They already did a pretty intense nerf of the spinner, the same time they made flops and picks easier. They also removed the ability to use the Thai Spinner on the green in the same shadow update.

I think the skill shot types are all over the place in terms of usefulness and functionality. Does anyone even use the "Lag Putt" or the "Runner"?

I don't think they need to completely blow up these shots...just need to tweak them some so that they get penalized more on mis-hits. I shouldn't have a 10 degree open flop from 10 yards away just be like 3-5 feet offline.

I think most of the shot types are well-balanced and have a place, ~18-20 of the 26 base ones imo. The Choked Punch and Lag Putt feel tacked on for sure, the Knock Down feels unimportant because you can simulate it with easy partials on longer clubs, and the Flop Super Flop and Pick are too easy. I think the Runner and Bump n Run could have their place situationally tho I haven’t tested them yet, but they’ll always be overlapped to some extent by the pitch and chip because it’s easier to judge roll with them. And they’re kinda invisible shots rn because you have to go out of your way to an iron to select them.

Honestly if tweaks is really all they need to make almost all the shot types well-balanced, I think that means we’re in a pretty good spot.

And sorry to keep harping on MyCareer, but scoring has other issues aside from score dispersion.

I just battled with Xander Schauffele (who else?) at the Fake Masters, and I put up four of my best rounds in the game. I finished in second and was 4 shots clear of other AI golfers on the leaderboard; I was at -18, next closest was -14...but Xander couldn't be stopped and shot -25 for the event, winning by 7...

So on top of the scores being super spread out, it definitely seems there is some rubberbanding or AI scoring that relates to how you specifically play. I shot a -9 in round 3, and then Xander went ahead and shot -7 in round 4. No other AI golfer in round 4 shot better than -2...

From my experience I’m not sure if it’s rubber banding or just broken scoring for one of the players. When I saw Xander shoot -9 every round at the Players, I hovered around even par the entire event and was never even close to him. I’ve only been way out in front on one event, the one at Marigot Cove, I was like 4-6 shots ahead in the middle of the 2nd round and no CPU player ever went off to get close to me (instead I bogeyed a bunch of holes to fall back to the pack lol). It could really go either way or be a little of both, either way just please fix it.

So not sure if this has happened to anyone else today but going to post as a heads up. I went into the game today and saw that Daily and Weekly quests had been nerfed further to 15 and 50 VC each... the Tom Kim and Players quest went up from 50 to 300 VC as well. I went through all the quests and game to see if anything else VC-related had changed and didn't see anything (I did get a fitting reward from Ranked Tour daily tournaments which was new for me). Was feeling disappointed because 15 and 50 VC for dailies and weeklies would make them completely not worth it for me anymore (also after all the backlash they'd only nerf VC further???).

Then I played a round and completed a daily quest during it, and got the normal 50 VC? So I go back to the quests screen and the quests were all back to what they were before (50/150 for daily/weekly and 50 for Tom Kim). Not sure if that was a glitch or unintended change or a change they did too early, but false alarm I hope?

Edit: I recreated it, I'm pretty sure it's a glitch that can happen when you go offline and reconnect online.

Is it me or is ranked easy?? Like there’s no talent discrepancies anymore. 400 level golfers play like condors. It’s literally who can hit approach shots within 5ft the most.

What is with OP Schauffele? At the Canadian Open, no player finished below par except for him, who finished four strokes ahead (-12) of me (-8). You'd think if there was an OP player, it would be Tiger, or one of the golfers in the game. I understood Justin Thomas being OP in 2K21 since he was on the cover, but I don't get why Schauffele is so much better than anyone else.

It's Pro and Pro, when compared to Master, is a lot easier. Decided to quit playing Ranked until the Flop is dealt with. Got players who are good otherwise-- better than I am at least-- flopping from the fringe.

I lost to a couple of 500 players and beat a few 300. Was like, 15-11.

Of all those games, I had one player quit early. With the ability to now concede a hole, it makes a big difference-- from what I experienced-- on whether people quit or not. Some who might have quit before (2K3), now stick around, and some end up winning.

Just now playing it. First impression, a huge improvement over 2k23. Huge. The menus, the depth of setup and options, and especially the look and feel on the course.

