I like the game....the racing seems better than last year to me once you settle into the game for a day or so.

I like the fact that I'm not getting taken out by the AI every time I'm near them....how many times did I get landed on last year...lol

I had some intense battles for spots today....it was a rush.

It's also nice that we have a ton of real riders this year with the name label over them....It adds to the fun for me.

I also like the sense of speed this year better than last.

I like the control of the bike better last year...it's similar this year just a little different...will reserve final judgement when I finally ride the 450

Hate the fact they make you ride a crap bike and crap tracks for so long before unlock at level 10.

I think the limited content hurts this game as is without having 90 % of the stuff you do get locked. Many people wont give this game a chance.
I do agree that the wacky collision detection from last year is better, I disagree that the control of the bikes is. I think the handling physics in this game are horrible. Also I'm at level 32 I've got everything unlocked and the game has not got any better.

I honestly can't believe they didn't just take Reflex and improve on that, instead of complete changing the feel of the game.

I hear you on the control of the bike.

I miss controlling the bike in the air with the break and throttle big time.

That was awesome the last time out and it should have been left alone.

I'm blown away by not having a season mode....starts to get redundant without one.

They may add modes in the future too bad it's killing the game now....this new dlc model sucks a$$ if you ask me.

Overall I like the game. The online lobby system is 10x better than last year, last year you just drove around freestyle hoping that someone would launch the game, now you vote on a track the games launch automatically and the system is similar to the COD lobby system (thank god). The gameplay seems similar albiet watered down a bit and not as frustrating which is good and bad, it makes the game more fun yet less challenging but that was probably needed, Reflex probably turned alot of people off. I'll have more impressions later, I've only played the game for about an hour....

My final thoughts on this game, I'm now at level 38 and bored to tears. This game has nothing to offer unless you want to do all your racing online. Also with the prices of the DLC you will spending well over $100.00 on this game if you want all the SX tracks and the bikes. The 1st two bikes are up now and priced at $3.00 each. You will be seeing a couple SX tracks this July but the bulk of the Supercross mode will not be out until January of 2012. THQ will never get another penny from me, they have no clue how to run a business. This game is nothing more then a huge fail and a money grab, stay away from it.

Well the game is so awful anyway I don't think they'll be grabbing too much DLC money.

I like the game but with no SX until who knows when and it may sound stupid but wtf is up with no replay? I liked Reflex alot more. They need to go back and just sell a complete game. The buy as u go crap sucks IMO

Re: MX vs ATV Alive First Impressions

I have a different take on the "buy as you go". I think it's great. The reality for me is there are alot of games I buy for $60 that don't hold my interest enough to complete or play extensively. Matter of fact, there are very few that do hold my interest (COD, The Show, TW Golf). I would not have bought MX v. ATV this year if it was priced at $60 but for $40 I'm relatively happy with the buy and like the prospect of expanding on the game if I choose at a later date. I wish COD (or shooters in general) had the same model, say one price for the single player, another for mutiplayer, and price for both, ect....I never play the single player game in any shooter so it's a complete waste, if I could buy the multiplayer in shooters I'd own alot more of them. As it is now, I only buy COD because I'm not spending $60 on every game that comes out...if Killzone or Ressistance gave me the option of just own the multiplayer, I'd buy them for an appropriate price. But not for $60.

Well let me clarify the "buy as you go" ....if your going to do that at least have the rest of the game available if you choose to go that route. The game just feels really incomplete to me...

Not if you don't buy the extra content. If you do buy the extra stuff it's worth it or you wouldn't buy it. For example, I'll be $100 into Black Ops when the next map pack drops on PS3 and I couldn't be happier to behonest, I'm stoked that they keep releasing new content. Yet I don't hear anyone complaining in protest that the maps in the map packs weren't included in the original release of the game.

Also, how many times have you bought a game for $60 and felt let down? Maybe it's just me because I buy alot of games (1 or 2 per month) but like I said before, I don't always get what I consider to be $60 worth out of alot of games.

Someone posted this same thing on the Alive forums. The reason no one complains about paying for the COD map packs is, the COD games are complete games out of the box. You pay $60.00 you get a full single player experience as well as the online mode with several maps. The new map packs just add more to the already full game experience.

Alive on the other hand is a shallow , thin game with very little to keep a person interested. Yes it is priced $20.00 below the usual, but there is no single player career mode. Only 14 tracks worth riding and even those are just different versions of the same track in sets of 3. Example: 45 Palms MX , Oceanview, and Bamboo Hills are all the same area and all feature parts of the same track. Some are just longer then others. THQ did the same thing in Reflex, very weak track design.

You also only get two fake types of bikes , the Blaze and the Takashi. If you want to ride the OEM bikes they will cost you $3.00 each. When the SX Tracks come out in July (just a few) the bulk won't be out until 2012, those will be $5.00 for two tracks , so if you are a fan of MX, you will be spending well over $100.00 for a complete game when all is said and done. COD is a complete game when you buy it.

Personally I'm trading this pile of crap in toward Dirt 3 this Tuesday.

Very rarely despite my rep for barely liking anything. If I have the least bit of suspicion I'll be let down I'll rent in the case of 360 or wait for a sale in case of PC. Far as the other stuff...

...what he said. Plus it's hard to know if it's worth it until you buy it when it comes to DLC. I'd like to add people do complain when it's already on the disc like the initial batch here appears to have been. If in 8 months the SX comes out and it's found to have been on disc as well, that'll be their heads. For that matter there's barely enough content here on disc to keep someone playing for that long. Let's not forget the 5-10% of people that don't even take their consoles online at all.

I only rented it so can't trade it in but I will make a similar comment in that I wish I had kept MTX Mototrax. I figured something better would come along this gen or there'd be a sequel at least but it hasn't.

Can't wait for the new tracks....I've never been a "career" guy meaning the single player has never grabbed me (in any game)...maybe that's why I don't mind this years game. I'm really impressed with the online version of this game which is probably why I'm stoked for more tracks, I just hope the game holds on online following because it is a blast to play online...I'd even argue it's one of the better online racers I've ever played, I've never had trouble finding a race online and it's relatively lag free. However I do get my butt kicked on a regular basis, but it's still fun.
