Would've had more fun with Joe Danger. Not that it's spectacular either but it's easily 100000 times better than this. Well I guess a 100000 x 0 is still 0....ummm +6.5-7.5 better than this. At least this isn't as bad as the NASCAR game, pretty much the only good thing you can say about it.

Re: MX vs ATV Alive First Impressions
Ha ha, I figured 360's Games w/Gold is how this old thread found it's way back
Anyway, I downloaded it and I enjoy it.
For sure, online is pretty fun and I've wasted plenty of time there. Look for me (Steve0Man81) sometime.
Haven't tried MXGP though I hear it's great and I might give it a run at some point. Thing is I'm much more of a "casual" SX/MX fan and enjoy the arcade-like aspects of the MvA series.Comment

Re: MX vs ATV Alive First Impressions
Looking back on this thread yeah I was tough on this game. However I own all the MX vs ATV games and with Alive THQ ripped us off, plain and simple. We supported their idea of releasing an incomplete game , with the plan that they would complete the game with DLC. That never happened, and they closed up shop leaving us with crap.Comment

Re: MX vs ATV Alive First Impressions
I remember looking at Alive when it was still new and I thought the "a la carte" DLC idea they were promoting was ok but I agree that THQ really mucked that one up. It was more of a PR stunt. It looked like a good idea on paper that was terribly executed. Little did we know they were starting to circle the drain too.Looking back on this thread yeah I was tough on this game. Oh and now I hear that Alive's MotoDepot is off line again now that the game is no longer free via XBL.
Ah well, game itself is alright, especially since I downloaded it free.Comment

Re: MX vs ATV Alive First Impressions
I got this on PSN for $10 in the last 12 months...it was a "ultimate" edition that came with ALL of the DLC for Alive and (quite oddly) ALL of the DLC for Reflex as well.
I enjoy Alive's physics over Reflex, but Reflex had more variety of race types, career mode and vehicles. Reflex was the better overall game, which means the series took a step backwards with Alive. The gameplay in Alive is great, but the unlock track structure and decision to scrap any career mode made every race feel like its just a coin arcade game.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Switch (Mario Kart and Zelda)
PS3 (old 2k games and the Show)Comment

Pretty much the same feeling I have. I enjoyed Reflex's varied content of vehicles and modes and the career mode/structure but I kind of like Alive's physics better. One difference: I don't mind Alive's unlock structure. I like that you start out on a 2 stroke as a "weekend warrior" and work your way up, though I agree that since you have to unlock the tracks via "level up" instead of through a career mode it does get tedious having to race the same 3 tracks dozens of times before you can level up. I guess what I like is that by the time you reach Lvl 25 and can hop on a 450 MX, you're racing against the then top pros in that series, rather than a random mix of riders like you do in Reflex (and now MvA SX).
I get what you mean about it seeming like an old coin-op arcade game too, reminds me of Excitebike or Pole Position.Comment
