Sadly this game doesn't care about new PC's, as it only capable of utilizing one processing core, so it comes down to that. I'm sure the rest of your PC is way above what the recommended specs are for the game, so it comes down to can a single processor in your system run the game at a solid frame rate?Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

I run it almost maxed out on an ASUS G72."The older I get, the faster I was!"

Re: NASCAR 2003 Season - OS Server Racing
Now, my current laptop (ACER Aspire 7740G-6390) with its 1 gb graphics card runs NR 2003 pretty well. I am getting a new desktop soon and it should only make the experience better.
IIRC, this game is heavily reliant on clock speed and won't take advantage of dual cores, RAM above 4 GB, etc., but my new desktop is going to have a much higher clock speed, so that helps.Comment

Re: NASCAR 2003 Season - OS Server Racing
the minimal/recommended specs FWIW:
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
MINIMUM
Pentium II 450MHz Processor
64MB RAM
16MB Direct3D Accelerated Video Card w/ OpenGL 1.1
8X CD-ROM Drive
DirectX 8.1
RECOMMENDED
Pentium III 800MHz Processor
128MB RAM
32MB Direct3D Accelerated Video Card
DirectX compatible Sound Card
DirectX compatible Game Controller
56Kbps Modem
that is not considering mods though. but I would assume most Laptops from the last 5-7 years should run it without any issues. the game is 11+ years old.
I don't believe the game is ever CPU intensive, even with mods. With higher resolution mods, it'll likely only effect the GPU/RAM side of things.
EDIT:
56k modem. lolLast edited by Solidice; 05-28-2014, 08:45 PM.Comment

Re: NASCAR 2003 Season - OS Server Racing
I still can't get it to run well...
After constantly messing with all of the INI files, the game either immediately crashes to desktop or runs like a slug. There seems to be no middle ground.
I wish there was a sight that would just tell me what numbers to put in instead of the calculations. I haven't been able to run it at a decent framerate with the newer mods in quite some time.Comment
