Is it placebo or is this actually a thing? If anyone else can feed back on what you think let me know please. Need more testing to confirm but it’s a groundbreaking mechanic if 3:1 ratio is set throughout.
The rhythm, on every shot, is a 3:1 ratio.

To sum up an EvoSwing shot, using Swing Stick:

    - Pull the swing stick downward to move the swing cursor toward the Backswing Target, matching the speed of the power indicator
    - When the swing cursor—and hopefully the power indicator—reaches the Backswing Target, push the swing stick up towards the Downswing Target at 3x the speed of your backswing

I noticed in the demo that there is no swing calibration, so I assume that means that it's not needed anymore - now timing is all based on your own swing rhythm on each shot.

If I want to backswing super slow as long as I triple speed on downswing I’m good then?

That's my understanding, and I feel that matches my experience, too.

When putting, I've been off on timing both fast and slow. That led to putts flying past the hole some coming up feet short. Each time that happened, it was because I didn't hit that 3:1 ratio.

With all the posts and awesome notes from MAB (thanks man!), figured this will get buried real quick.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? When I first tried the replay, before letting it replay, I selected custom to see what that was about. Which now I see. Except I cannot get to the original replay options anymore.

I've only had replays triggered a couple of times, for me it's always done the original replay and given me the option to do custom replay. Even when I chose custom replay to see what it was about, the next time an automatic replay triggered it was the original replay. When I've tried to access replays from the pause menu, it's gone straight to the custom replay.

By the way, idk how 2K23's replay system functioned but in custom replay I was able to scroll through the entire course and a good amount of the surrounding land and buildings that are rendered. Pretty nuts.

I haven't messed with the replay system in the demo too much yet, but I am so glad we actually have a custom replay system in 2K now. It used to just be that you had to watch the replay they gave you, with little to no control over how you watched it. Being able to fly around the course was only something PC players could do prior to this, so I'm excited for it.

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions

I spent some time in the training facility to test out the swing, here is what I tested and found out (right-handed golfer):

I noted that the speed you bring back your swing stick does impact the speed of the player's backswing. On tee shots I recorded a ~0.6 sec backswing bringing the stick back as fast as I could, and as much as a ~0.9 sec backswing bringing it back as slow as I tried (you can probably go slower). It's not a massive difference, but it is there.

One big detail I noticed was that the speed of the backswing to the transition point was about the same no matter what distance I was aiming at. If I aimed at 100% on a tee shot, 0.6 sec backswing. If I aimed 80%, 0.6 sec backswing. This seemed to apply to all non-putting shot types I tested, which was every basic one except punches. It seems much closer to EA's swing that I had originally thought, which personally I don't like for tee shots and approaches because I think it makes partial shots too easy to execute. I like it more for short game shots, although I still think there should be some small speed modifier based on distance aimed.

You can overswing a partial shot as much as possible, i.e. aiming 80% and overswinging to 100% power.

While the speed of the backswing seems to be the same based on distance aimed, it does seem to be slightly different based on the shot type. Out of the shot types I tested, here were the approximate backswing speeds I measured (I was moving the stick immediately fully back):
                  • Tee shot - 0.6 sec
                  • Approach - 0.65 sec
                  • Pitch - 0.7-0.75 sec
                  • Flop - 0.6 sec
                  • Chip - 0.8 sec
                  • Splash - 0.6 sec

Putting on the other hand does have a different backswing speed based on distance aimed, it's not 1:1 but it was noticeable - on the practice greens, 99 ft putter, I measured a ~0.73 sec backswing at 57% power and a ~2.1 sec backswing at 100% power.

I tested putting with the shot feedback meter off and aiming random distances between 50 and 100% and was able to nail or get pretty close to the desired power almost every time, so I think there is some feel there to the putting.

When testing tee shots, I did notice some slight differences in the club and impact sounds based on the result of my shot. I think there are different sounds based on perfect contact vs slightly off but still in the forgiveness zones. When hooking or slicing a shot (contact outside the forgiveness zone where the top of the meter turns red), the ball impact sounds seemed to be the same to me (might be wrong on this) but the club "woosh" sound seemed to be at a different pitch - higher pitch when slicing, lower pitch when hooking. I also noticed different impact sounds when slightly missing the forgiveness zone vs being way off of the forgiveness zone.

Anyone know how to switch the swing to left stick? I started up the demo yesterday and played 9 holes with the left stick, today when I fire up the game the swing stick is with the right stick?

