Good read, though I'm still on the fence.
I've never watched NASCAR, but hearing EA gripe about hardware limitations already (in regard to whistle blowers in the pits and clean up crews) really pisses me off! Seems like a cop out for lazy developers. I thought hardware is a five year deal (witness what talent like Insomniac put out towards the end). We are only in the second year of the 360 and somehow the hardware can't keep up with EA's prowess? It's one thing if it's a port from PS2, but it's built ground up for 360 and PS3!
If they can make the online work though, I'll likely cave and buy it...since Forza is just too fun. Kind of sad about the Dale Jr. car, but is it only for the Budweiser logos? EA just kills any sort of innovation. His "excuse" for the game not being good was that they could please the arcade crowd and the hardcore crowd. No the game wasn't any good because it wasn't racing. Forza isn't "arcade" and practically everyone here at OS own it. What does that tell you?Comment

It's not laziness-it's decreased budgets for game development.Costs ramped up quite a bit for development on 360/PS3 and EA, as well as other studios, has cut back on staff.It's also why it takes several years for some features to finally make it to the new-gen.PS3/PS4 BradCompanyComment

I was kind of excited about this game because it offered wheel support on the 360. Reading that just made me realize
5) it is a first iteration on next gen consoles so will be feature-less
4) EA sucks at putting together a decent online game
3) entire game will lean way too much toward attracting casual gamers
2) EA sucks the ever lasting life out of gaming with their mass market appeal and will never come close to making a NASCAR game that deserves the exclusive license
1) not buying this game is better for the future of all NASCAR gamesComment

I tend to agree with all points here. I mean if you want Nascar fans to buy the game, then you might want to appeal to well.........those who keep up with Nascar. Nascar is the largest growing sport in the United States so why in the world would you not want the game to play the most realistic as possible? EA still has not learned as their other Nascar games have been way too arcadish and therefore turned off the largest crowd of all and that is Nascar sim players. In the past, EA's arcade Nascar games have not sold well so what should that tell you? EA is also notorious for not making much of an effort on many of their games first coming over to Next Generation Systems and thus here is another prime let down after reading that producer's blog. He seems out of touch with what Nascar fans really want and that is a REAL Nascar game just like in real life! I was going to be the first in line to buy the game but after reading all of the things that will be missing this year, I am now on the fence as well. Papy's NASCAR 2003 was and still is the most realistic racing game out there but they too were not allowed to have Bud on Jr's car although since we were able to paint our cars people had painted up his Bud cars. Right now the next most realistic game would have to be rFactor.Comment
