NASCAR is America's fastest growing sport. Something with so much attention like NASCAR deserves a sim that lets people experience what that type of racing is all about. Lets face it, Papyrus is over and done with. They have been for awhile (unfortunately) but NASCAR 2003 still lives on. That pretty much shows you what a great product they created over 4 years ago. I wish they would come back and develop a "generic" stock car simulation and let the mod community come alive with car sets and track updates. One can only imagine if Papy was still around and how their sim would be after 4 more updates since the last one. It would of been a phenomenal product!
I will give EA some credited on their version this year. They have made some improvements on the physics and added ways to tune the car which was absent from previous titles. However, it is still a far cry from NR2003. The AI can be shoddy at times along with the damage model which allows one bump destroy the entire vehicle. This takes away from the experience of the game. They also took some of the pageantry away which EA was so famous for years ago. I miss the singing of the National Anthem and fly overs before the race, maybe thats cheesy but its something that got me excited before a race. Even a "Drivers, start your engines!" would be nice, like Papy had.
To bad Codemasters can't develop a NASCAR game. They have been pretty good lately with creating great rally and Indy racing simulations for consoles.
I guess Papy if your out there, PLEASE COME BACK!!! Thanks for your time, just had to say my two cents.
