the cars handle like yachts. you got AWD and FWD cars swinging their backend out...
the steering is delayed by like .5 a second. thats why people are having so much problems. test it yourself. i put the controller down n tapped the joystick. by the time my finger was off the stick, it moved the wheel.
maybe im missing something, but i cant do any races unless in my career or online? can i not drive the "pro" cars, like giffen or rado's?

im a forza fan and love racing games. ef is this nonsense...
Hard to put a lot of stock into EA's game developing ability anymore... it seems graphics and lighting is about the extent of their capability. Very Sad

      Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

For newcomers to the Shift series if you are going to play these games you MUST use the cockpit or helmet cam view. That is how these games are made to be played. When I go outside the car I can't even keep it on the track. When I'm in the cockpit I can run the course in close to record time. It makes a huge difference.

Ive got 23% of my career done and I'm at driver level 18. My opinion of the game hasn't changed, it's a solid fun arcade racer, but a big let down from Shift 1. Not enough has been improved to justify a $60.00 price tag. I really feel that the Dev's could have just released an upgrade as DLC to shift 1 with new cars, tracks, helmet cam and better handling and we'd have a much better game. Trade in value is only $25.00 so I'm going to keep it and finish the career mode and do some online racing. I'm also confused as to why Shift 1 looks so much better then Shift 2?

PS: Some positives: When you roll your car the crash visuals are very cool. The Engine sounds are great. I was driving my Corvette C6.R GT1 at Monaco, coming down the long straight and down-shifting into the chicane the engine sounds so sweet.

Yeah all the video's I've seen of the PC version look much better then the console version. I just don't know why it took a step down from the first one. Shift 1 looked great on the 360, why doesn't Shift 2?

            Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

started the game up, only played 3 races so far and bought me a BMW 135i to start. So far, I am liking the game. It took me like 12 tries just to beat the very first race. Kept spinning out in the grass and tapping other cars and losing control. The steering is very touching (playing on PS3 with my Logitech Driving Force GT wheel). The force feedback is STRONG, which is good, but damn it takes a lot of getting used to. So far, to me, the only let down is the graphics. I played on a 46" sony bravia 1080p LCD HDTV, and the graphics look rough around the edges. I get a lot of jaggies myself. But the sounds are phenomenal, I love the damage, and the game plays like a typical need for speed game, which I have always been a fan of. Overall, its fun. Just gotta get deeper.

Next, I gotta pop in my nascar 2011 and see how it is. My wife surprised me and bought both of them yesterday, still on shock over that.

I like the game but it's too damn hard and for that I'm gonna trade it back. I'm playing on the easiest settings ( Easy Novice ) and I'm coming in last place or quiting midway through the race because I'm losing and won't win anyway. I could win in Shift 1 on medium experienced level so this doesn't make sense. Damn shame I have to trade this.

The helmet cam is cool, but switched to just the cockpit view, just felt it looked better. I do love the night racing from being in the cockpit though, the gauges and what not all lit up looks very cool.
No, its not just you, I think the graphics look good as well. The damage system in this game is pretty great imo. I got into a big wreck with full damage on and I lost my right front tire along with my entire rear bumper

Wow, you must not be very good at racing games. I came in first place in the first 3 races, and smoked the competition on Medium difficulty, and pro driving style. Why trade it in already and not practice more??

Try modifying your cars as much as possible without moving them up in class. I've noticed I've had to fight a lot harder for my wins in this game. Modifications and choosing the right car are key. I also find that I get faster lap times with the racing line turned off. It often causes you to brake to soon. The best place to overtake is out barking the competition in the turns.

Also I've noticed that adjusting the steering sensitivity to -5 (I think. All the way to the left almost) really helps if using a controller. No loner will you get the crazy fishtail/yahct effect.

I use a controller for Shift 1 and I seem to recall having to make some adjustments to make it control well, like you mentioned. I just got NTG11 and really like that, but also will be getting Shift 2 soon.

as for the graphics (360) yes the IQ is worse with the jaggies and whatnot but there definitely seems to be a better lighting solution going on. MUCH better daylight IMO.

Also switching back to Cockpit cam from helmet cam seems to improve the look.

Overall they fixed the issues i had with S1 and I like the game better but do miss the aggressive driving medals and think they complicated the report screens and menus too much.

shift was very nice in that regard.

The controls on PC are pissing me off!!! No matter how I config it, there is a millisecond delay in my movements of the analog and what it does on the screen and causes me to have too many accidents, etc.

Does anyone have a PC configuration that has smoother responsiveness for the 360 controller....This is driving me crazy and I can't continue my Career mode until this is fixed. I went from 1 to last in less than 2 minutes, because of this crap.
