I like a post because I respect others opinions.
(Even if they have a real s### attitude)
I play any game with ‘Golf’ in the title & regarding EA’s game no it doesn’t look better consistently & certainly doesn’t play as well.
The 2K25 game has the best gameplay we’ve seen in a decade plus of video game golf but early adopters are supporting a mechanic neutering membership pass that’s gonna turn it into Mario golf. I just can’t support that with or without very questionable current generation fidelity.

Now once again drop the attitude it’s just a discussion.

I stink at the short game. I just can't get a feel or range in order to hit good, or at least half way decent shots. Either too short or too long.

Got a week to get it figured out before I start my career
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It seems like they have fixed this which is good news - used my Dual Sense Edge last night and didn’t have any quarter/half/3-quarter swings that reset.

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions

I'm trying to decide which version of 2K25 I need to buy. I have an XBox Series X and a 2017 vintage gaming PC I built, consisting of an i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, GeForce GTX 1070 (4 GB), and 16 GB DDR3 RAM. In 2K23, I could run the game at 1440p res on my PC, and get a pretty solid 60 FPS. With the 2K25 demo, I'm having to run the game at 1080p to maintain a reasonably consistent 60 FPS.

The XBox version of the demo actually feels more solid, and even looks better in Performance settings, with the FSR set at 70%, than the PC version. Where I have the most concern for how this affects the game is in the putting, and particularly, the chipping phases of the game. The PC version, even at 1080p with average quality settings, doesn't consistently give me the fluid feedback needed to modulate the the respective stroke with the fidelity needed. The XBox version does a better job in these areas, but it still leaves me craving for more.

It's probably time to admit that I need to upgrade to a more modern gaming computer, and at least go with a RTX 3070 based system so I can play it at 2160p/60 FPS+, but it would be hard to justify a $2,000 + payout for a system built with just this game in mind.

I wish 2K had seen fit to include an option to turn the vsync off in the console versions of the game. I would love to see how it would perform with a VRR capable display and the vsync off. I think that would be my best option if they would just add that feature. The PC version is loaded with graphics settings tweaks the user can use, while the console versions offer two: "Quality" or "Performance", and FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). I will be spending the entirety of my PGA TOUR 2K25 playing life, campaigning for and vsync and Depth of Field (DOF) option in the console versions.

And to think... we actually had a Depth of Field option in one of the earlier "Golf Club" iterations... it may have been the first one?

            Interesting reading your post JC

I've gone the other direction as I've aged and finally punted on PC gaming

I just got tired of fiddling with settings and tweaks ... instead of just "playing games"

Picked up an XBSX for $280 lightly preowned and have been enjoying it immensely -- especially how quickly you can jump back in to things

Obviously not nearly the power of what one can buy in PC space, but I'm overall happy with the simplicity of it

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Demo Available Today, Post Your Impressions

I read through the impressions initially when the demo came out and thought my experience would be lukewarm, at best.

I guess that is why it's useful to try a demo, if one is provided. Right off the bat, I noticed the graphics, at least with my personal eye test, were much cleaner, crisp and brighter than 23. I'm not that much enamored with graphics, I'd much rather have better gameplay and I know there could be both. 20 yrs ago, (yes, I know we've reached higher standards with technology), but I played more HH Baseball than the competition, with burned out faces and more because it played a realistic game, in my opinion.

Maybe one day 2k will realize the graphics of their players and trap areas need overall improvement and let's hope sooner rather than later.

Player models look almost acceptable in the menus but as soon as you get on the course the downgrade is obvious. You can also drop into custom replay & get some good looking screens but again it doesn’t translate into gameplay.

I'm kinda in the same boat, I have a 1080ti in a new pc cause I'm to cheap to pay big bucks for a new card if you can even find one. I went with the Legend xbx version, plays nice and smooth plus I prefer to sit in my lazyboy, lol.

Bunkers look better At Torrey Pines, looks like the rough covers that lip edge & rolls down in the trap a short way. Definitely a better look than some of the other tracks.

I don't understand the short game at all. I puttered around in the practice area doing some short game stuff, and it just doesn't make sense to me at all. Any aspect of a golf video game where I'm actually better in real life than I am at a video game tells me the video game isn't doing something quite right, because I suck at golf IRL.

It seems to me that the short game - and in particular bunker shots and chips - is much too dependent on hitting the 'power circle' exactly right, otherwise you blow it over the green or the ball goes 3 feet in front of you. Which would be completely fine, but the sensitivity of the meter and the ability to fine-tune your controller thumbsticks to the degree required makes hitting the right power consistently much harder than any other shot in the game. Throw in the need for off-angle back-and-forth movements, and it gets really hard really fast (I am playing on the 2nd highest difficulty for what it's worth).

Which seems unintuitive to me, because if anything, the faster swing speed shots should be more sensitive to misses (my opinion being based on the idea that misses are magnified at speed) and the slower swing speed shots - like a chip - should either have the meter fill more slowly or else have higher tolerances. But the need to move the stick back-and-forth at basically the same speed as a driver makes the short game unusually difficult to get a feel for.

Yeah, I'm with you guys. I don't want to futz around with settings and optimization any more. I just want to sit on my lazy behind, turn the thing on, and it just works auto-magically. I don't have any patience as I get older.

I preordered the Legend Edition. I suffered a knee injury at work and I’m going to be laid up for the time being, so I needed something to keep me from going insane.

I cannot get the demo to activate. No matter what I do, the game is wanting me to link steam to my 2k accounts, which is fine since I am already running NBA 2k25 from steam and it is working fine. When I enter my password to sign on (which I know is good) it says it is wrong. I try resetting my password and it says it is sending me a link via email to reset it but it never arrives. I tried this last week, over the weekend and again today and get the same results. Googled it and found a few dozen others having the same exact issues but when they contacted 2k support they got no response. I'd really like to try this before I invest in the full game. Heck...not I am concerned that the full game will have a similar problem. How can NBA 2k25 be working fine with my known account and password but PGA is denying it? Weird and makes me wanna stick with my EA gold game for now. Any thoughts?

Does someone want to tell HB that tournament golf courses don't lay out all the tee markers for all tees during tournament weeks? This is obviously small potatoes, but it continues to irritate me after all this time and this many games, that even in official tournaments that have specialized tee markers (e.g. the little dump trucks at the Waste Management Open), they put tee markers on every tee. That's not what happens - there are 1 set of tee markers, at the designated tee for that day. They don't put little dump trucks on the men's tee, women's tee, senior tee, etc.

                              Anyways..../end rant.
