So they can have "great finishes", even if they don't earn them.

I've had plenty of fantastic finishes in great sims where people don't need the hand-holding. I know this won't be a sim, but a nice PGR-style blend would be nice (probably too much to hope for, but I'll know in a couple hours here).

No, it's not just you. What's the point in having any skill if you know any monkey with half a brain can just use catch up logic and stick with you, then punt you at the end and take a win? Nah...I think I like the sound of this game already.

The difference is that when they had that option is was optional. So people like me who like more arcade type excitement could do so and those who like the realistic sim style can play that way to. There is no hurt in having both options for people.

But of course you keep talking like you know it all

Of course it's an option. But you making a proclamation to the masses saying "WORST VERSION EVER" comes across as even more condescending than anything. You call me a know it all but presume to tell the general public that the version is the worst ever because it doesn't have a hand-holding option to let you catch up by default? So your opinion makes it Gospel, right?

That was my opinion. After playing 05, and 06 and loving them this was a big let down. I just do not se why they took it out. I mean it's just dumb. Some of us like myself have a wife, 2 kids, and run a business so I work 55 to 60 hours a week. I got about 5 to 6 hours a week to game and have a great time. I want to have fun just kick back. I have not time to study a game and learn the ins and outs of every track. It is not like the speed catch up feature was required. You could turn it off or on when playing online. That made the game great for the arcade people and the sim people. For me them not giving us the option makes it the worst nascar ever. Since in that part of the game they took a step back. I mean think of it this way. What if this years game had the speed burst catch up and it was not an option. For people like you who want sim racing you would not touch it online cause you hate that kind of racing. NO reason at all to take that feature out.

I understand your point, oddly enough. I mean, I agree somewhat. I just don't think it warrants the quick "worst version ever" call to arms in a main thread title. Are you sure it's gone completely? Have you hosted a race and made sure that the host just didn't have it toggled off? I know in the past you could turn it on or off...and no, it doesn't make sense to have it there and then take it out, but it does make sense to allow it to be toggled off.

I agree maybe the title of the thread was way to extreme. Sorry just was so looking forward to this game I am a bit let down. Yes I did try it myself several times.

Write EA and demand a 360 version of NASCAR Rumble...that would do the trick...

I'm enjoying the heck out of it, personally. Am I very good? Nope. Will I get better? You betcha, because I WANT to get better at this. Haven't actually ever put in the time in a NASCAR game before, because I COULD just use catch up logic, so racing clean wasn't a big deal. Now it is, and I'm happy about it.
