i qualified for one of the middle splits with a high 41 i think. I only ran 2 qualifiers and wasnt lucky enough to get some clear track to run a clean lap ( pb is mid 40) . For the 500 is there license requirements? ive only been on iracing for a cpl months, im a-class on the road and c-class on the oval would i be eligible? is the car the a-class cot?

av7, that stinks about getting run over. There seemed to be a fair amount of people that dont understand endurance races are not sprints. I had a few close calls with some hero stang and dp drivers in my split. i finished with 1 inc for 90 laps +1.38sr

All classes are eligible. They split you into groups by rating. I'll be hosting some practice sessions over the next few weeks send me a pm or something and we can talk about getting together and working on setups. I got a good one so far that I've worked on. Its very stable for Daytona just needs a couple tweaks to get a little more speed. But I'm willing to work with people on set ups.

There have been so many people using a set up glitch to exploit the outcome of truck races this week that I refuse to race until iracing fixes this. People have found a way to get a truck that has failed tech and race with it. I've seen trucks with 10 inch ride height in front and 5 in the rear get out there and drive away from a 6 car draft easy. It's sad that some people want to win so bad that they resort to cheating to do so. I have never tried to win with an illegal car and never would if I can't win within the rules that iracing has laid out I won't race there.

Frankly just became aware of this problem (people loading illegal setups) two days ago and we jumped right on it. Fix was made and in testing. Will roll out fix tomorrow morning assuming our fix works in testing which we are quite sure it will. Again this just surfaced. Sorry about it.

DFGT and G27 are the only two cheaper wheels I'd buy.

i just kind of discovered this iRacing deal a couple days ago, then today it dawned on me that this thread was here.

my biggest interest in racing would be in the form of nascar, and i saw someone posted something to do with an oval series.

can anyone with any experience elaborate more on the oval series, or the nascar series, what ever iRacing offers?

Need to get the license if you want to run the official stuff otherwise you'll have to just join up hosted sessions by other members. Not sure how the popularity is as I've made the switch to road.

You'll start out in Legends, need to have 4 races or time trials and a safety rating (rating based on number of corners and incidents) before you can get promoted to D license.

They do have a "Fast Track" system where you get promoted without having to wait for the end of the season but I believe it only happens once a season still (could have changed, I just haven't bothered to ever look)

                            Rookie: Legend
D License: Late Model, Modified (SK)
                            C: Trucks, Modified (Tour)
B: Nationwide (Fixed setups and Open setups), Silvercrown, Sprint, Indy Oval
                            A: Cup

Those are what your oval options are for racing

iRacing looks solid but the costs are outright ridiculous.

If you factor in how much it is costing them to keep the sim up to date go out and scan tracks keep the servers up and going and all the other in and outs of the company I dont think it's that bad of a deal. You pay for what you get and iRacing is a top of the line simulation.
