The way I see it, if you prefer single player or just a round we have nearly a full pga tour schedule between the two games. If your a golf fan and money’s isn’t an issue..get both. I currently have 75 hours in 2k23 and about 50 in ea.

I wish the development team would just go back and play Tiger Woods 13 and implement how rough impacted shots in that game. There were varying lie conditions and you could try to hold your right stick in a certain position on the ball while still swinging with your left. For me, that was a really good way to implement varying lies and varying abilities to pick the ball out of the roughNCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
They had Analog Fade, which I always played, where the strike meter would disappear after about 2 seconds. Never sure if I was in the right position when I was hitting my shot. Most of the time, it was just easier to take the penalty and hack it out to a safe place.Comment

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
I play on full Sim on that game so I utilized it too. It's a good feature and for me it made it a good bit harder to get the strike meter in the right place, but I still wish I would have to play for my lie and stance along with trying to get it in the center of the ball. Maybe hitting it close to the center can take off some of the lie and stance effects but only some. Imagine the difficulty and fun in that!NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
To me, 2K always lacks in the immersion side of things. While I do like the gameplay enough, I am pretty much stuck playing local rounds and ranked matchmaking, as career mode is so dull and repetitive, and I am not good enough to compete in societies like TGCTours, playing courses on settings that are sometimes a bit tricked up in the name of difficulty, yet people still shoot -55 in events somehow.
The fake majors 2K uses in career mode, even though we can now drop Pinehurst, Pebble, or Torrey Pines into the faux U.S. Open, still lack any kind of gravitas that the biggest events of the year should have. There's only one Scottish links style course in the 2K curated list, so you're stuck playing the same course for the fake Open Championship every year if you want it to mimic some kind of reality. And the fake PGA Championship is locked at TPC Boston, for some reason.
Not to mention most of the official real-life courses in the game stink in terms of greens, and are basically unplayable due to ridiculous pin locations.
I also don't care for the fact that 2K is starting to really attach most of the new items/events to the "Smerf" app or whatever it's called. I really don't want to download a 3rd party app for my phone that will give me access to other content in the game, while sharing my personal info once again with whoever operates that app. IDK, just feels odd and something that's unnecessary. I am glad it's an optional thing.
As a last-gen holdover, I am fine with 2K23 being the most recent golf game I can play. But I really hope EA pushes 2K/HB to get a bit more creative and innovative in future versions of their game, because 2K23 still has its share of warts and areas of focus it needs to address.Comment

I play both regularly and I don’t know that I would say one is better than the other. Both have strengths and both have shortcomings. Each game provides me with an experience that the other cannot.
I enjoy both for what they offer.

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
If you just want to play a round of golf and after a period of time that's really all you'll want to do then 2k is hands down the better golf game. At least half dozen new courses dropped in the past few days that are worthy of a play or three.Comment

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
I'd say I play PGA 2K23 80% of the time an EA Sports PGA 20%. I don't feel like the swing is being governed nearly as heavily in 2K23 as it is in EA Sports PGA Tour. I can see and feel the cause and effect better in 2K23 as a result. The putting game and the camera options are also better in 2K23. Graphically, EA Sports PGA Tour is a clear winner. It also has a better career mode.
I just find myself very disappointed in this current EA Sports PGA Tour game after having high expectations for it. The recent 60 FPS performance option update brought it out of hibernation for me, but it still feels overly restricted by the unrealistically low swing speed animation. I'd also like to see some playable multiplayer options presented to it.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
It's great what they are done with EA presentation, but i actually prefer 2k presentation most of time. I am here to play golf not watching broadcast, just like on real golf. I think 2k balance is better on that aspect, but it could be still a higher quality than what it is now.
Both games are good and gameplay wise 2k is even great, but as a games they both are still lacking behind TW 10 and TW 13.Comment

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
To me, 2K is easily the better game. The graphics in EA are better for sure, but the smoothness (2K has a 60 FPS mode that is butter) and the gameplay are MILES ahead of EA's offering.
If you are looking for a deep, sim experience, 2K is the choice.Comment

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
A deep sim experience where you only have one shot type to hit around the greens, good joke. You can’t hit a 4 iron from 250 yards and stop it on a dime in real life either. If you want to argue that you like the gameplay more okay, but saying 2K is a deep sim experience compared to EA is just absurd.Comment

Number one you ain't hitting a 4 iron 250 yards in this game unless it is severely downhill or downwind. In either case the ball is not stopping on a dime. How many shots do you think a pro hits around the green besides a chip or in extreme cases some kind of flop? I have no clue what you are trying to say in your post.Comment

If you have no clue what I’m saying then why respond? You say you can’t hit a 4 iron 250 and then tell me the scenarios you can. I’m sorry I said it stopped on a dime, it rolls out 5 yards if you hit the right trajectory. And the fact that you think the only two shots hit around a green in real golf are a chip and flop is a joke. You clearly don’t watch much real golf which is obvious if you agree 2K is a deep sim, lol. Not arguing which game is better, not saying 2K isn’t a fun game. But it’s not a deep sim and not really even that close for me. Show me in real golf where a guy chips in from off the green on every other hole. Again it’s not a bad game, I enjoyed it for awhile, especially the online play. But it’s not a sim golf game at all, doesn’t mean it doesn’t play a fun round of golf.Last edited by tc020791; 07-07-2023, 10:21 AM.Comment

Re: EA Sports Vs. 2K: Which PGA Tour Game Is Better?
They're both good games, but that's because they're both trying to emulate a very different product.
2K is a sim, through and through. Turn the difficulty up to master and you could easily shoot 100+ on any given day. It's trying to emulate REAL golf. Wanna fly through a round and not pay attention to what you're doing? Don't be surprised when you shank a tee shot 50 yards and don't even make the women's tees. This translates far better in PvP situations, as it comes down to strickly stick skills, and the difference between a "2K" scratch golfer and a "2K" High handicap is night and day.
EA, on the other hand, is emulating PROFESSIONAL golf. It's designed to be an easier pick up and play, because that's the core audience EA caters to. There's a reason the game caps you at Triple bogey... How many professional golfers on any given week do you see shooting over a triple bogey? Yes, it happens, but not to the same extant you see on a municipal course and certainly not on every hole. This game is certainly a bigger learning curve then, say, TW14, but it's still "Casual" golf in the sense that EA never made this game with the intention of people shooting high scores. The game was designed to make you feel like a PGA Tour professional, which in my opinion it does just fine.
Now, as far as the modes each game offers, that comes down to personal preference. Personally, EA has been my go-to game for career mode (Career mode on 2K is a joke, IMO. I can get the same level of excitement playing single rounds at courses I want to play) while 2K is still the best for online play. The level of control 2K gives you over your shot and the execution having to be so precise makes for a far more compelling online gameplay. In EA, you'll find that most people put their shots all within 20 feet of eachother. Again, great for emulating professional golfers and their ability to dart any shot, but not so compelling for an online match. The lack of turn order doesn't help, as it just feels like a single player round with balls flying in from every angleComment
