Ok. I am VERY new to this PhotoShop business, but I like the idea of creating my own car and I would consider myself pretty artistic. I have great ideas, I just don't know how to execute them. So here are a few questions to ask.

1)How can I paint just certain parts of the car? Like if I wanted to do some sort of design on the side of the car? All I can figure out is how to make the base of the car one color.

2)How can I get just one number on my car from using a template from madgrafx.com?

3)Finally, when I use text boxes, how can I make the font bigger?

Big thanks to anyone that can help me. I am having a lot of fun making my first car, and with your help I can have even more fun. I am making a Taco Bell car and once I get it looking better I will post it here.

You can use the Marquee Tool Or the Lasso tool

2)How can I get just one number on my car from using a template from madgrafx.com?
You can use the magic wand tool and select similar or grow option


3)Finally, when I use text boxes, how can I make the font bigger?
You can either make it 23 and then click the layer on the right and use Ctrl T (transform) and make it what ever sive you want.

--Paintbrush, Pencil, Pen are the main things to use to paint with. The pen tool will be one of the easiest ways to draw up curved lines. Practice will make it alot easier as time goes on once you figure out what to do and how to do it.

2)How can I get just one number on my car from using a template from madgrafx.com?

--Some of the numbers are multi-layered so you'll need to either have all the layers selected or have them merged in order to copy. Marquee or lasso tool

3)Finally, when I use text boxes, how can I make the font bigger?

--Text in PS will have a toolbar near the top of the screen so you can select the size. Edit>Transform>Scale would be another way

I built mine, it is camo (milticam) car with my company as the sponsor. I LOVE the game and this is great.

Hi everyone. I just registered because i am interested in making cars for 09 Nascar. I have made one Jeep car that is my own creation, and i have also replicated 2 Earnhardt cars that i think are very good! They took about 2hrs each and i am proud of them. My name is budman21901 on the game. Check out my locker for the cars. I made them all public. I am only learning photoshop so these cars took some time. Your number on the right side needs to be leaned forward on both Earnhardt cars.

Here is one im working on.. I haven't settled on a number or a number design, Will likely ghost in a number as to not take away from the paint.

The base is flat black followed by 2 layers of flake.




It really gets set off in the game under the lights. I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Okay, I don't know what to do. I've tried downloading .dds files from http://www.nascar09paintshop.info/, but when I go to try and upload them to my EA Locker, they all "fail specification test." What am I doing wrong? I don't have the ability to make my own, so I can only rely on downloading custom cars, but I can't get them to work....

The person that created the file could have messed up with the save and did not save as DXT1 or they had bitmaps enabled.. its most likely on their end than your loading.

If you'd like I'll give you a copy of a .dds of mine to see if you can load that up