                      Things I noted:

                      - New shot types will be in the Clubhouse Passes, but the basic type will be in the free tier. However, some boosts associated with the shot types will be in the paid tier.
                      - Legendary clubs will be in the Clubhouse Passes...these clubs will not have their fittings deleted when you "Evo" them, which will happen when you Evo regular clubs. The legendary clubs are in the paid tier.
                      - Clubhouse Passes are 100 levels.
                      - Ranked Tours have daily and weekly tournaments, and its own progression system.
                      - Pros are only playable in local matches again.
                      - Rivals in MyCareer are only shown in the canned "highlights", which do seem better than in previous games.
                      - Highest tier of club level (Sapphire) adds +6 at each level, and there are a max of 5 "boost" fitting levels on them. Theoretically, you could have a golfer with a base power attribute of 69, add 5 power fittings (+30) to your driver, and get power up to 99.
                      - The "+6" tier is the max at this point, but the devs mentioned they could increase that in future seasons in the game.
                      - Respawn's main concern is the leveling up/progression system.
                      - The devs said it would take 60-100 hours for the "average" player to reach 99 OVR.
                      - Store includes more bundle items, but was pretty limited with what they showed.
                      - Consumable balls no longer effect roll.
                      - "2K-partnered pros" will have their swings mo-capped...other pros are animated based on their swings.
                      - Topgolf is the same, and there are no plans to add anything new to it.
                      - No ranked divot derby. That is also the same.
                      - MyCareer "followers" system has no real impact...you just get rewards as you meet milestone follower numbers.
                      - Personality system in MyCareer seems to only impact how fast you increase your follower count - keep the same personality, and you'll increase your follower count faster.
                      - MyCareer event leaderboards looked really good, and Dynamic Rounds allow you to play all 18 holes over four rounds.
                      - You cannot change the way your golf bag looks, and there are no headcovers.
Thanks for documenting all of this MAB. It's a lot to chew on, but I'm sure we'll spend the next two years breaking it all down.

Thanks esham, I would love to be able to do an A/B comparison on the PS5 and PS5 Pro on this demo in Quality mode, just to see how much of a difference the Pro could make in thiscase. I played three holes with my Series X in Quality mode, and the FSR set to 0%, and it was still pretty obviously dipping below 30 FPS fairly often. I could play the game if I had to in that mode, but it sort of feels like I'm swinging the club underwater.

It made me appreciate the feel of the stick swing when I set it back to "Performance", and I am now at 50% on the FSR sharpening. I can't really say that I see or really "feel" that much of a difference between 50 and 70%, but every now and then I'll see to stuttering in the camera trying to follow the ball on the Dynamic cut cameras. It doesn't affect the gameplay, but if I can eliminate more stuttering in the cut views by dropping that 20%, I don't think it's going to hurt the looks.

Did you keep the FSR at 70% in Quality mode? Also, can you feel the difference when you go from Quality to Performance, even though you're satisfied with Quality? I know several players who aren't bothered by 30 FPS... I wish I was one of them. The Series X shows its shortcomings at times with this demo in Quality mode. There's an annoying rumble that I get on my backswing that's proportional to the occasional stuttering I get during the swing. I know you get a rumble when you get outside of swing path boundaries, but this is different. I'm inside the zone on the swing path, but I'm getting a shorter cycles rumble with the stuttering... or at least it seems that way.

It's funny as I always read reviews and people saying the game is too easy already or they can nail every shot and whatever and I was thinking to myself, "you must just be terrible"

So i watched some rounds of really good golfers and I was watching their swings and everything and I noticed that many of them never wavered from a straight line going back and through the swing and I was blown away. I always get like a little S pattern when I go from backswing to swing and I couldn't believe how consistent I was.

So I played a round on Pro and shot 48. Next round I played I shot a 42 then a 39. I played great on the 39 and couldn't see how I could get to the 30's that others were getting to. I am almost 50 so I just figured this is where I am at now.

Anyway, I was reading more and started thinking that everyone was talking about the "swing stick" so I thought to myself, why not plug in my controller and take a crack at it. You see, I normally use Mouse and Keyboard. Anyway, shot 32 the first round on Pro with the gamepad.

Now it makes sense how people can shoot so low using the skill sticks. There isn't nearly as much margin for error with the skill stick as there is with a mouse. So, if you want to add challenge to the game simply switch to mouse and keyboard and see how that goes. The only wat I get straight back and through is if I run my mouse along the edge of the keyboard.
