I'm not sold on this yet as I really haven't seen anything here that wasn't present in Midnight Club 2.

Re: Need for Speed Underground
Anyone bought NFSU yet ? I bought the PC version yesterday and I played it for about an hour yesterday before I had to pry myself away from it. I am currently hooking up a Honda Civic. This is the best NFS game ever made and IMO is a tie for best racing game along with PGR2. The street racing in the game is fun because the handling of the cars is done well, but what adds to it is how well thought out the drag racing part of the game is. If I had to give a racing game a 10 it would be this game....but it gets a 9.8. I wish it supported more than 4 players in multipalyer mode.
So far what little I have unlocked in the way of upgrades shows there is ALOT to be unlocked. There are alot of things you can do to upgrade the cars in this game.Comment

Re: Need for Speed Underground
Picked mine up yesterday for the XBOX.
Spent about 3 hrs straight playing. The customizations you can do to your vehicle is sick. You can pretty much do whatever the hell you want to trick it out after unlocking items of course.
The sence of speed is to die for. I find myself not able to blink at times when hitting a straight-aways; the sense of speed is that good.
The street races are flat out intense. Nearly every race you need to catch the leader or you lead without making any mistakes. Guys are on your ***, breathing down your neck; very intense racing through the city.

Re: Need for Speed Underground
One thing thats keeping me from getting the game is that the reviewers all say the courses are repetitve. Do you guys find that? Are there enough objectives to keep things fresh?
I liked Midnight Club 2 but I do wish it had some car customization.

The courses are and aren't repetitive depending on how you look at it. Basically the entire game takes place in one city. So the courses all intersect and overlap. You won't find yourself racing the same course over and over but you'll be racing through some parts over and over. As far as ambiance goes it's all the same, you won't find the obligatory "seaside cliffs" or "dessert" courses here. Personally I prefer it. By racing in the same city constantly you begin to develop a familiarity with the roads you're driving, which can really be important at 130MPH. I like the look and feel because as someone who has the unfortunate luck to live right on a major drag strip knows, these guys only come out at night."We All Have Sizeable Scars"
