And you're correct, when 2k went to 60fps without vsync, it was transformational in how the swing felt. Ya, it looked a bit better too, but it was more about how the game played and how it refined the swing animation.Last edited by golfnut67; 05-17-2023, 03:13 PM.Comment

Personally, I will be disappointed if they only rotate majors between two courses, like they currently are with the PGA Championship. Seems like a waste of a lot of these major host venues.
Hoping that's something that continue to update later down the line.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Ya I had this experience after a couple of weeks of the EA game. I went back to 2k and it seems just whiplash fast on the swing. Shockingly so.Comment

I can completely understand why 2k people think EAs game is sluggish. Like you though, I tried playing 2k the other day and it felt so crazy fast and twitchy.
This is a "too each their own" scenario and I'd never talk down to anyone who felt either way.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Just want to make sure I’m not missing anything here….with the new low putting camera view, can we actually putt using this camera or only preview the putt?
I’m just now playing around with it and so far can only preview and read my putt. I would like to hit my putt from that cam if possible.

One would think that from a code perspective that once they implemented a rotation, adding additional courses would be trivial.Comment

Also just got my first lip-out in about 30 holes of play. It lipped around like 2/3 of the hole lol, felt natural though cause the ball looked like it would slide by so it must've been at the very edge of the cup.NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Adds Oak Hill Country Club, Camera Views and Much More - Patch
The thing with the rotational majors is that many of these courses were part of rotations back in either TW 14 or in Rory.
Rory, post-release, had the PGA rotate between Whistling Straits and Quail Hollow, the US Open rotate between Chambers Bay and Oakmont, and The Open rotate between St Andrews and Royal Troon. It's odd they couldn't allow these above courses that are in the new EA PGA (all of them, except Royal Troon and Oakmont) to be included in major rotas, so that this new game would allow Whistling Straits and Quail Hollow to be PGA Champ. hosts, too. And Quail Hollow is hosting the PGA again in 2025, so it seems that it should be in there. And Kiawah just hosted the PGA a couple years ago...seems like a slam dunk that they have all these as part of the majors, since that was the whole selling point of the game.
In TW 14, you could rotate between all kinds of options...the Historic Masters Edition with no other DLC let you rotate the US Open between Oakmont, Pebble, Torrey, and Pinehurst No. 2. If you had the DLC, this was your US Open rota:
Colonial
Bethpage (Black)
Oakmont
Pebble Beach
Pinehurst No. 2
Torrey Pines
And here was your PGA Championship rota with DLC:
Oak Hill
Atlanta Athletic Club
Crooked Stick
Kiawah Island
PGA National
Whistling Straits
Valhalla
Seems like EA could get this done...that's why I am hoping it's just a matter of time. But I think it's more an issue of getting the courses set up with major-specific details like grandstands, commentary, etc. into the game that's holding things back.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Holy smokes the putting got much harder
To many lip outs and much harder to gauge speed and break imo
I like some of the update but this has taken this into a level of frustration nowComment

^^This is the key. if they just upscale the game to 60FPS without filling it out with more animation frames, it's not going to make much of a difference. Here's hoping.
And you're correct, when 2k went to 60fps without vsync, it was transformational in how the swing felt. Ya, it looked a bit better too, but it was more about how the game played and how it refined the swing animation.
I made the stipulation I did about the number of animation frames being available to properly drive the 60 FPS capability because I can make the PC version of EA Sports PGA Tour run at 60 FPS by cutting the resolution and detail back. When I do the swing looks a little smoother, but it still feels like there's an artificial animation speed limit being imposed on it be the game code. IOW, the sensation of 'swinging the club underwater' is still there.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

What I have found is that the 60 FPS animation in 2K23 allows me to feel a finer degree of modulation, even at the slower, overall swing speed I use. When I look at replays of my swing in the game when I'm swinging the club at a speed that feels normal, the animation reflects that, which I find quite rewarding.Duke Football?
