Well hell no, we're not supposed to be reasonable and realistic. We're Alabama, we're supposed to be the best."

Re: Possible bad news for Nascar racing game fans
Bad, bad move if you're looking for realistic NASCAR console and PC games for the rest of this decade.
But NASCAR and EA Sports are perfect partners: Both make watered-down products that appeal to the masses, and the only color that matters to both is green, product be damned.
Take care,

Re: Possible bad news for Nascar racing game fans
the POTENTIAL bright side to this is that EA (IMO) produced a very strong efforts in all its sports titles this year as regards the realism factor.....MVP, NHL, NBA (looks like it), Madden....so there is certainly the ABILITY to gear up a sim
the downside, which has already been mentioned repeatedly, is that without competition in the NASCAR field, they can pretty much do what they want and we've got nowhere else to turn.....in fairness, i think this year Thunder is a step in the right direction, though it should and could have been a leapComment

Re: Possible bad news for Nascar racing game fans
Now that Papyrus has released the tools to mod Nascar Racing I don't see a problem with it. Modders typically are able to produce a much more realistic and accurate portrayal of a sport or genre. It makes a big difference when the people working on the project are doing something as a passion as opposed to a paycheck. Take a look at the GTMOd for F12002 and the Nascar Trucks mod made for NR2002. EA seems to ruin everything they get their hands on in my opinion.Comment

Re: Possible bad news for Nascar racing game fans
OK so I am a little late responding.. sorry I don't read this thread much. I run in an online league and we use Nascar 2003. The physics and realism are incredible and in my opinion no other sim even comes close. The thing with Nascar 2003 is it's a sim... not a game. From what I understand EA hired the Papy Nascar developers to develop sims for them. If this is true then this could actually turn out to be good news. EA's money and papy's developers should turn out a great sim in the end! My only fear is EA will want to lean towards the game aspect of it. If that's the case then the true sim guys are pretty much screwed. I've never run with all the aids or in arcade mode but hopefully they will have these options and stick with the true sim. We'll have to wait and see!Comment
