a part of the FedExCup series and Marco Simone for the Ryder Cup will be released prior to each major championship.

We will also be releasing updates alongside golf’s biggest moments like The Majors, FedExCup and Ryder Cup with compelling new content tied to current and historic golf moments for players to enjoy.

Maybe more will be added after that, but for now, those are the only courses that are on the way.

I'm fine with 30 courses at launch, and by the time we get to the Ryder Cup, 32 or whatever it is. Just don't force me to play all of them 4 times in a row if I don't have time for it, and I'm not at all into shooting under par only to have Quick Round fill out my score with a +5.

Quick Round is like simulating your entire season in the Show, playing the game as a manager. It's useless in golf. They will get this fixed, I know. Should not have shipped this way though.

We've been there before with the old TW series. When there was not enough customers supporting the games on PC, EA stopped making the game for PC and kept going with the consoles.

I feel the same way, it's tedious to play 4 rds all the time. And I had the same experience with quick rounds, playing -4 for 5 holes and got simulated to a 73. At the same time, Scheffler shots a 63 and more than half the field were in the 60s.

Even though we're playing this new EA game, I'm still playing a few rounds of TW14 just about every day to support my daughters Country Club. Wish swing tempo and ball physics would be as good with this new game as it was back then.

Missed this comment before...I definitely agree with you here, scagwi.

But one thing to remember is that PGA 2K23 didn't even have ranked multiplayer until 4-5 months after it released. It then took another 2-3 months for 2K to implement ranked seasons with rewards, which reset everyone's ranking and started everyone over at level zero again. That happened just two weeks ago or so, and 2K23 came out last October.

EA PGA is barely 1 month old.

These games release now with minimal features, barely enough content, and bugs and glitches that need to be addressed. As golfnut67 mentioned earlier, EA PGA probably won't be a "finished" game until after the Ryder Cup.

Personally I feel 30 (35 by end of year) is plenty of variety, but having 40+ available in TW14 was nice. Although I didn't get all of them before they pulled the plug on DLC so I can't take full advantage of it.

I think there's pros and cons to the DLC way and the live service way, the DLC way gives options for people to buy more if they want but it cost >$100 to get all courses on the game which is a lot. And locking the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs (Bethpage) behind a DLC unless you pre-ordered from a specific site was kinda crappy. Thankfully they didn't put any DLC courses in the major rotations, but on the flip side it would've been nice to have Whistling Straits and Bethpage be free and on the rotations.

It's honestly not that concerning. This game is one of the few PC games that buying on Steam is not the prefered way to purchase.

So this doesn't include EA app purchased versions which consists not only outright purchases but people that play through EA Play Pro subscription. A lot of people that play sports games on PC have an EA play pro subscription cause it's such a sick deal.

Not saying that sales are astronomically better than what steam is showing. The game most certainly isn't a sales chart topper but I bet that it falls into what was expected and it's not bad.

Golf season is just ramping up in a lot of North America and if they keep adding and improving things will tick up.

I think the more alarming stats are the active players. 21K players have bought the game thru Steam, but the peak number of players in the last 24 hours is 484? Means not many people are still playing the game, just one month after release. Just for comparison's sake, that same site says the peak number of PC players on PGA 2K23 in the last 24 hours is 2,336...

I think that EA number will climb after tomorrow's update, but for how long? Will be interesting to see.

I actually think the nice weather and golf season starting means it will be harder for the game to get traction. People here by me in America's Dairyland/The Frozen Tundra want to be outside, since we can't leave the house for 6 months out of the year.

Again, will be interesting to watch.

It seems most went back to the HB/2K game. No surprise, it's a better golf sim, specially for picky golfers.
