Wow, MCLA is a fairly old game now. That's RockStar's game right? Can't claim to have played many racing games. It was actually MCLA that turned me onto racing games a couple of years back, and then I played some of the NFS games which were about 50/50 on enjoyment factor. Thing is I really enjoy a good storyline, and few of the racing games know how, or want to, incorporate a good storyline into the single player campaign. So even if the racing, environment, gameplay, sound, etc is good, I still wouldn't enjoy it if there wasn't a good story to propel me through the single player experience. Most of the reviews I've read on the MW is that it's primarily a multi-player game and not for those looking for a solid single player experience.

Most arcade driving games seem to all be about climbing the ranks of popularity and status within the games car culture.
Most Wanteds story is very much about vertical progression through the Most Wanted ranks and it is a retread of an aging story formula. Frankly the game is not about story, well, certainly not an original, engrossing or even somewhat interesting story, it is unabashedly all about arcade racing and online multilayer. The story provided only adds a bit of context to the game world but really this game could exist with no story at all and still succeed in doing what it does namely provide gamers with another arcade open world driving game with cops, big smashes, nitro boosting and fun multiplayer.
Not a bad game by any stretch but if you are after good narrative to drive your experience, you won't find it here...nor in Forza Horizon. We are the music makers...Comment

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions
The problem with racing game stories (and a lot of game stories in general) is their insistance to start you at the bottom every time so they just can't do anything intresting. "Here's a Ford Focus. Work your way up. Good luck!" That and not wanting to do a T or M rated racing game.Comment

I don't see the need for a storyline in a free roaming street racing game. For one, all of the storylines will be in the same vein as The Fast and the Furious and while that movie franchise has become a fan favorite of a lot of people it's gets wack in the video game world.
A free roaming street racer doesn't need a storyline, just a good environment, a large car list, customization and tons of different races and other objectives to make money and get better cars and more upgrades. All of that "I'm from New York and I'm trying to become the best racer in LA" type of bs is unnecessary and really corny after awhile.
When you play the various career modes in other sports titles (Superstar/CCM, MyPlayer, Road to the Show ect). There is no storyline. You create the player and play the sport out. In free roaming racing games, it should be the same, screw the storylines. Grab a car and start racing/making money and repLast edited by Duece; 11-16-2012, 05:01 PM.Comment

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions
I had a few complaints. Thankfully I have the PC version so most of them were instantly fixed.
The main one being every little thing is a crash. Isn't as bad as say,The Run where if you dare had a tire off the road you'd be reset but still many low speed and non-sense crashes. This was easily fixed but I mentioned it anyway for those that would get it on the consoles.
Graphics are amazing. The sunset while crossing the bridge in particular.
Not that I didn't like the Muse intro but the first thing you should be presented with in a PC game is the start menu so you can go to the options screen. This game entirely ditched the start menu so it should've been a pre-game launcher. Only had to change one thing but still that's a bad thing to do.
Far as gameplay I'm with all those that said it should've been called Burnout Paradise 2 or Burnout Most Wanted.
Soundtrack wasn't very good but again PC version, easily dealt with.
I've enjoyed looking around for cars and a 17:58 police chase that awarded 40k in speed points.Comment

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions
I have a question about single player. When the game loads the car appears and you just start driving around in the open world. Is there any way to choose different races like you could do in need for speed hot pursuit?Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions
Are there any co-op challenges like there was in Burnout Paradise?

From what I can tell it is just races and stuff. The game doesn't have those fun stunt runs and crazy co-op challenges like barrel rolls and jumps through hoops that were so fun in Burnout Paradise. The feel of the game is like Paradise, but it isn't as awesome.

After further play I'm far less impressed due to absolutely ridiculous rubber banding. Some of the worst I've ever seen.Comment
