NR2003 mods and questions

I have been wanting to get back into nascar. Have to justify that G25 wheel thats collecting dust. I started with Nascar 09 just because I recently formated my hard drive. As I remember some tracks its ok, others the back end seems to come out no matter how much time I setup or take my time. Its been a while and I was never a pro.

However I do remember the time I put into setups on NR2003 seemed to matter more. I could setup my wheel and get it the way I wanted. The only thing I didn't like recently was having to use the old rules: no lucky dog, racing back to the line, and the old points system.

Going to install it again and get setup. Have to dig out the old paint jobs and find some new ones. I have some mods but that leads to my question.

What are some good mod sites? Anything that makes it more current like whats going on in the 2010 season?

I know there is that site for Iracing, but the cost is not for me at the moment. Seems like its a big investment to get only some of the tracks for nascar and then all the other add ons.

Thanks in advance for any help. I look forward to getting back into 2003 with the closest setup to current I can.

Thanks for the replies. Will check these out.

Looks like its old school rules with new graphic/track updates. Thats cool though. It still is the best racing game I own.

Too bad they lost the rights to EA back then. They would probably have made a few more versions over the years.

Maybe with the license given up now by EA( I think and hope thats true) someone will step up and make a true sim again. I know GT5 will feature the cars. However I am hoping for something like NR2003 and less like the EA versions.

Just looking over the tracks real quick on revamped and reloaded. I see they have new versions of all but 2 tracks, unless I missed them.

If not do I just use the old versions of Las Vegas and Richmond or are there other versions more current somewhere else?

I lost all my mod files and such when I did a system recovery a few days ago. I'm probably going to be getting a new laptop this summer sometime, though, with more RAM, more HDD space, better graphics card, ect., so all will be well in the end as I may finally be able to utilize the high-end graphics settings of NR2003.

Anyways, this is the best racing game out there, for me. I'd played console racers most of my life until I bought this game a year ago and it's changed the racing experience for me.

I've actually owned the first NASCAR game Papyrus put out, Nascar Racing Season 1999, and NR 2002, but I only played with a joystick back then before it broke. I didn't get a wheel until June 2009, so I went awhile without PC racing!

I've given some thought to downloading the first Papyrus NASCAR game from 1994 just for kicks, but I'm not even sure if it would work on XP or Vista.
