    K Thanks.

Anyhow. How does the game compare to Grid physics wise? Anyone? From people with impressions please, not agendas.

Cause hearing "I like it" from people doesn't help. Only physics impressions I see in this thread are negative explanations on the physics, and no comparisons with the positive.

      Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

I only raced in two races before work.

The handling did seem a little bit touchy when using the controller, but I'm thinking It's something I just have to get used to. Helmet cam was pretty sweet, and I wish other games would impliment this feature in the future somehow.

It may be arcade, it may be sim. I'll leave that up to the other posters in this thread and the user to ultimately decide.

Bottom line I've had fun so far.

Have you played Shift 2? If so I'm concerned as to how you can say they haven't delivered a better sim.

I should have used the word seemingly to be honest. But some racing sites and posters in here have stated it's sim engine is not even close "true sim" levels. Compared to Forza and GT5.

Thus I changed my perspective to how does it compare to games like Grid etc. Since I can throw the full sim mindset out the window.

I was just expecting more since a company wanted to razz the competition. But "seemingly" does not deliver on that side of the spectrum.

          Kinda disappointing to me.

I gotcha The "fact" word threw me off.

You know from the first two races I will say it didn't feel like say Forza or GT 5did, but with my limited experience I'll wait until I get 5 or so races under my belt to decide. I plan on going home and popping it in for a hour or so and tweaking some of the user assists to find what I need.

Now a true sim racer would probably turn off all the assists, but with the controller I just can't get enough feedback with racing games in general to do that.

As have I CB. The Handling is much improved imo. Shift hand a lot more sliding than Shift 2. It still feels like Shift, just improved. Also the graphics have no taken a hit imo. Just some new lighting.

Sounds good. Keep us all updated if you can. It is not that I don't want to blindly jump in. I was hyped about this game. Just that racers take up a big chunk of time. And having time into GT5 and Grid on the PC, I want to read more since it would be a third time investment. And then there is baseball.

Impressions so far with the racing wheels and feedback on them is not so hot.

But maybe the PC has more tweak-ability.

Trust me, I totally understand the time issue. My gaming list is growing by the day, and I don't have time to play bad games. Plus with racers like you said it takes awhile to get to where you can really compete the way you want to with most.

I'll be posting some more impressions later tonight. If I don't get to them by the time you guys hit the sack they'll def. be up by the morning.

And yes, TracerBullet the sliding issue from Shift 1 is def. toned down. For a while Shift 1 felt more like you were drifting at a race track than actually racing it.

                    Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

I've been reading a few critic reviews and what I'm getting out of each one is that the few issues Shift 2 has with it is some graphical jaggy edges during times when racing (also in night mode when cars headlights are shining in your car), and load times are a bit tedious (but not as bad as gt5).

love the helmet cam (took a while to get used to it s stick with it)

Loved the map controller to any config option, love the new tracks and new feel of control when racing... sounds are excellent...

as for the graphics they are great except the JAGGIES are worse than I remember in S1. I thought there was 4xAA (360 version) last year so I'm guessing this is now 2xAA.

I like it, I think the graphics look good too. Maybe it's just me.

The helmet cam is cool, but switched to just the cockpit view, just felt it looked better. I do love the night racing from being in the cockpit though, the gauges and what not all lit up looks very cool.

Okay so I hate to harp on the negative but I feel somewhat validated to do so seeing as though I wasted $60.00 on this.

Let me start by saying I liked Shift 1 a lot and I had high hopes for this one. Almost immediately they were shot down. Once the bar is set to a certain standard it's hard to take things away that are expected.

The game is ugly I'm sorry the 1st one was waaay better. While better it still handles like a 18 wheeler on an ice rink. The menus are obnoxious and loud. The asshat racer is annoying as all hell.

I'm pretty let down over this game but somehow I kinda expected it. I mean it feels like when Madden made the leap to next gen consoles and they took things out that were guaranteed features in previous installments.

I like sim and arcade racing the same for different reasons. Do yourself a favor play Forza 3, GT5, Hot pursuit, Grid, or dirt. This game doesn't know what it wants to be. The only thing is hits spot on is burning a hole in my wallet.

Off to trade this in tommorow to lessen the blow probably will pick up Crysis instead. I thought this was gonna be a great new racing series boy was I wrong.

One last thing if I could say one thing to the developers. I'd say stop churning out uninspired rubbish every year and make something quality. End rant!

okay.. so i just gave this game another chance.. lol. I turned the steering sensitivity waaay down and turned the settings to elite with all the assists off except for abs. I forced myself to play only with helmet cam. The game was MUCH better. Helmet cam (or the regular cockpit view) is where this game is meant to be played.. that and with the assists off (the steering was not so twitchy with the sensitivity down- this helped me a bunch). I actually had a lot of fun and you could really Feel the speed in the straights. I am definitely gonna spend some more time with the game now. I'm still not so sure about the drifting aspect of the game, but time will tell.. i'd rate this game about an 8.4 at the moment..

Well I've given it about 7 races so far.

I like the Driver AI. They really can challenge you without seeming overbearing.

The Graphics seem fine to me. I can see a couple jaggies, but not nearly as bad as I've seen in other games. They don't really bother me at all.

Handling is a bit tricky. I started to get better with the game the more I played. You have to be pretty smooth with the stick and the gas. I might try adjusting the stick sensitivity and giving it another go.

Right now I wouldn't classify it as a straight sim racer. I'd say it's a fun racer, though. That's really all I need.

Here's a nasty night accident I had when trying to get used to the controls.

                              <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vqlVEbYsAVM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Damage wasn't on the fullest setting, so it was just cosmetic.

one of my best friends is in this game and i still hate it.
                                no split screen? ok.....
the cars handle like yachts. you got AWD and FWD cars swinging their backend out...
the steering is delayed by like .5 a second. thats why people are having so much problems. test it yourself. i put the controller down n tapped the joystick. by the time my finger was off the stick, it moved the wheel.
maybe im missing something, but i cant do any races unless in my career or online? can i not drive the "pro" cars, like giffen or rado's?

im a forza fan and love racing games. ef is this nonsense...
