I'd suggest muting your speakers before watching this. The rev limiter gets annoying in about a tenth of a second.

Here is a race I did at Watkins Glen earlier. Some exciting battles. I like the Glen a lot. There's a few parts of the track where you have to be careful, such as the esses, though.

My driving style here seems to be pretty good at keeping tire degradation at bay. I seemed to have a huge advantage late in each fuel run.

You seem to do a good job at not sliding all over the place on exit which helps a ton. Me on the other hand, I might as well have ice under my tires with as heavy as I am on the throttle. I've always been really hard on tires, something I'd love to fix at some point, but I think my driving style is pretty well ingrained in me by now and there's probably not much fixing to be done.

I put in a couple of races in the Skip Barber today. My last race was a high SOF race and it was a hell of a race. I ended up 10th and the top guys were way faster than me. However, I did have some people around my speed and had a hell of a battle on the last lap.

That is why this game is so addicting. It's the closest I'll ever get to real racing.

Haven't been feeling it so far this week. I don't feel fast enough at Gateway, but maybe I'll try a race tonight to see if it's just my thinking and not actually true.

Did some more work at Michigan. It's going a lot like Pocono. I wreck it too much to consider 100 laps still at this point. However, I am getting consistent 39's and get in the mid-39's often now. Could improve on it quite a bit, but it's a start for being competitive. Just so hard to find a good line there and whether or not I should brake and where to enter and exit the turns. I feel like I do something different every lap trying to find the fastest way.

And the answer is yes, they managed to divert my pedals to the correct address. Now they're sitting at home while I'm stuck at work. It's going to be a long day of waiting.

Hopefully tonight I don't forgot to register for a race and look at the clock 30 seconds after the race session started like I did last night.

Yeah, I think I might be a little lighter on the throttle on exit. On ovals, I often burn the RF off faster than a lot of guys in my splits, though. I think I have a tendency to turn the wheel too much sometimes.

Anyways, I guess I'm going to run the full-length 90-lap Watkins Glen race tonight. I hear the key to doing well here is making the race on two stops. No idea how much I need to save in order to do that and I don't have time to run a full fuel run now, so I guess I'll just run it hard on the first fuel run and see where to go from there. I haven't run a full fuel run yet since in the A Fixed races I short-pitted halfway through the race at around lap 21-23 out of 45.

EDIT: Woo, starting 11th in my split. Can't wait to get wrecked in T1.

Finally got a chance to try my new CSR Elite pedals (Almost 4 weeks after I first ordered the original pair) and I had forgotten how different a load cell feels compared to a potentiometer based brake. Going to take some getting used to again.

Just did 25 laps in the Gen6 at the Glen and set my second fastest lap on my first lap with the new pedals, and my fastest lap, which was a new PB, on lap 25 and decided to call it quits from there.

Think I'm going to need to figure out a way to tilt them forward slightly, as the angle of the brake with my seating position is a bit too upright and my foot isn't very comfortable. I remember having this problem before and I think I just attempted to get used to it which probably isn't very smart. I think a small block of wood would probably do it, but it's something I'm going to have to figure out at some point.

I've always turned the wheel too much. Of course a big part of that is I'm not very consistent with when I turn into the corner, so I end up trying to muscle the car to the inside which doesn't work very well.

dont forget with a load cell brake to go into iracings game options and set the force factor to 0.0. if you havent already. one trick also is setting your brake force (pedal knob) so that your brake pressure locks up only under real heavy braking. it took me a lil while to get used to using loadcell pedals but they improved my consistency and speed.

with my csp's i had the same issue mounted to my obutto , i just cut a piece of 3/8th wood to fit under the pedal base and it made a world of difference on the angle.

I currently have my pedals setup as you suggested where they don't lock except under heavy braking. Well, close to it anyway, I'm still getting things dialed in.

I'm going to give the block of wood under the pedals a shot this weekend. Still unsure if I actively want to raise my pedals off the ground which would help, or just tilt them a little bit. Heck, might end up doing both, we'll see.

It went well. I made a small mistake and slid off track in the final few laps, but it didn't really cost me anything aside from nearly causing me to go a lap down. I saved a couple laps too much fuel in the 2nd stint and maybe could have moved up another spot if I had saved less fuel than I did, but it is what it is and I was just playing it safe with fuel as the last thing I wanted to do was have to stop a third time despite saving fuel. I also had a hairy situation early in the race trying to pass someone going into the bus stop. I figured he'd back out being on the outside, as is the typical etiquette, but he didn't and I ended up sliding in front of him and we both got 4xs, but no real damage, at least on my end. The bus stop is basically impossible to take two-wide. Oh, well.

So is the FOV adjustment helping more than hurting at this point?

Well I kind of hit a snag. All of a sudden, iRacing never remembers my calibrations. It constantly asks me to "Configure Controls". Works just fine awhile ago, but now it's like it can never remember what my brake pedal is and thinks I have a clutch. Tried resetting. May need to redownload drivers and see if that does it.

Deleting my controls file did the trick. Must have been corrupted or something.
