People keep talking about diagonal swing with this game, but for me it is the same up and down swing it has always been?

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions
Ahhhhh, I remember why I stopped playing 2k23...
I do appreciate 2k for offering this demo, more studios need to do this, but while this is a great PR move, it just saved me $99 (plus tax)...
Played the demo for 19 minutes, that was all I needed to go back to EA PGA Tour while it lasts when I get in the mood to play a golf game... Just have never been a fan of TGC or 2k golf games, and this one is no exception to me.... It is what it is, I am sure others will love it. For those that do, ENJOY!!! Not going to bad mouth what I hated, enough people will find it, feel it, or see it in due time...
***EDIT*** I want to like this game, but I can't... The fun factor is not there for me, nor was it there in 2k23... I had 11 hours of gameplay of 2k23 and over 500 hours on EA PGA Tour... The same things I hated in 2k23 are still there in 2k25 in the demo, so I would expect it to be no different at full release... It is deeper in ways in terms of customization, I will give it that... But it is going to be stale and repetitive round after round with what appears little variation...
I would be curious for you to expand on this. I've got 3k hours (!!!) on EA PGA. I had similar time on 2k21 and 2k23.
I am downloading the demo now, because I'm hoping it will be so much better than before. But just reading your post, I think I know exactly what you're talking about, why you've stuck with EA like I have despite its many, many faults and shortcomings.
I have a feeling here in about an hour I'm going to be exactly where you are after about 15 minutes of playing the demo, for the same reasons you haven't yet elaborated on.
I hope not. I want this to be great and successful.
EDIT:
Thank goodness I don't actually have 3k hours on one game lol. I have over 3k total hours on my PS5. More than 50% of that EA PGA, 30% on The Show 23 and 24, and the rest on PGA 2k23 before the EA game came out.
But again, I have a distinct feeling I'm going to have the same experience as you just did here shortly with this demo.Last edited by golfnut67; 02-04-2025, 08:27 PM.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions
The demo defaulted me at Perfect Swing where every swing is up and down, that might be it for you. Or your "Swing Bias Input Offset" is set to Off.NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers
NFL: Atlanta Falcons
NBA: Atlanta Hawks
MLB: Atlanta Braves
Soccer: Southampton and Atlanta United

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions
One thing I've noticed from the videos I've seen online is that the pros don't seem to have their individual swings modeled. Which isn't a surprise, but it does take you out of the game a bit when all of their swings look more-or-less the same.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions
I bumped it up to pro when I realized all my swings were perfect, but it was still an up an down swing motion. Will have to look into this bias stuff next time I boot up the demo.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions
I like the difficulty added with the new swing mechanic.
Graphically...overall it's a mixed bag. Player models still look like mannequins, but the lighting and colors are improved. Still doesn't feel like a fully current gen game, but better than 2k23.Comment

Noticed game displays your gamertag vs the name you enter in.
Hopefully this isn’t the case during career mode.

I am not saying EA did everything right, but they did what needed to be right for me to find enjoyment from their game and so far, in the 18 minutes I played the demo of 2k23, there are a few things that I just can't get past even with just a small sample size of the back 9 in Scottsdale and a couple of things cannot be changed with settings, it is just the game itself and what I saw, felt or heard.
I wanted to like this game. I had HIGH hopes with some of EA's people jumping ship to 2k, but as soon as the gameplay started, it was all downhill for me and kept getting worse with every minute that went. I only finished the 9 holes because my wife wanted to screen cast something from Twitter, and I didn't want to see it... I will PM you my thoughts.Last edited by gsize19; 02-04-2025, 09:44 PM.If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions
So I’ve run into an issue when pulling back the right stick where my player hesitates to bring the club all of the way back… (think quarter/half swing and then it starts with the golfer addressing his ball again) it seems completely random as to when he’ll actually take a full swing. Has anyone else run into this?
I’m using the Dualsense Edge if that makes any difference…Comment

Apparently there was another code for FootJoy shoes, Greyson joggers, and a Nike polo: FULLSWING
Finally getting into the demo - have only played 27 holes (first 9 on Perfect Swing for funzies, next 18 on Pro).
The sound the putter makes at contact is horrible. Sounds like it's broken or something.
The diagonal swing is gonna take some getting used to. Short game is quite tough.
Graphics are better than 2K23, but not by much. Might just be because it's TPC Scottsdale and isn't all that spectacular to look at...ApexHound's 9 holes at Pebble looked much better.
Getting a lot of hiccups and stuttering framerates at times, especially when using scout cam to zoom in to the landing zones. I'm on PS5.
Glad that drops and lateral hazards seem to be fixed. Way overdue, but very welcome.
Same with moving the ball in the tee box...another nice update that probably should have been in a while back.
Physics with terrain seem better, too. Balls don't run like crazy on the greens, even on more pronounced slopes.
I also noticed you can check out the Pros stats in the "Choose Golfer" menu, even though you can't play as them in the demo. Here are the Pros' OVRs:
Tiger Woods - 99
Tony Finau - 91
Matt Fitzpatrick - 85
Brooke Henderson - 89
Max Homa - 83
Tom Kim - 82
Lydia Ko - 92
Collin Morikawa - 94
Justin Thomas - 88
Will Zalatoris - 86
Rose Zhang - 84
Anyway, some positives and some question marks here in my first few plays of this demo.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 02-05-2025, 01:37 AM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions
Was really enjoying the challenge of Bias on master difficulty with entry level CAG but had a go with Tiger & it’s so easy to hit straight even if plane is off, that’s no fun cause everyone gonna level up quick.
Why is it you can’t have a challenging game, always has to be made easier with money.Comment
