Mine too Buck! I don't think programmed randomness is needed if the swing interface is scaled properly. There's enough acuity in these controller inputs to yield a believable correlation of swing inputs to shot results.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: New PGA 2K game coming Q4 2025
I think it all comes down to whether or not they are still supporting last-gen consoles, which I am assuming they will be, as all 2K24 titles came out for them.
If they are supporting last-gen, then graphics will probably still be similar. I'd be OK even if they just updated the lighting...it's truly bad in certain situations, where trees and such look like they are radioactive.
I know Unity has been updated over the years, so maybe they'll include some of the improvements to that engine to get more out of it.Comment

Re: New PGA 2K game coming Q4 2025
Of course it has dampened the power of these generation consoles, but it's all about the money. And if it's not making enough money, well we're seeing what EA is doing with their golf game only available with this generation consoles. And the same will happen in 3 years or so, games won't be made for PS4 anymore, but we won't see the full power of a PS6 as they will still be making them for this gen consoles.Comment

EA could have released their golf game for PS3, PS4 and PS5 generations simultaneously and it wouldn't have mattered
They seem to be totally done with worrying about any genres that are not MEGA SELLERS
Golf is super niche in the eyes of an EA
I don't think we'll ever see another EA golf game unless a lot of things changeComment

Re: New PGA 2K game coming Q4 2025
I doubt any talk between the PGA and LIV has anything to do, I believe there will be a big change. Getting rid of rivals in career mode is long overdue. Bringing some kind of challenges between pros and users like EA is doing would spice up the game a bit. The way it has been going with HB, it feels they're selling the same game over and over again. Of course, a new game engine would change everything, but I don't believe it's in the card with the next game.Comment

I also wonder if 2Ks delay is about buying the rights to the majors from EA. EA clearly has zero interest in supporting their game or making a new one. That would be a game changerhttp://pcfriars1213.blogspot.com/ - Coaching Career of Ed Cooley College Hoops 2k8Comment

I'm hopeful for adding the majors and a deeper focus on the career mode.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Give me 2K with a better career mode including the majors and I would gladly buy it and pay for whatever package includes early access.Comment

Agreed and I would love the ability to play the Ryder Cup in career mode and make it a feature where you can create a Ryder Cup for yourself or with friends online.Comment

Yeah it would be incredible seeing the majors and Ryder Cup. President's Cup would be cool too. I know EA has the exclusive rights to the majors but I don't know about the Cups. Could be an opportunity there.NBA: Chicago Bulls
NFL: Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons
MLB: Chicago White Sox (pray for me)
College: Northwestern, UIC, Notre Dame, Alabama, College of DuPage
Football (Soccer): Chicago Fire and LiverpoolComment

Re: New PGA 2K game coming Q4 2025
Since EA did have Ryder Cup content, and the Ryder Cup is largely operated by the PGA of America (who also runs the PGA Championship), that one might be a more difficult get.
I think it all comes down to this: is EA still going to hold onto the rights for majors and the Ryder Cup for potential use later, or are they completely done with golf and dropping the rights? If it's the latter, then 2K should pounce on the opportunity.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 11-20-2024, 03:10 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: New PGA 2K game coming Q4 2025
Excited for the new game, but what I would like to see 2K do more of is customization or access to the PGA Pros. As a weekend warrior golfer, I have zero interest playing as my own character. I prefer to play as PGA pro while only competing against PGA pros. Currently 2K does not allow a quick round/play now mode against the pros.
However, my biggest hope regarding the aesthetics (in addition to enhanced graphics) is the ability to have an actual name attached to golfer instead of the gamertag id. So if I'm playing a round as Tiger Woods, see Tiger Woods listed, instead of seeing "PictureFrame234" listed.Comment

Re: New PGA 2K game coming Q4 2025
Hello all, it's been awhile! My wife's stroke recovery is going very well. She is already working on walking with a cane now, almost 1 year to the day after her massive stroke on Christmas Eve last year. Miraculous!
My take on the new 2K game remains the same--if it's not on a new engine, I'm not interested. But if there is some sort of "upgrade" to the Unity engine, combined with this very important tweak for me, I will at least take a look at it:
They *must* add a way to control the speed of the swing. It's just ridiculously whipsaw fast to me after playing so much EA. EA needed the same feature, where you could speed their swing up a bit, and I don't see how it would be that hard to create a macro tweak for the swing of either game (even though EA is dead it seems), to just speed up or slow down the *entire* speed and tempo of the swing animation.
It's not anything to do with changing how the swing interacts with the controller, or how it strikes the ball, the outcome, none of that. Just a simple slider setting that lets you slow down the full animation of the swing.
Is that harder to do than I'm picturing?Comment
