Season 4 started this week, how is everyones season going so far? I've only ran 2 races both in the Nationwide car @ Talladega, started 2nd in both of them finished 3rd in the first and won my last one. I hope to get a few more in tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well and that we can get that race @ Chicago or Michigan in sometime.

        Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Nice!!!! Same here, I've done 3 dega races and had such a blast. One was the fixed version.

One race was incredible. I would have finished 3rd or 4th, but a black flag at the end dropped me down to 7th.

There was pack of 3 up front, me by myself and another pack a few seconds back. The guy in back wanted to draft with me so I slowed down until he caught up and then me and him were able to catch up to the leaders, but it was a moot point since the final caution came out.

Again, the pack of 3 were about 3 seconds or more in front and then we started working again and lap after lap we were closing in a tenth. Then we finally caught up to them on lap 55 and there it stayed until the last lap.

But I guess I was just way too excited and coming to the finish line I was a little too aggressive on the tri-oval and got into a spin that took me through the pit lane exit which gave me the penalty. Otherwise would have been 3rd I believe.

It was so hard to go sleep after that. Can't wait to do a few more races this weekend.

I really had planned on just doing trucks this season, but I can't handle those small tracks yet. Richmond is killing me. So whatever, I'll race whatever track is funner that week.

I think I got a truck set up for richmond. T.J. Majors gave it to me. I'll check and see what sets I have and post them.

I've ran about 4 or 5 F1 races, a Grand-Am race, and 2 Silver Crown races, not having the best of luck this season, but still having fun.

Hey guys. I was wondering how difficult this game is to get into...especially for someone that knows next to nothing about racing. However, I find the game and the community very appealing.

                        Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Starting out isn't difficult, if you are into oval racing you start with a Legends car and race on s couple different short tracks Same thing with Road Courses you are in a Solstice and a couple of road courses. You can't make any changes to the set ups in those cars they are fixed so you can just focus on racing. The best thing to do when first starting out which I had difficulty doing is just ride around and learn things and build up your rating. I tried to win and would usually crash and end up dropping my rating. Once I figured this out I started moving up and finally got my first win in the Late Model series. The competition is fun and most of the people are really good to get along with and are willing to help out. Sometimes you might even find yourself in a session banging fenders with a real celebrity race car driver.

The best thing about this if you have no experience in racing is you can move up at your own pace. A lot of drivers find a series they are comfortable with and stick with it. No matter your skill level it will put you into feilds that allow you to be competative. And like I said you can move up at your own pace. Just take your time practice, practice, practice, there are many time trial and pactice sessions to help build your skills.

Also make sure you have a steering wheel first and then sign up for your initial month which is only 5 bucks. You can do quite a bit in that time.

This is probably a better deal than the $5 for a month deal, then you can at least run 3 months. But I would say get a wheel (a decent one logitech dfgt)
A good deal on the dfgt wheel

Yes no doubt the type of wheel makes a big difference. I have tried several different wheels and have found to have a better feel of things with the Logitech G27.

thanks guys. I think I may buy a wheel and try it out. I like that G27....but damn pricey! Is it worth it? that much different than other cheaper wheels?
