EA Sports PGA Tour U.S. Open Update Patch Notes

Experience golf's original major, The Open, at the historic Royal Liverpool Golf Club, and compete for the Claret Jug only in EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™. - Complete new challenges and quests inspired by the rich history and prestige of The Open. - Compete in online tournaments to test your skills and earn rewards. - Get new gear from top brands like Under Armour, Titleist, and Adidas, and check out The Open collection.

Turn-based online, 60 fps, and changing career mode rounds are NOT in.

"Lastly, we appreciate your patience as we continue to work hard behind the scenes to deliver a 60 FPS performance mode for consoles, additional event length options for career mode, and turn-based online gameplay."

The big updates are the removal of "notches" from the swing meter, and the aiming arc changing color if you're going to hit trees with a shot...

Well at least they finally acknowledged turn play and choosing rounds. That's a good thing. I guess we just have to wait longer. I'm enjoying it in the meantime but those 2 things along with more online modes will make this the best golf game ever. Sucks to wait so long for stuff that should have been in the game from the start.

Looks like they fixed commentary for match play, wasnt this an issue you have brought up in the past?

        Hmm

Seems a bit ho-hum after reading though it

I mean, they did acknowledge these things back in the week after launch, too. These answers were from April 12 - https://www.ea.com/games/ea-sports-p...nity-feedback:

          Career Mode Rounds

"In previous versions of pre-release builds, players had an option for 1 round tournaments which we later had to remove in order to avoid issues with commentary, quests, statistics, and general bugs that were found in pre-release testing. We have heard your feedback around wanting more options outside of Quick Play and Full Rounds during Career Mode and are exploring ways to provide you with more choice in this area."

          Online

"We will be providing updates to online game formats in the live service window. We’ll share more details about these game formats in the future, but we want to assure you that the team has heard the feedback and is working hard to bring you more online choices."

I do agree that it's good they're working on them. But the fact there have been 3 or 4 updates now, and each one has to address the highly requested things they CAN'T fix...that's a little unfortunate.

Ya I was happy to see this, I just hope they actually fixed the scoring for match play, not just the commentary being wrong. I love match play and it's been completely unplayable since day one. I'm going to play a round later and see if they fixed both. Hope so.

Correct, I knew they mentioned early on that they had to turn off turn play and were working on additional online formats. I'm not sure I've seen them acknowledge they were working on turn play? Either way I'm patient and I'll be happy when all of that gets here but it still sucks. Months to wait for basic stuff that's been in every one of their games for years. It's baffling.

Really hoping they fixed the putting glitch where the ball scoots over the hole… that has hurt me on numerous occasions.

Thankful for the shuffling fix… the golfer getting caught in that animation was annoying.

I know this is a little thing, but it's nice to see they are focused on the small details, too:

Global: Update a number of courses to use course-specific or tournament-specific tee markers depending on the context for the round.

I did notice in the ApexHound video of his first playthrough at LACC that the course had specific tee boxes - the pennant flags that are in the course's logo. Was nice to see.

If we have already started a career do we have to wait until year 3 to play the US Open at LACC similar to Oak Hill and the PGA?

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour U.S. Open Update Patch Notes

Definitely looks like a more minor update compared to last month, personally I’m not too bothered and appreciate all the fixes however minor (the Pebble Beach seagulls one made me laugh), but it’s for sure an update that will disappoint people. Good to see actual mention of turn based online being worked on, they had mentioned adding online modes near launch but not what specific ones.

A few of the fixes that I noticed seem good but we don’t know how much they truly affect things. In Career Mode they say AI golfers will not miss short putts as badly anymore and in gameplay physics they say the ball will roll better up hills. Both are good minor fixes although I think more major changes are needed to both areas, but they have maybe prioritized getting quick fixes out. Tournament-specific tee markers that we saw mysteriously removed between trailers and launch may be back in, and they mentioned the shot address camera will not always be centered directly above the golfer in some situations i.e. the ball near a structure. Hopefully those fixes turn out as good as they sound.

                      Soccer: Southampton and Atlanta United

I would assume so...this was the only mention of LACC in career mode:

In career mode, the U.S. Open Championship now alternates every season between The Los Angeles Country Club and The Country Club.

I noticed this too but shouldn’t the tee markers been us open/usga ones since he was playing with crowds/tournament atmosphere on? If he was playing with crowds off it would’ve made sense for the markers to be the LACC ones

Not sure...there were US Open logos on the stands and structures. But then the scorebug didn't have the US Open logo - it just had the pennant logo of the course. Since it was just a Quick Play round, maybe they don't do the total US Open branding?

My score now comes up as "E" no matter what I shot. It shows me atop the leaderboard at "E" when I'm actually at -10. And no, this isn't the Tour Championship. In fact, one screen showed the entire leaderboard at "E." This needs fixed pronto.
