If you're wanting to race fewer than 5 laps, buy Forza or something. The game isn't made for that to be the primary way to race.Comment

Well then buddy, you've bought the wrong game then. What you're wanting to do is akin to playing only one quarter of a football game or 3 innings of a baseball game. Circuit racing games like this aren't meant to be played with that short of laps, it kind of kills all the strategy.Comment

Re: F1 2010 Impressions (PS3, 360, PC)
Just an update. This game is a bad influence. I have a HUGE race coming up in a little over a week in our ALMS Forza 3 Series and haven't really practiced like I should. I've been eating time on F1 2010. I really like this game. I can honestly say this is a great buy for me and I haven't even tried the career yet. Multi, Leaderboards and Custom GP races have taken too much of my time. I don't want to start career until I have a grasp of the game and the little details and I'm slowly getting that. Did some runs around Silverstone and I swear the hours blew by faster than the cars in this game on a straight.
Maybe when it comes to racing games I'm simple-minded and easily entertained but if it's true so be it, I'm having alot of fun with it. Although if that was true I'd be singing the praises of Prologue and that ain't happening among some other weak racing titles I've sampled. So I don't think that's it.
Problem is I'm not very good at it and don't think I'll get but so much better. On the 360 I did a silverstone and got a 1:31.310 I believe. Whatever it was it got me ranked about 1300's somewhere on the leaderboard. Does anyone know if that's any good? Probably not.

I've lost hours to just doing time trials to practice the circuits for the upcoming race in my career. This game is great, and very addictive.
If you're scoring around 1300 on the leaderboards, that's pretty damn good. Most of the 'dry' times I get are in the 4 and 5k range on the tracks I've done! But the 'wet' (rain) times I am right around 100 on three tracks. Guess most people don't run TT's on the rain. I do both to prepare for possible poor conditions on race weekend in the career.GO 'HAWKS!

I guess you're overseas and own a PS3. Seems that's the magic mix for the patch at the moment. Don't think it hit stateside yet and definitely hasn't hit the 360. Didn't stop me from having fun with it nonetheless.Comment

This game is probably if not the top sim racer in the market.
I've been involved in sim racers for years now. From PC to Xbox360. This one deffinately takes the cake. A fun career, real weather that affects handling, and good online.
There are a few complaints hear and there. I'm a sim league racer and ive seen things that many wont believe from 4 wide finishes to to 12 cars flipping.
It's good that codemasters took the extra time to consult with gamers and fans to make a great game. If they keep this up wow lord only knows what could be in the future.Comment

Re: F1 2010 Impressions (PS3, 360, PC)
How do I know what the best "car setup" is??
IS there something I should NEVER touch? What's really the main thing to change that will create faster lap times??
Really loving the time trial thing now. I am racing at Sakhir, and put up a 1:59.xxx time which I was please with! But looking at the leaderboard I'm in the 16k range so not near as good as I thought
All I did was set it to "fastest" car setup tho. Seems too generic for me. I put the world record guy on there and he has a ridicukous 1:16.042 lap time! Apparently he somehow cheated, cuz he was thru the first sector in barely 6 seconds! NO WAY THATS POSSIBLE!! I'll stick with adding the "next target time" for ghost car to chase, that will keep me chasing down ppl at my level and don't CHEAT!
Is there anyway to look at the car setup the leaders used? If so, that'd be awesome to look at and copy down to use for myself! Anyways, my main question is, how do you guys setup ur cars? Thanks!Last edited by DarthRambo; 11-03-2010, 02:04 PM.Comment

From there you can download a PDF document which will give you set-ups for every circuit. Worked well for me so far, my qualifying has been much better. I can now usually start 10th-12th on the grid (BMW Sauber).Comment
