Re: NR 2003 Mods
www.riouxmods.com has a COT mod and I think some other stuff.
http://nr2k3tracks.com/n2k3tracks.html For tracks (not really the greatest site though)
I used to have a couple other sites but I think they've either gone defunct or moved.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII
Penguins : 1990/91, 1991/92, 2008/09, 20015/16, 2016/17
Pirates : 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971, 1979
Panthers (FB): 1915, 1916, 1918, 1929, 1931, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1976

Re: NR 2003 Mods
There are actually 2 COT Mods currently:
Bullring/SS.net- http://bigdonlinemotorsports.com/Sprintcupseries.html
Rioux- http://www.desmodsracing.com/download
There is a 3rd it is Dan Nisbets COT mod and at Bullring they have the spoiler for it.
As for trucks, Team Omega had one but they closed but the mod is available at Rioux's site.
There is also a Nationwide COT being worked on at simracingdesign.
Cars and Trucks are available from various sites depending on what mod.Comment

Re: NR 2003 Mods
Skittles.......If you want to go the controller route, I would suggest buying a wired xbox 360 controller. I use it once in awhile when I dont feel like connecting my Logi wheel, and it does pretty darn good. It cost around 49.99
If you want to go the wheel route, but do not want to spend a ton of money, I will always suggest the Logitech Momo. You can find this wheel at Best Buy or really anywhere else for $70 to $100.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: NR 2003 Mods
Another option if you don't want to spend a lot of money and have a PS2 is to buy an adaptor that allows you to connect the PS2 controller to a USB port on your computer. I got one for $12 at Radio Shak.
Not to hijack the thread, but I wonder if I could just use a PS3 controller since it already has a USB cable to attach to the PS3.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: NR 2003 Mods
Well, first you're going to need software to unpack the downloaded mod. Either WinZip or WinRar. Free versions can be found online. Next, it depends on if the download is an setup file or folder. It it's a setup file then just click run and you're computer will do the rest, all you have to do is follow the in the installation process. If it's a folder then drop it into C:\Papyrus\NASCAR Racing 2003 Season\series and you should be set.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: NR 2003 Mods
Wanted to bump this thread as I'll be picking up a gaming pc in about a month and already have a copy of NR 2003.
Are the sites contained in this thread still considered good sites? Is there a 'defacto' site that most of the NR2003 committee likes to go to based on its reputation of good mods?
Also, a few questions:
1) Is the Bullring mod considered the best?
2) Are separate downloads needed for cars, physics, etc.? Or does one particular download cover them all?
3) The recent efforts of NASCAR to bring back pack racing notwithstanding, is there a way to ensure either through specific track downloads or specific car physics downloads, etc., that I can have 2011 cars/physics for all tracks, but then have pack racing at Daytona and Talledega?
4) Is there anything noteworthy I should keep in mind when 'updating' the game with mods?
Forgive me if these are basic questions, I'll be a new PC gamer, and I've never modded a game before.Comment

No worries about bumping it......
Question 1 Bullring Mod is a very good mod, and it's extremely fps friendly. The Rioux mod is extremely detailed, but seeing that NASCAR 2003 only has the ability to use 1 core, it can be very taxing on the CPU and the fps can suffer dramatically.
Question 2 Each mod and the site it is hosted on will offer different versions of the mod. One mod may offer cup physics, while another version of the same mod may offer truck physics. Each mod should also offer a hi-res and low-res version of their car-sets so pick the one that works best for
Question 3 Not sure(sorry)
Question 4 Not really, installing them is pretty straight forward. If you have any issues though, just hop back in here and ask away!

The NASCAR rules changes can't be changed to what they are today so you have to race back to the line, single file restarts, no lucky dogs and the use of the old point system. For the point system there is a points calculator that you can download to enter in the new points system if you choose, but other than that your screwed if you want new stuff.
Someone said the NRtracks site sucks. Yeah it's primitive, but it gives you a most options for mods, tracks (you might find your local short track there!) & old car sets.
It takes a long time and it's hard to know what to look for right away because so much stuff is on different sites and that's because the community has divided the last few years and no one really wants to work together for the common goal. It shouldn't be hard to google search for say the newest Cup, NWS & Truck series mods along with up to date car sets and tracks. All the little nice additions to the game like stuff you wouldn't imagine being for the game is the hard part. Rouix's mods made the most different types of mods, but there is a lot of others. When going to these sites go through the forums of each to see what people talk about and you may find something you like.Comment

Re: NR 2003 Mods
I can answer that one. The actual racing can't be changed from what it was like in 2003 when the game came out. Now yes people have updated tracks and other things to make it closer to what it's like today, but it's not close to what you see. At restrictor plate tracks it will always be 2-3 wide lines of 15-20 cars no matter what. The newer cookie cutter tracks and tracks like Bristol have been updated to allow for more racing in the high lines compared to what the default tracks allow.
