Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
Finally unlocked the F3000 (it is the second to last group if you are wondering). The handling is crazy - they feel like they are on rails when cornering and the brakes are so good I am having to adjust all of my breaking points.
Even though they handle like butter it is really hard to put up competitive times. You really have to get used to putting a lot more faith in the handling of your car and pushing the edge that much further out. I run with the back of the pack on the novice AI they are that much faster than me.Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
I disagree. Race Pro is what I wish Forza was--great physics model, good AI, and 15 more cars on the grid, while (IMHO), Forza has decent physics model, ok AI, and 7 other cars on the track--7? I don't think Race Pro was shooting for the kiddies that like to paint their cars, customize them, etc., or for that matter, the casual professional reviewer who thinks that all racing games should be carbon copies of the others.
IMHO, Race Pro was shooting for a different niche. And in the end, if there's a game out there for what you like, then hey, win-win.
Yep. JMS to get a better appreciation of the racing, race on Pro mode, cockpit view, and outside of the career. It gets even better too once you unlock some of the beasts in the GTSport class.
Also, what people have to keep in mind is that you're only driving professional purpose built race cars on Race Pro, whereas Forza is all street cars outside of the R class. So, in fairness only compare Forza's R class vs Race Pro. When doing that it's easy to see the difference in the physics and just how much better Race Pro really is.Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
After hearing all the reviews and reading through this forum, I think I'm gonna have to pick it up. Wish I could find it someplace around here to rent but I guess I can't really go wrong for only $40. Of course with MLB The Show coming out next week, not sure how much it'll get played.
Does anyone know if they are still planning on releasing a demo? I'm guessing not, since it's not out by now. But figured I'd ask.Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
I'm in the same boat. I'm eagerly awaiting the release of The Show and mlb 2k9. On top of it all, I just built myself a decent PC and I'm running nightly races against the AI in rFactor and NR2003. I downloaded the Race '07 (PC) demo just to get a feel of what to expect from Race Pro and it's pretty cool.
I 100% miss being able to chat with my friends online via XBL.

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
if ea released a sim like this, with such quality racing, with cars and trucks actually feeling different, it would b awesome. with a fully blown out use of the nascar liscense, cars working together, driver personalites, cars actually wrecking and making mistakes when ur not the cause of it. the fact that it would b amazing is exactly y it ain't gunna happen. race pro will keep me busy though.Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
I picked it up today. Just found out that we had a Gamestop open up this month within 30 mins of me. Before the closest one was a hour away. So decided to go check it out. Of course the guy at the counter had never heard of it.So far only had a vew short time to play it. Plan to spend alot more time today getting a feel for it. So if you guys ever want to do some online racing, hit me up. Gamertag: Jeffrey99.

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
Of course it is,it's the only racing game of the year so far.
I rented it for a day. Better than the Forza 2,GRID (played the demos) and that Ferrari game on Breakstation 3.
Am I missing something or is there no handbrake?
Certianly lacking in the presentation/entertainment aspects, feels more like golf.
Also terribly lacking in the graphics department and there's been quite a bit of screen tearing going on. (1080p)Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
Yeah it is just a racer and at that it excels but once your off the track......there isn't much else besides tweaking the cars setup.
I played online last night and it was fun just like Forza.....some cars were lagging which made it very hard to try and pass when they are jumping all over the screen.
Racers to come
GRID 2
DiRT 2
Fuel
Forza 3
GT5
Need for Speed Shift
Nascar 2010
Take your pick......thats all we got.......Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
We really need to get some private races going, the open races are just not working well and have too many problems. But the private ones are just fine. In fact, if I'm not unlocking cars via the easiest career settings (whatta bad idea that was by Simbin) I'm always up for some extended practices and races to dial in setups and learn tracks. I've mostly been racing with the WTCC cars, but I've got some of the GT cars unlocked now also so they might be fun to race with too.
Between this game, NHL online, and MLB2k9 coming shortly, I dunno where I'm going to find time to play all these. But we should try to have at least a few nights a week scheduled to get together and race a track or two.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
I'd like to get in on some races with you guys. Problem is, I'm not the best driver in the world and I'd hate to break too late in a curve and ruin everyone's game with a big pileup. Nto sure how I'd hold up competing with some of the more seasoned racers on here.
Still, if anyone would like to add me, my gamertag on Live is RazzieputinComment

Well after playing the game alot over the past week, I've realized I really dislike the career mode. It really seems pointless to me, other then of course you have to race it to unlock new cars. Just a quick question though, do I need to run every contract? Or can I just run the ones that don't have any cars unlocked for single player? It really seems like championship is the better choice of the two modes, other then of course the whole rain or dry thing. Think I may just go down to easy, just to make sure I can finish each race in 1 try and then move on to championship.
I think what I need now is to try and get some online races in.Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
Yeah, the career is not very good compared to championship; but you have to run through it to unlock cars. You do not unlock cars by class - you unlock by model. So if you only race for the Viper team in the GT Sport class then that will only unlock the Vipers to run online. As soon as you sign for the team it is unlocked.
From my experience the money is pretty tight so moving up to the upper classes will require you to run several contracts below it. So you really can't pick and choose too much because you won't have enough money to get to F3000/WTCC Extreme cars.
I guess the one good thing about career is it keep inexperienced drivers out of the higher classes online. I could only imagine the mess online races would have been during the first weeks with everyone trying to hop right into the beast known as F3000.Comment

Re: Race Pro - You got it yet?
Wow, what a game!!! Just picked it up today and I'm blown away. Yes the graphics are subpar, but they service their purpose. The driving model is straight up sick!!!! The professional settings kicked my arse pretty bad at first but with practice that will be the way to go.
Best $40 I've spent in quite some timeXBL Gamertag: hoos4974
