Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I kind of wanted to do that as well, but so far it's been hard enough learning a car and track each week. At least to the point where I'm putting in good lap times consistently.
I just did a spec racer race last night on Charlotte road course for 20 laps. I came in 4th of I believe 20. It was a lot of fun. I'll take 4th when it's a car I've never raced and a track I've never driven. You could tell I was playing it safe. My fastest lap was 1:26, but once I got into 4th I was pretty much staying at 1:28. I wasn't comfortable pushing it.
Right now I'm not the best driver, but I drive smart and safe enough I can routinely get a top 5 finish in the lower levels. Only on Laguna and Okayama am I comfortable in the mx5 to push it lap after lap because I truly know those tracks.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
The finish to that race Tuesday night was... um... interesting. Nothing like taking out the leader for the win. LOL.
I guess I'll probably be racing in next Tuesday night's race at Chicagoland.
Tonight's NiS race at Michigan was something. Top split was out of control with an SOF close to 6000 (never been in a split with such a high SOF). My set was wrecking loose and I ran around at the back and let others wreck. I finally got it tightened up some late and was able to be a little competitive and ended up 10th of 15 cars left running. It was a full-length race for some reason (NiS is usually half-length). Michigan has been one of my worst tracks in the past, so I'm generally pleased.
It looks like they give you more of a jump on starting road career, so probably start first couple races in oval to get a feel for it and then start on road. In the long run, plan to do both fairly even. Even though people online say it's best to concentrate on one or the other.

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I'm trying to decide what series I want to run for S3. I'm thinking either the fixed trucks or the fixed B car. What do you guys think?Comment

The leader that got dumped (Lance Gomez Jr.) has a bit of a reputation for dirty driving himself, so I don't feel too bad for him, though, haha.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Won my first iRacing race today. It was a thrill had two great 10+ lap battles with the guy in this video. This last one was for the win. I passed him right before the white flag and then led the final lap for my first win.

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Nice! I haven't won an iRacing race since last July, I think, haha. Even when I do Late Models, it seems like there's some 6000 iRating alien in it no matter what, haha.
EDIT: Well, I did win 2 of the 4 races in the Winter NiS League I ran, but those were hosted races.Last edited by superjames1992; 06-15-2015, 05:25 PM.Comment

For sure, I'll be busy this Saturday but I'm up for it as well. This is by far the most fun I have had playing games. I can't get enough of it.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I am excited for season 3. It will be my first actual season of iRacing as I just got into it a few weeks ago. Looking to have fun with the Skip Barber and maybe the Spec Racer too.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”