Can someone please give me some shortcuts on how to:

-raise or lower the height of the shot


-change the camera view of my opponent when playing online matchmaking--it's always from the caddie view, and the swing mechanics make it look like he's putting every time. Is there a way to watch the opponent from behind like in 2k23

-what button concedes the hole?

I have others, those are the big 3 right now lol. Sorry there's just sooo much to setting up this game and I'm just hoping for a cheat sheet or some tips here on basic stuff related to the above.

Also, just now, 2nd time the game has crashed out to the main PS5 screen. I reported it. Anyone getting this often?

Also, I've seen 2 opponents somehow slow down their back swing a LOT, which would be awesome if there's a way to do that. The back swing is still way too fast for me, it's almost impossible to gauge a touch shot like a chip or even putting because it's soooo fast?

1) changing the trajectory of the shot is done with the shot shaper, just like in previous PGA 2K games...from here:

Start by holding L1 (PlayStation), LB (Xbox), or SHIFT (PC)
Now, use the left analog stick (PlayStation, Xbox) or Mouse Left Click + Move (PC) to shape your shot into a fade, draw, or lofted shot.
Use the right analog stick (PlayStation, Xbox) or Mouse Right Click + Move (PC) to control spin—pull down to increase spin, push forward to decrease spin

2) you can change the camera view when an opponent is hitting by using the directional pad. I believe D-pad down puts you behind the golfer.

3) pressing and holding Y/triangle will concede the hole...but the option won't come up until the game thinks you're in an impossible situation and would want to concede it. You should see a prompt on screen giving you the option to concede if you're struggling on a hole. This is different from conceding putts, which is always on option when you and your opponent are on the green.

Nobody else getting random kick outs to the main PS5 screen? 3 times today. Rebooted everything, all updates in place. Playing the game, not in menus, and just boot out to the main PS5 screen. Game picks up from where the last update/change was, but obviously not to the in-game level. Just curious.


In a 4 ball online matchmaking now. Again, anyone know how some players are very drastically slowing down their back swing? Myself and 2 of the players are just hacking at full back/forward swing, but one player is somehow able to change their swing to where the back swing is *very* slow, they take a couple of practice swings with it, and then the back swing is very slow and the shot is lovely.

Is this possibly someone who has leveled up with VC and it's a swing/attribute that allows them to slow their back swing down?

In fact, every shot this player does, putting, driving, chipping, etc, their back swing is very slow. How are they doing this lol.

Sorry for the blast of questions, just getting into it and again not a lot of time in my situation to figure this stuff out on my own.


BTW, John McCarthy is still my favorite golf voice, EA or 2k. Comforting and friendly lol.

I've only had one crash in my time with the game, but I believe TheApexHound had 2 crashes during ranked matchmaking this past weekend. Might be happening more to some.

The opponent swings during ranked can be a bit funky and buggy at times, I've seen some have a really slow backswing but a crazy fast downswing that I think is just a visual glitch. If you want to slow down your swing the best way is to just not move the stick all the way back to the housing and only partway instead. It might be a bit awkward to do, though.

Most of the problems I've experience, along with most others', are pretty much gone. The menus could be faster; and the constant 2K5 banner, at the least excessive, could be cut out in places to improve transitions.

With online play, opponents' swings have always looked wonky. Sometimes it's fast, very fast, slow, and very slow. I doubt it reflects what the user on the other end sees. It used to be with 2K3 that you could tell a PC player because the swing was super-duper fast. I never played that much ranked to pay attention to the difference.

I did try to disable cross play in 2K5. Although with console users and 2K5 the experience is pretty much similar, I don't think that's the case with PC users, who for sure have some fine-tunning to tinker with that can improve PC play and make the field, I feel, uneven.

With the swing in 2K5, I think you can pretty much go at your own speed, as long the time between backswing and contact is the same. I tend to swing faster. I've tried going slower, and it does work and does feel more relaxing than my typical fast swing, but making the switch to a slower tempo would take some practice. Having to the ability to do both, depending on the feel of the situation, would be the ideal.

Absolutely right. I've been saying this forever--why can't they have a macro level slider or something to speed up or slow down the swing animation?

Trying to "slow down" in this game is very, very hard for me. As soon as you barely touch the stick (PS5 here), the club jerks backward very quickly. I'm liking the game play and spending time with the game in general, but the super fast back swing has always been my biggest hang up with the 2k series. It's just ridiculously fast to me. Super human, faster than Bryson fast.
