Re: What company should develop a NASCAR Sim?
It's not that EA doesn't have the talent or money it's that they focus on mediocrity. They want a game to cater to the sim crowd while the average Nascar fan who has never played a PC game to also have an equal experience. It never works. You either focus on a sim style experience or an arcade racer. Papyrus knew that. It was there passion and they threw caution to the wind. That's why they continued to build on every future release.
Hell, how many years did it take for many nascar games to even have all the right tracks?Comment

As a matter of fact right from the start when Papyrus did their first Nascar game for the PC back in 1993. IMO EA is in no rush to do anything because they have an exclusive license with Nascar.Comment

I think EA is on the right track with 08. They just need to improve the AI, give the drivers personalities, and bring back the atmosphere that used to be in their games and then some. Of course if 08 sells well they'll probably just sit back, pat themselves on the back and not even try to improve it.Comment

Re: What company should develop a NASCAR Sim?
Daytona was not in any NASCAR game until I believe NASCAR RACING 4 and EA's NASCAR 2001. There was a demo disc for NASCAR 3 that used Daytona and was later hacked to get the track into the actual game but it wasn't available legally. Pocono has been in and out of the games due to licensing issues and the original NASCAR RACING by Papyrus only had 8 tracks out of the box with an expansion pack for 7 or 8 more. I do not however know if the 15 or 16 tracks were all the Cup tracks at the time, except Daytona of course.

Re: What company should develop a NASCAR Sim?
I think that EA is on the right track(no pun intended) with Nascar 08. The fact that I can add tire pressure to individual tires, set camber, grille tape, supspension and the likes is a good step. Also on the track the game is pretty good. Not great, but good. The fact that now AI cars will pit after an accident is something that is long overdue.
The biggest problem that I have with '08 is the Chase for the Cup mode. I shouldn't have to earn licenses and contracts and the likes to start my career. I should be given a truck ride or Busch ride(or Featherlights if they bring them back) to earn my stripes and learn the necessities I need to succeed. I love this in the previous games. I also liked the fact of owning my own team and hiring and firing drivers.
Hopefully will with get last gen features with a next gen racing experience next year. This year its hit and miss. The racing is good, the features leave something to be desired.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

The sad thing is that Microsoft rushed the 360 to get it on the market first and now they are paying the price. Its a shame because its a very good system when working.Last edited by countryboy; 08-08-2007, 10:09 PM.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
